Pros +
- Good location for the town, easy parking, clean and friendly
- Quite a large, newly decorated apartment, but it is a 10 minute drive from the hotel. Kitchen, bathrooms and sitting room had appropriate facilities. Generally clean.
- Nice rooms with a town view on the third floor. Good bar/restaurant across the street - La Trucha.
Cons -
- It took about 45 minutes to sort out access to the apartment. The receptionist at Hotel Santiago was lovely, but overwhelmed with phone calls and arriving guests, and had to call the manager to come in ( it was 9.30pm). The app that was supposed to open the apartment entrance remotely ( Akiles) didn't work. In the end the manager drove with us to the apartment and let us in with a set of keys. He was charming, but it all took too long, and the apartment should not be advertised as at the same address as Hotel Santiago. Once there, the apartment is fine, but the previous guest's dishes were still in the dishwasher, and had not been cleaned properly ( no dishwasher tablets in the flat, so guest or cleaner had probably just turned it on without tablets) and only a very old sponge was in the cupboard if you wanted to wash a few cups by hand. Don't know who lives in the flats opposite the bedrooms, but people were shouting and talking loudly in the street from about 4.30am, and a car kept sounding its horn around 6am as if to call someone out of the flats. So overall not a very satisfactory one night stay. Perhaps it was just a bad night....at least the bed was comfortable!
- No overnight garage for the motorbikes but perfectly safe outside.
- When we got there the man in the front desk was a bit too cold to us. He was speaking nicely to some Spanish customers there but when we got there he was very cold to us

It was a nice hotel, clean and organized

The cleanliness of the room, the easiness for a late-arrival (I was there close to midnight and they facilitated me a code to reach my room). And it is very well located. The toilet room was fully served, like a five stars hotel.
Friendly staff, lots of things in a basket on the bathroom, including toothpaste, good blackout system, so the sun won't wake you up in early morning, almost no sounds from the other rooms, minibar well furnished with acceptable prices.
Furniture a little older or, at least, in an antique style, noisy air conditioner, breakfast could have more variety and local products, juices should be bettered.
Nice jacuzzi tub. All very clean. Nice continental breakfast for €7. Cute room. Window opens for fresh air. Centrally located.
I liked all.
Good
Unfortunately they do not have airconditioning and the room was 26 degrees so it was difficult to sleep. They said that they havent turned the heating system over to air con yet because some people want the heat on! Otherwise the hotel was fine and the staff were helpful.
The hotel and staff were really helpful letting us keep our bikes in the basement. Breakfast was good value and you could have as much as you wanted. Location was near enough to the town centre to walk to but far enough out to be quiet.
Not a great deal. We were allocated a room in the roof space of the hotel. There was no air con available as they said it was cold weather when it was in the 20s. The window was a "push up" one which let a tiny bit of cool air in during the night but also noise from the main street below as this was the only way of cooling the room. The hotel staff were pleasant and did try to help, but could not speak much English and to be fair I don't think they had much passing trade from tourists. Neither did the town, as we didn't find many people who wanted to help us to find a restaurant which was open at a reasonable time. All in all not a great experience including a hard bed and hard pillows.
The room was called a "superior double". I think the only reason for this was that they put a couple of dressing gowns and disposable slippers on a stool in the bathroom. The fact that there was no air con switched on, even for sleeping, made the overnight stay pretty uncomfortable as did the pillows which were available. Breakfast was a pretty boring toast and croissant type of buffet with no other option available although they did have soya milk for me. Orange juice for breakfast was a "Fanta" type of juice. We were travelling down to southern Spain on a motorbike and were not rested when we left.
It was quiet and easy to find. Not too far to the centre without the trouble of one way roads.
Benavente was a good stopping off place on the way to Portugal from Madrid. The rooms were well-equipped, clean and comfortable. We found a very reasonable local bar La Trencha across the road and had a good evening meal there - well-attended by locals - always a good sign!
We seemed to be the only guests on a floor which was being decorated. The furniture on the landing was piled up and under wraps and there were splodges of paint on the walls and masking tape around the doors of our rooms. The workmen were banging about from 8am... The rest of the hotel was of very high quality, and yet I felt we were offered the unfinished product... Our son helped himself to juice from the minibar and we were charged 14 euros on departure. Not 100% happy in view of the far from perfect decor in our room and on our landing / floor. View from window was of a derelict building. I think we could probably have been offered a much nicer room as it was quiet and out of season. Staff interaction was minimal...
Nice hotel to finish off a 7000 roadtrip. Price quality the best place I stayed the last 3 weeks. Good location, nice rooms and fast internet.
Breakfast was a bit to simple.
Warm and quiet room. A fair walk to town centre - but interesting.
Limited interaction with staff. Expensive at the weekend.
Beautiful design, good location and fantastic bathroom with all supplies I may have needed on my camino.
Bed was too hard for me. No space around the bed in room. Breakfast with limited choice of food.
This was a late booking for an overnight stopover on the way to Porto. We didn't know anything about this small town but obviously other travellers did as there were plenty of them!Lovely hotel with a friendly welcome and easy on-street free parking. Easy walk into the town centre. For us on this occasion it was excellent value for money.
Nothing springs to mind, we'd use it again for a stopover.
Central location and clean
The room was not in line with the expectations - we booked a bigger room
Good welcome, well organised. Nice rooms.
Needs air conditioning.
Close to the town centre. Stored our bikes in the basement.
Small room, big bed.
Location was good, room small but very clean and window opened so not stuffy and I slept well. Staff were courteous and prompt.
