    • We are traveling the Camino by bike and the secure storage we asked for was great. The receptionist was extremely helpful in getting us info and assistance to our next stop. We were extremely happy with our stay.
    • ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Stay – Exceeded All ExpectationsMy one-night stay at Hotel Aroi Bierzo Plaza (December 11–12) was absolutely exceptional. The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Ponferrada, making it ideal for exploring the city on foot. Everything you could possibly need—restaurants, historic sites, and shops—is just steps away. The service was truly beyond expectations. From the moment I arrived, the staff was professional, attentive, warm, and genuinely committed to guest satisfaction. Every interaction felt personalized, efficient, and welcoming—something that is becoming increasingly rare. The breakfast deserves special recognition. It was simply outstanding: fresh, abundant, beautifully presented, and of excellent quality. A perfect way to start the day and a clear reflection of the hotel’s high standards.Overall, this hotel delivers an exceptional combination of prime location, superior service, and outstanding amenities. Even for a one-night stay, the experience was memorable and flawless. I would absolutely stay here again without hesitation and highly recommend Hotel Aroi Bierzo Plaza to anyone visiting Ponferrada.
    • Location; balcony; bar.

    Cons -

    • Noisy both in square outside and from inside as well.
    • There was not really much to dislike. You may want to be specific about a room choice as there are rooms that faced the plaza and economy rooms which are less expensive but do not overlook the plaza.
    • Slightly noisy from other guests in adjoining room

Noisy both in square outside and from inside as well.

Easy access to the community and the Camino. It was just a few city blocks from the castle. It was located in the heart of the historical zone with many restaurants within walking distance.

There was not really much to dislike. You may want to be specific about a room choice as there are rooms that faced the plaza and economy rooms which are less expensive but do not overlook the plaza.

    Beautiful room in great location

Slightly noisy from other guests in adjoining room

    8HeatherPosted on: 8-13-2025

    Nice location. Clean room.

We were given a room on the lowest level and could hear furniture (chairs) being moved all evening. Walls seemed thin as we could hear our neighbors talking.

    10JeffreyPosted on: 7-22-2025

Incredible view of the plaza and yet still quiet if closed shutters. Spacious. Clean. Restful. Bar downstairs.

Could use one more (a second) chair in room, but nothing else.

We had a room overlooking the square; it was clean and comfortable

We ate at the restaurant but were not offered the menu in English even though we later found there was one; the food was not so good and was a bit limited in options

    Location

Not a wink of sleep. Someone had their tv on all night. Thin walls.

    10LindaPosted on: 7-4-2025

great check in, staff very helpful, fantastic view from our bed into the main square, great location for exploring the historical downtown.

The air conditioner not working well. However, once the sunset and temperature dropped, was very comfortable in our room. and it was 96 deg outside!

    7Anne S.Posted on: 6-27-2025

The location was great, the staff pleasant and the continental breakfast was pretty good.

The air conditioning was not cooling, it was at best a fan, we ended opening the windows in the middle of the night.

    Great location and good room

The Plaza bells were gong off every hour at night

    9SantiagoPosted on: 6-3-2025

The receptionist was very friendly and took the time to explain all the activities and surroundings very thoroughly. Overall clean and very good location.

Our room was rather small, bathroom was old and without ventilation. Room window was directly to a noisy street

    10PhilPosted on: 5-24-2025

Very pleasant room, balcony was great for drying out gear on the Camino. Staff were great and a really good breakfast. Watch out for the spicy cheese balls with drinks!

    Nothing, happily stop again

    Location. Breakfast available. Elevator access.

Room was cold- thermostat seemed off.Parking difficult due to construction. Rooms are small but have all amenities.

    3InêsPosted on: 5-2-2025

    the location is great

however we were put in the -1 with a window for the back street that was missing one of the locks so we had to tape the window shut. The room was also way less spacious than the photos. Impossible to use the chair and desk that were there in a corner. It felt crowed and we were just two.The bed was also small.

    10JuliePosted on: 4-15-2025

Great hotel in perfect location for the Camino, in the main plaza. Lots of dining options.

    9HelenPosted on: 4-14-2025

Great location when walking the Camino. Very comfortable. Staff on reception were exceptional, experienced and helpful.

A lot of noise from the Square at night. Earplugs would have helped.

    10MilliePosted on: 4-13-2025

Everything about our stay was great. It was our first night on the camino Frances and it was a perfect choice. The room was very comfortable, the breakfast had lots of options and the staff were very friendly. The location was really nice, in the old part of town. Highly recommended! Great Tex-Mex place a few doors down with excellent staff and great food

Nothing, it was a lovely stay

    8Jenny F.Posted on: 2-25-2025

We appreciated the bedside tables, individual bedside lamps, and seating for two people, as well as adequate storage. The facilities were clean and modern in a well-maintained older building. The location on the main plaza was convenient and the hotel was easy to find. We were able to find free overnight parking nearby, and there is also nearby paid parking. Check-in was simple and our room could be accessed by elevator. This hotel is right on the main plaza, with many nearby restaurants. It is close to the river and crusader castle - a lovely walk. We only stayed one night after visiting Las Medullas, but Ponferrada might make a good base for exploring the region.

Our room overlooked the main plaza which seemed quiet when we arrived but became rather lively and noisy at night, when bars and restaurants come to life, and during the early morning when the plaza seemed to be the assembly point for tour groups. Not a big negative; just a caution for light sleepers.
