Pros +
- Room was big and bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Excellent location.
- Location, bed, spacious
- Friendly and informative staff present everyday until 11pm to help with any needs. Spectacular location on a street rated of the most beautiful in Spain. Wonderful place to stay in Santiago. Highly recommended.
Cons -
- Hotel Montes did not meet our expectations, especially considering the price for a one-night stay. It was the smallest room we stayed in all week, yet one of the most expensive. The room itself left a lot to be desired—the beds were quite hard, and the shower was very small. The location was convenient, as it was close to the cathedral and many restaurants; however, it was extremely loud. Because of the area, we could hear people partying on the streets until around 4 a.m., which made it difficult to rest after long days on the Camino. If you’re looking for a comfortable and quiet place to recover after a week—or several weeks—of walking the Camino, I would not recommend staying here.
- The room was small, but then again we didn't spend much time in it.
- Hot in room. A/C not working too well. Had to open french doors and windows.

One thing I can especially recommend is the front desk lady—she was absolutely lovely.

Clean and good location. Cordial staff
Location!!! Balcony overlooking the square with vistas of the cathedral. The restaurant was excellent too.
The room was small, but then again we didn't spend much time in it.
Perfect location to stay after the Camino. Good breakfast, scrambled eggs and bacon.
location and breakfast
Hot in room. A/C not working too well. Had to open french doors and windows.
Everyone was great here. Kevin checked me in when the room was ready, about an hour and half early. He also speaks perfect English.
Location and very comfortable beds. Great shower
The location was ideal and close to the Cathedral and plaza. The staff Mary, Dana and Wardy gave us exceptional service that made our stay more comfortable.
The tight space in the room and bathroom. There was no where to open our luggage
Location right near cathedral square
Breakfast area a bit undersized but worked.
The location was perfect and the staff especially Mary, Dana and Wardy were very accommodating, helpful, effcient and kind
The rooms were so small that it’s hard for 2 people to open 2 luggage
It was quaint.
The beds were uncomfortable and the street noise was insanely loud. Did not sleep very much as you could hear all the street noise into the wee hours of the morning. The windows were absolutely useless
Great location, staff, room, restaurant. If you want a quiet room, ask for one not facing the plaza.
We arrived at the end of a Camino my friend stayed in another room. We love staying here at the end of a long Camino. The food is great. The staff is wonderful and the rooms are of course marvelous.
Perfect location to the heart of old town Santiago. Easy walk to everything.
Saturday night was a little loud in the courtyard below our window. But we used a noise machine on our phones and found sleep eventually. I wouldn’t trade it for anywhere less lively. The daytime activity was magical.
Beautiful small hotel. Although my room was a smaller one, the place was lovely. The staff was lovely.
The only con was the noise level - although I had just completed my own Camino, it never occurred to me that the restaurant / bar and late night noise level would be so high and go on until almost 3:30 am! Certainly not the hotel's fault and all part of the joy related to finishing the Camino!
Reception was very friendly and helpful! Our room overlooking the garden was lovely with views of cathedral! The location is central and convenient!
Wonderful spot to end our Camino. Excellent location close to the cathedral, restaurants and shopping. Staff was extremely helpful. Our rooms had views overlooking the courtyard and were clean and comfortable. We highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel was magnificent!! The staff so kind and helpful, especially Mary at reception and Dana in the restaurant at breakfast. I love the balcony and view to the quaint square below.
