Pros +
- Just a short walk to the centre. Comfy bed and spacious room.
- Great location 5 minutes from the main part of the old town but nice and quiet. Didn't have breakfast so cannot comment on that. The room was a bit dated and basic but it was still good value for what we paid. E.g., there wasn't a refrigerator or tea/coffee facilities and the bathroom was pretty tight.
- Excellent location, lovely period house, garden and pool
Cons -
- Nothing: unimprovable!
- Came here for good rest after busy two weeks in Picos. Unfortunately we were woken by the people in the room above us returning to their room at 1am on our first night and their alarm woke us up early the second night. Otherwise would have been a perfect stay.
- Paper thin walls! You could hear everyone’s door opening and shutting as all rooms open onto the attractive wooden stairwell. There are no rugs in the rooms and the floorboards are very squeaky. A mouse moving across the floor would be heard in this hotel. There were frequent disturbances from suitcases being dragged and just general moving around. The breakfast was poor- pre packed cakes etc, the same fruit came out for the 3 days we were there. The coffee was awful. We paid the extra €3 for the additional yoghurt, egg and cheese/ meats. We were disappointed that these arrived pre- chosen by the staff and were not part of the buffet. The yoghurt was a cheap flavoured variety and the hard boiled egg was over cooked and cold- no offer of a soft- boiled egg. By day 3 the croissants had been eaten by other guests and these were not replenished. The building itself is very attractive but the rooms need updating - particularly the bathrooms. An odd selection toon of toiletries was provided including a comb, shoe shine and bar of soap- no shower gel/ shampoo. There was some liquid soap in a dispenser but it wasn’t clear what it was and the bottle was very dirty. The pool was kept under lock and key. The terrace had uncomfortable old chairs and is in need of updating. There was no atmosphere in the hotel at all- breakfast was eaten in silence.

Lovely location on the edge of the old town but far enough away ( short walk) to avoid the day trippers and crowds. Very comfortable beds.
Beautiful hotel in peaceful location but very near the town. Comfortable bed and lovely room, all spotless. Good breakfast and attentive staff. Enjoyed the pool.

Clean, friendly staff, quiet
The traditional charm of the place and it's great location and parking
Very clean and walking distance to Santillana del Mar. Plenty of free car parking in the hotel car park. Quiet location.

Everything. Beautifully appointed tranquil comfortable location
Sound proofing inadequate. Can clearly hear conversations from adjoining room.
Really lovely building, felt very authentic. The pool was an added bonus. The room was big and had good facilities, the bed was very comfortable. Was a stone's throw from Santillana del mar, just outside of the village with parking. The breakfast for 10 euro was really good, you really got you're money's worth. Would really recommend this hotel, exceptional value for money. Staff were really nice and it's easy to visit surrounding towns.
Just outside of town but easy walking distance.Nice patio outside dining room .Staff was excellent.
Rooms were dated and pool area was underwhelming.
Location a short walk from town, which was better for noise. Lovely old building, decent size room
Bathroom somewhat dated and we did struggle a bit to communicate with them at check in
Charming well kept traditional house with beautiful interior. Short walking distance to the old town
- Great Location to walk into Santillana - parking at the house - lovely old house that’s well kept
- no info online that you have to wear a swimming cap to use the pool at all - squeaky floors and doors (obviously very old building so kind of expected :) )- one long pillow for two people, made it not so comfortable to sleep as you always woke up when the other wanted to squeeze the pillow for oneself
Nice palacio-style building outside Santillana, therefore quiet, no street noises. Comfortable beds, clean room, good size of the room. Breakfast was not buffet-style, but ok; unimaginative pastries (seems to be standard in this part of Spain). Village with sights and restaurants within walking distance (5 to 10 minutes). Free parking.
Clean, Quiet, good sized rooms and good breakfast.
No restaurant, but plenty of eateries nearby.
A beautiful hotel with medieval Spanish atmosphereNice, great and clean room and bathroomVery friendly staff, 24/7 available for youNice and great poolVery good breakfastSafe parking
Close enough to the pretty village but far away enough to avoid the noise.. Quite an old world charm with all the wood features
Would have liked a restaurant, but there was a pleasant bar for coffee and other drinks..
Booked this hotel as it had free parking and was in a quite location. Couldn't fault anything such a lovely comfortable stay. Pool looked inviting but didn't use it and you could purchase a bathing cap for €2 which was a pool required to wear. We purchase breakfast which was lovely and plentiful for €7. Can highly recommend this hotel and only 40mins from the Santander ferry port.
Wonderful staff nothing to much trouble and everything done with a smile Excellent location Very good breakfast Lovely slightly old fashioned (that is meant in a good way) hotel
Personally I prefer a walk in shower, rather than a very small bath with a shower over it.
