Hotel Helmer

Great hotel in the perfect location for visiting the nearby castles. The room was neat and tidy with lots of room for spreading out our luggage. The restaurant downstairs is convenient and the included breakfast was very tasty.

Strangely, the hotel key was very heavy and bulky to carry around everywhere. It was a bit like a paperweight. Would've preferred some water bottles in the rooms or at least a vending machine.

Many businesses in town were closed so not much to do after 5:00. Obviously to be expected in a small town during non peak travel.

Breakfast was good. Location was excellent. The interior carved finishes were beautiful.

We missed having a coffee set up in the room. As it was warm outside and there is no A/C it would have been easier to sleep if there was a fan.

We didn't like breakfasts. The selection was pretty much limited and the same every single day. Beds were OK, but pillows were very bad.We've been to Helmer 11 years ago. It was a much better placr.

Very nice, clean and modern room. We stayed at the annex and had a great view to the castles right from our balcony. You can reach the castle base (where the buses and horse coaches leave) by a modest hike or a 5 minute drive. Very easy. Friendly staff. Breakfast was ok.

Very quiet, comfy and clean room! The food served for dinner is really really good, we can highly recommend it, the ingredients are sourced locally and the quality is excelent. If you wager wether to eat somewhere else or at the hotel, definetly consider the hotel!Breakfast is tasty as well, there is a great collection of different high quality breads and bread rolls.

The location is great, it is close to the famous castles and lakeside.The room was clean, quiet, and well-furnished. The breakfast was fine.The parking lot was also big and well-lit.

The temperature of water in the bathroom has sudden changes where it gets too hot for a few seconds. Please get it fixed before someone is hurt.There is a lack of personnel at reception during rush hours, especially during breakfast and dinner time. We had a reservation for dinner, but the table was not ready at the reserved time. There is a sign in front of reception telling you that you should wait there until the personnel shows you your table. After waiting for 10 minutes, having no information when we would be given the table, we decided to leave and visit another restaurant in the region. We were waiting behind two other groups one of which also confirmed having a reservation and waiting for too long. The main idea of having a reservation is that the table waits for you instead of you waiting for a table. I would prefer if the reception declined our reservation request saying the restaurant was full instead of accepting it and keeping us lined up.It is on the expensive edge of pricing for what you get in return. This kind of pricing can be justified only with flawless service, which was missing.

Very pretty view out the window to the castle. Also decent parking area.

The restaurant food made me very sick. The light kept turning off when I was in the shower and the restaurant workers weren’t very friendly.

A lovely hotel in a very scenic area. Free car park. The food was excellent, as well as the staff and facilities. We had a furnished balcony.

Nothing. We would have appreciated air conditioning as it was very hot.

Really too expensive for a 3-star hotel.Included breakfast was very disappointing. There was better breakfast in another room but it was not for us. I suggest you don't get the included breakfast and decide on the spot.

The hotel has great location, even if you missed your buss to castles, it’s 41min from Neuschwanstein castle and 20 min from the last bus station prior to the castles. The room was clean and had everything I needed.

We loved the location in Schwangau and the use of free bikes. There are so many bike paths and they are easy to follow. The room was very clean, the food excellent, and the woman who checked us in was delightful and made us feel so welcome after a very long journey and very little sleep!

Seemed the price we paid on Booking.com was higher than published rates after we paid.

Good breakfast, cheap ebike rental, some very friendly staff, good parking, good sized room which was recently refurbished. Available café and restaurant on site. Great location close to public transport and grocery store.

Room faced noisy side road with frequent deliveries and staff who took breaks outside while smoking, which then wafted to the balcony and into our room. This was a big problem as during summer we needed to keep the windows open in the absence of a fan and AC. Cleaners were loud sometimes.

The behavior of staffs are very welcoming and friendly. Staffs also speak English. Very clean hotel and location is very good.

The room doesn't have any air conditioner or fan. The room was very hot and very uncomfortable during day time. The price for the room is very high. 198 euro for 1 night is totally unreasonable compare to the room facility.

Excellent position in Schwangau about 25 minutes walk from Forggensee and from the hill that leads up to Neuschwanstein.The most lovely hotel with super friendly staff ,fabulous spacious rooms and wonderful food. Absolutely loved everything about it.

The hotel is situated in a quiet village which is very close to nearby castle attractions and there are many places to go for a walk or by bicycle. The hotel staff were very nice, breakfast was good and the stay was a pleasant one.We also greatly appreciated the fact that the hotel also offered gluten free bread and snack upon request during breakfast.

A small suggestion would be perhaps for some cakes and hot items to be added to the breakfast selection.
