About
Parador de Benavente is a converted 12th-century royal castle in Zamora province. It features impressive décor and offers an outdoor pool and attractive rooms with free Wi-Fi. The magnificent tower, known as the "snail tower", stands out within the complex, with its beautiful Mudejar ceiling. The air-conditioned rooms feature antique-style furnishings, a TV and a private bathroom with a hairdryer. The Parador’s restaurant serves traditional food from the Zamora region. There is also a bar where you can get a snack or a drink. Staff at the 24-hour reception can provide information about what to see and do in Benavente and the surrounding area. The Parador is set in beautiful gardens in the old part of town. It is a 10-minute walk to the Santa María de Azogue Church. You can reach Zamora and León in an hour, by car.

Pros +
- Spacious room and bathroom. Very nice welcome at the desk.
- Well cared for. Beautiful location
- It was unique. An old fortress/castle converted into a national chain of hotels in Spain. Benavente has little to offer but is a good midway point to northern Spain. Very nice bar and restaurant. Great staff.
Cons -
- Price for coffee and toast a little high.
- Bed was a bit too firm
- Limited parking, hotel was fine but Benavente is uninteresting.

This was the most comfortable Parador I have stayed in. The shower is huge, two people can shower separately at the same time. The bed was heavenly comfortable. The temperature was pleasant throughout the hotel.
Not a city where there is so much to do, but there are some worthwhile things in the general area.
The building was fantastic. We didn’t have breakfast. Rooms were spacious and very well appointed. Best shower I have ever seen in a hotel.
Would have been nice to have coffee and tea in the room.
The history, decor, and comfort added to the delicious food, beautiful sunset, and friendly castle kitties and staff, made our stay absolutely memorable!
The technology (TV and wifi) need an upgrade.
What a surprise! We really liked this hotel. Spacious, comfortable, clean, and with a very nice shower and balcony. Will definitely come back again.
Nothing to say!
Friendly and helpful staff, clean and large rooms, large bathrooms with double sinks, comfortable beds and pillows, and an ample hot/cold breakfast. We'll return.
Beautiful building, magnificent reconstruction, a pleasure to stay here, swimming pool was great after a hot days walking, breakfast was great, staff were great.
No complimentary water !
This is what I didn’t like: The place had very weak WiFi. It didn’t have a smart tv. It didn’t have info about what numbers to use to call reception or room service. The coffee was really bad quality and expensive. The hotel doesn’t provide you with a comb or other amenities for a 4 star hotel. Hotel doesn’t even have a coffee machine in the room like other hotels.
Beautiful property in a great setting, easy walk to the old town. Rooms are large and very nice, staff is very friendly and helpful. We did not eat in the restaurant, only drinks and snacks in the bar, which was great. We have stayed at several pardores, and this one ranks with the best.
Beautiful building, great location. Perfect.
I missed having a kettle in the room.
Rooms are spacious, modernized, clean and comfortable.
Restaurant, meals are poor quality and expensive, and breakfast is made of processed foods, also with very low quality. Ordered scrambled eggs and they were powdered, watery and cold. Poor staff service during breakfast.
Restaurant is top notch. Nice dual shower. Cool bar in castle.
Beautiful building and really excellent value for money. Good facilities for my wheelchair dependent husband. Plenty of room to manoeuvre in room and bathroom, good hand and grab rails.
Toilet was very low and although there were good grab rails my husband felt he had to exert undue pressure on them to get himself off the toilet.
Amazing historic building, our rooms were on the ground floor with access to the garden, with individual terrace and garden furniture. The on site restaurant offers excellent local cuisine
It wasn't a big problem, but it was very hot in the rooms
Beautiful facility (especially the bar in the tower). And great vues from my balcony.
They no longer offer kits in the room (like sewing, toothbrush, etc) and no coffee/tea set in the room.
Great location, lovely building and all round good facilities
No real issues at all we really enjoyed our 1 night stay.
It's an amazing setting. Historic context with 1st class accommodations. Gardens park adjacent to entry and a stones throw from the heart of town. I was afraid the castle complex on the hill would be far removed from the center of town, but far from it. It was ideal. The staff was gracious, attentive and welcoming. The meals were very good. The guy at reception was able to decipher the meaning of the elements on the crests of the Counts of Benavente. Well-educated and engaged. The wait staff for breakfast and dinner seemed to delight in presenting the meal offerings. Even the charcuterie plate came with a detailed explanation of each cheese, name, source, origin, and maturation. Attention to detail was refreshing. The shower is amazing! Designed for two. Delightful even for one. Decor is tastefully modern. Even the lighting is coordinated to be the same color. Someone there has vision.
That the pool was closed.
We loved the size of the room, the high tech bathroom, the beautiful balcony with comfy chairs and a brilliant view. The bar staff and cleaning staff were friendly and attentive. The building was well kept, right in the centre of town a few minutes walk to the bars and restaurants.
Apart from the guy who checked us in on arrival, who was very friendly, we found the reception staff alouf and ignorant, we stayed 4 nights in the hotel and not once during our stay did any of them acknowledge us, we passed them many times in and out of the reception area , passing through to go to the bar and restaurant. As with many Paradores we find the reception staff need training in customer service.
