    Pros +

    • Beautiful grounds, and architecture. Well appointed room. Spa experience was excellent. All of the spa facilities that you could want.
    • Beautiful setting; friendly staff; great breakfast
    • Excellent place to retreat from civilization. Staff is amazing . Rooms are comfortable , park and nature around are superb . Spa is not the best , but acceptable .

    Cons -

    • Staff neglected to communicate important information at checkin, such as WiFi access changed, climate control inside the room. Electric car charging was not operating properly, so I had to pay an additional charge for the car charger.
    • A kettle in the room to make tea and coffee would be good
    • A very minor issue for me was a preference for a harder pillow.

The building is impressive and the grounds are beautiful. It was nice to take a long walk in a green area with pond and walking bridge. One has the opportunity to rent bikes or play tennis or golf in this special place. The restaurant is Michelin rated. Breakfast was excellent.

A very minor issue for me was a preference for a harder pillow.

The charme of the people, the quality of the service the beauty off the building , the excellent green location, with the possibility of spending quality time in the Spa or on the golf court, makes this One of the best hotels in the world. !!TOP!!! I shall return!

Everything, from the welcoming reception, comfortable room, super breakfast, amazing spa with outdoor pool, delicious meals at the bar and restaurant, to the sympathy of the staff. We will always return!

The palace is gorgeous and an absolute delight

The door slamming every 5 minutes, I wanted to rest and it was not possible since the heavy bedroom doors close with a very absurdly high slam, even if you are careful, the doors are built in a way that every time someone shuts them a loud bang erupts trough the entire wing, it’s very upsetting.

    8AnaPosted on: 12-14-2024

The Palace is breathtaking and confortable, the staff is very attentive and the spa is fabulous.

The doors keep slamming with astounding noise throughout the day, they are really heavy and loud and disrupt any relaxed state you can find in the bedrooms. It’s an absolutely unacceptable volume for such a high quality hotel.

This place is excellent by I can´t understand why in a 5 star hotel I have to pay to use the spa facilities (inside pool, steam bath sauna, etc.). It makes no sense. The staff is the best we can find. I travel a lot and the profissionalism and kindness of the staff is the best I can find, even I notice they are very limited for the amount of people they need to attend. Nevertheless they make a high standard service.

The wine prices are extremely excessive. As mentioned before, I didn´t like to have to pay to use spa facilities.I noticed some people with kids at the spa area even it is forbidden for kids. I saw some staff members applying this people the leave the area with the kids with no result. Perhaps it will justify a management intervetion, that I couldn´t notice and this really annoys my stay at this facilities

It is a magnificent build, inside and out. It is modernised and well maintained. The staff are professional and attentive. It is nice to be greeted by porters who take luggage straight away, and then park the car !The ballroom restaurant is spacious and graceful and the chef has put together a clever menu, complimented by a well selected wine list.

None of this palatial experience comes cheap; but it is worth it once in a while

    10JudithPosted on: 10-23-2024

All the meals we had were very good. We had dinner one evening and it was excellent, probably the best we have eaten in Portugal.

There were no facilities in the room to make tea or coffee

    10DanielPosted on: 9-18-2024

Excellent treatment by the staff, even in dire times with all the nearby fires they did a superb job. Beautiful location that takes you back to the 1900s.

Vidago Palace Hotel has exceeded all my expectations - everything was perfect and I am delighted for having experienced it! The building is absolutely stunning and that was the reason we visited. But that will no longer be the only reason why we'll return - and we will return! From the housekeeping, to the restaurant(s), bar, pool(s), spa, valet or front-desk staff, everyone offers you an exceptional service. They're all very attentive and kind. The grounds of the hotel are neatly kept, with attention to every detail. The "Salāo Nobre" restaurant, the breakfast room, the entrance staircase, the overall décor, the little lake and island, and the excellency in service, transport you to what we can only imagine to what must have been to live in a luxurious place during the Belle Époque.

I am known to be picky, but in all honesty there is nothing I can say I didn't like. Now, to do justice to my reputation, I would add 2 little suggestions for improvement that would make the experience even more perfect - mind you, I am really being picky! : 1) have larger coffee cups in the room, for those, like me, who enjoy a "lungo" - that said, I am sure that if I'd have called reception and asked for a lungo cup, they would quickly have provided me with one; 2) increase the selection of wine sold "by the glass" available at the restaurants.

Grand appearance and very helpful staff

Room very expensive for such a small space with limited views over the pool roof building and very small windows with net curtains. Posh fixtures and fittings do not make up for the lack of space. Zero wow in this room at the back of the building on the top floor.

    9PedroPosted on: 8-22-2024

Virago Palace is an amazing place, the surroundings are great!!! The food was wonderful!!!

The bed was to soft! And we couldn't have our spa session because of technical problems.

    9MargaridaPosted on: 7-30-2024

Everything exceptional, including food and SAP treatments

Access to the SPA and indoor pool for small children should not be allowed. This is a relaxation area and not a playground, but unfortunately access is granted from children 3 years and more, when there is a wonderfull outdoor pool which they could perfectly use instead.

    8LuísPosted on: 7-1-2024

Classy hotel with nice mix between old and actual

Gardens were not super well taken care of and gardeners should use quieter machines because it disturbs the guests almost every day.

    10DavidPosted on: 6-28-2024

The entire stay was peaceful and lovely. Had no reason to leave. Loved the dining Room.Best part was enjoying the pool with a good book. Great food and staff. Would return if we lived in Portugal. Enjoy

Very comfortable bed and pillows, nice spa facilities

Found it overpriced. But the attention was good.

We had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful hotel for two nights during a 4 week trip to Portugal in February, and I have to say it truly lives up to its 5 Stars. The Palace and the grounds are amazing. Our rooms were more than adequate size, clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The dining areas were very elegant and beautifully decorated, as was the lounge/bar area. The employees were friendly and very helpful, and the breakfast offered an abundant and delicious variety of options. We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to return someday.
