- Quaint, great location. Good for families. Staff was really courteous, friendly, and helpful. A nice facility.
- Couldn't have been happier with our stay here. The room with big, thick stone walls was very warm and cosy and the bed, so comfortable.Staff were friendly and helpful and the buffet breakfast was varied and available until 11am, just in case you want to enjoy the bed a bit.Location was fantastic, 5 minutes walk and your in front of the cathedral.
- Fantastic location just 10 mins walk to the cathedral and 5 to the mercado de abastos. 6A bus from the airport drops you outside the hotel for €1Great buffet breakfast with full range of hot and cold food.
Cons -
- This hotel is quaint. Some of the rooms have two beds instead of a shared bed (common in the area, we found). The bathrooms are dated, but certainly adequate. Again, you will likely find this this case at all local hotels.
- No complaints
- Can’t thing of anything as it has nice personal touches throughout.

The location was perfect and very convenient to the cathedral. The beds and the sheets were the most comfortable of our entire 6 week trip in France and Spain. The room was warm and comfortable, which is not always the case in Spain in the winter.
The location is close to old town with shops, restaurants, cafes and even a market. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Rooms are clean with nice linens. The historical ambiance with lots of casual sitting areas throughout gardens and common areas.
Can’t thing of anything as it has nice personal touches throughout.
Excellent little hotel , right beside the market and a very short walk to the old town of Santiago de Compostela. Hotel is full of character, has a lovely garden and the rooms are very comfortable.
I couldnt get the wifi to work
Attractive period hotel in very convenient location for town centre.
Offsite car parking somewhat expensive.
Beautiful, characterful, comfortable room with quality bed linen and furnishings for a luxurious rest after 5 weeks on the Camino Frances. The staff were superb, caring, courteous and professional. They looked after us in the true, old fashioned sense of hospitality and we were really treated as guests. It was hospitality at its best and we truly appreciated it. We would like to thank everyone there for their care and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
Nothing. We felt very lucky to be there!
My third time staying at this property after walking Camino‘s it has a calming effect , great staff and well appointed.
The Hotel Virxe is an obvious gem of a building, but it’s the staff that truly defines its structure. The people who work there are so dedicated to providing a unique and memorable experience. We left our visit wishing we could have more time to spend with the community of very professional and yet personable folks who operate the hotel. A true team effort that is remarkable.
Absolutely nothing negative to say.
The property was a beautiful property about ten minutes walk away from the Cathedral, the rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was nice
The property is truly a unique addition to any visit to Santiago. Situated in a beautiful area surrounded by the lush history of the city, Hotel Virxe da Cerca is the perfect spot to relax in comfort. The staff is so professional and welcoming, they add to the quiet atmosphere of luxury. For anyone looking to experience the wonderful history and hospitality of Santiago, look no further than the Hotel Virxe da Cerca.
There is no way anyone can honestly imply a need for improvement at this hotel.
Brilliant location and the height of comfort in a delightful building with warm, charming staff
Very central location. Fairly clean rooms. OK staff.
Noisy, I kept windows open but since window was facing street there was fair amount of shouts at all times of the night (e.g. 3-4am). Rooms are small-ish, standard hotel slop, you can sleep there, but really you want to leave them as soon as you done sleeping. Hotel layout is very confusing with many floors, half-floors, doors and elevators. You could find a quiet place to sit somewhere, but it just didn't feel like a place to hang out. Staff was helpful enough, but it felt like they are optimized for passing as many people as possible and not hospitality.Overall I was happy to leave the place.
The location. Very central and everything within walking distance. Very clean and comfortable and the staff are excellent. Very good buffet breakfast and cafeteria.
The WIFI connection is very poor and the parking is very close but difficult access with suitcases.
Welcome, ambience, Comfort. Lovely garden.
Some fixtures in the room a bit tired and could be modernised,
Good location. Clean and friendly, knowledgeable staff
Great location, quiet, and friendly personnel
Mattress was hard
hotel is superb, really comfortable and in a great spot for post Camino. it has a lovely garden, noce comfotbale areas to real and enjoy some down time post the Camino. Noce an central so everytign is a short walk away.
Nothing, everything as superb.
Everything! Outstanding, friendly, helpful staff, stunning stone and wood interior, spacious rooms/bathrooms, spaces to socialize and relax apart from rooms, varied breakfast, silky sheets. A historic, stunning, Old Town property close to popular sites. It was a treat to stay there, even for one night.
I can't think of anything negative.
