Breakfast, charming scenic town, friendly people, great vibe

Closed roads, detours, takes longer than expected to get there (not the hotels fault and part of the charm is the off beaten area) no staff to communicate with after 8pm, parking challenging and directions were hard to understand; a map would have been helpful.

Staff in bar/restaurant were fantastic. the buffet breakfast was very good. the presentation the buffet was beautifully displayed

during our reservation booking it was impossible to ADD an additional person, from 1 person to 2 people. Therefore we were charged for 'upgraded' room and an additional guest, altho we had originally booked a triple room. the charges were a bit of a surprise

Great location in a historical fortress. The staff was friendly. Hotel restaurant was good....We ate dinner and breakfast there. The hotel exceeded my expectations. Great place to stay for 1-2 days while exploring Etruscan sites.

Hotel della Fortezza is located in such a unique structure that makes the staying there unforgettable. The renovation was done beautifully and we enjoyed absorbing the atmosphere of the place. our receptionist was lovely and helpful

This is an exceptional place. The sunset view is stunning, the town is well worth exploring. Dinner was fabulous, beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. Breakfast was also full of choice. The owners have done a great job converting the castle into a comfortable hotel and looking after their guests.

The bathroom was great. Loved the steps up to the shower however the steps on entering the room to reach the bed and the size of the bedroom were quite small. It was part of the charm of staying in a castle but would be challenging if you had mobility issues. I imagine every room is different but worth mentioning when booking if this is important to you.

Amazing stay in a historic castle. Rooms are small but modern and very comfortable with breathtaking views of the town. The decently sized bathroom was clean with new appliances. In the evenings (5-8pm) cocktails are served in the castle's courtyard which adds some great atmosphere.

We would have had dinner at the hotel, but dinner was served in the breakfast room which has absolutely no ambiance. We were told that during the summer months dinner is served in the courtyard which we would have loved. Fortunately, there are a couple good restaurants in town.

Location was ideal; despite being inside the castle, parking easily available and luggage drop off in front of hotel was perfect.

Accommodations were outstanding in the turret room. Crazy wild experience that we thoroughly enjoyed. Truly an unexpected thrill we will always remember.Brigette was most instrumental in our experience explaining the details of our suite within the castle and even guiding us with personalized suggestions for our interests. She is an amazing communicator and an asset to her team. Thank you again.

Loved our time at the Fortress. The facilities are great, clean, comfortable and renovated. Friendly staff and amazing owners. The kids had a ton of fun. It’s a good spot to have as a base with day trips to Pitigliano, Sovano and Saturnia. We will visit again and highly recommend this stay to anyone considering staying here.

This place is amazing, the staff was so nice, the room was very comfortable and clean, breakfast was awesome. This was our favorite place to stay during our 2 week journey thru Italy ❤️❤️❤️

Staying here was such a cool experience! Truly felt like you were tucked away in an unexplored and peaceful area of Tuscany and you could really feel the history of this building. Views were absolutely stunning. We even went on a private wine cellar tour (with a delicious wine tasting) with the owner of the hotel which was so interesting, highly recommend opting for that experience! He was very informative and friendly and even took care of us at dinner that night- the hotel restaurant was fantastic. Also recommend finding the Etruscan Cut trails nearby and walking through those, that was a highlight of our trip. Such a great stay!

Amazing staff, excellent food and comfortable beds. Sorano is a beautiful village. I wished we stayed longer.

Exceptional place, great view, kind staff and a historic fortress. This really was an outstanding experience and we've quite been around. Sorano is lovely, the fortress sitting ontop and you feel like Orsini himself ( at least from the point of accomodation ;) ). Breakfast was well equipped and don't miss to have dinner in the hotel restaurant. For english speaking guests (i.e. non italian speakers): there is a tour in english through the fortress saturday and sunday morning organized by the fortress museum. It's really interesting and you shouldn't miss it as well!

It is a lovely experience! Rooms are clean and well kept. The fortress is ancient, however the efforts of the hosts makes this place an extraordinary place to stay in Sorano. Breakfast was amazing. We would definitely stay here again.

Be prepared for weak wifi… stone walls are thick! However it was nice to disconnect here.

Just an excellent venue, a real castle feel, and an excellent staff. The onsite restaurant is 10/10 and the breakfast selection is great.

A longer stay ... we didn't want to leave after just two nights.

What can I say we had a fabulous time at Hotel Della Fortezza. All our communication with the hotel prior to our visit was clear and friendly. Upon arrival we were greeted with kindness. The view of the countryside from our room was fabulous, better than anticipated. The bedroom was of a good size and the bed was so comfortable. I loved the blinds and overslept due to the lack of light :) Breakfast was great value, all the food was delicious. The staff were so kind and friendly and so knowledgeable about their fabulous wine and beer - we will be back.

The hotel is located in a very special place, in a fortress, in a small town in the mountains. From the window of the room there was a fabulous view of the city and the mountains. During our visit, the weather was rainy, so we could watch the clouds moving under our feet all the time through the window. Great view. The staff was very friendly. In addition, a very picturesque road leads to the hotel. I recommend it.
