    Pros +

    • Wonderful staff, large breakfast buffet, comfortable room.Heated towel racks were great!
    • Fosshotel Stykkisholmur's breakfast variety is quite good. Staff was clearly well-trained and knowledgeable. Nice view to a golf course.
    • Very nice stay. We were able to see the northern lights. We enjoyed a lovely Christmas Buffet that was offered. The breakfast was decent. Overall nice stay.

    Cons -

    • This is a 3 start out of 5. Whew, this place is dated. Bright-foam furniture with worn coverings, discolored bathroom caulk. Eye-watering price, at over $400 USD, for nothing special, nothing more than at newer and remodeled hotels priced up to 40% less, perhaps there is not enough hotel supply in the town.
    • No satellite TV.
    • No view - just of playground Beast was least exciting of our stay in Iceland

Fosshotel Stykkishólmur was a great place to stay and the location is very convenient. Our room was clean, modern, and quiet, with very comfortable beds that made it easy to rest after a day of exploring. The hotel had a welcoming atmosphere and everything was well-maintained.Overall, a smooth and pleasant stay — we’d happily come back and recommend it to others visiting Stykkishólmur!

A very pleasant hotel with wonderfully sized room and bathrooms. The staff and location were excellent.

Fun town on N of Snafesllnes peninsula.

No view - just of playground Beast was least exciting of our stay in Iceland

    Good views.handy for the walks.

It's an ugly building as it stands on a hill.

    10DianePosted on: 8-29-2025

Excellent staff, fun happy hour in a beautiful comfortable lounge. Clean, comfortable and quiet room.

Coffee in room didn’t work well.

    8SarahPosted on: 8-28-2025

The hotel was clean and the beds comfortable. The restaurant food was very good.

The bathroom was very small and I did not like the shower door configuration.

    8carolPosted on: 8-26-2025

Clean and modern. The breakfast buffet was superior with so many choices.

I prefer soft cotton sheets over flannel. That is my only criticism.

    8AnuPosted on: 8-17-2025

The location is great, the lobby is nice, the staff are amazing, and the dinner/breakfast were wonderful.

The rooms are not as nice as the rest of the hotel (especially the bathroooms--I didn't shower because the shower was exceedingly small and didn't look very nice).

    8ReshmaPosted on: 7-11-2025

The staff was quite friendly and upgraded us for booking one year in advance and good location if you intend to visit Snæfellsness peninsula.Good breakfast option too.

    7beejalPosted on: 7-8-2025

Clean rooms. Some with views of the harbor. Ours had mountain views which were also beautiful. This is the only big hotel in stykkisholmur. Great location to explore the cute tiny town.

Small rooms, small bathroom. Wide range of food in breakfast but it wasn't very good in taste. The hotel charges way more than it should.

    7DanielPosted on: 6-20-2025

We had reserved two rooms. The family room was excellent.

The decor of the second room, a triple, (for two people) was dated. The left side of the sink was missing, there was gray paint on the headboard and the shower door did not close properly.

    9LaurenPosted on: 6-2-2025

    Great location

We were given a “handicapped” room without asking and would have preferred a regular one

    4AhmedPosted on: 4-28-2025

    Clean

Rude unfriendly staff and charged us for breakfast

    7TravellerPosted on: 4-23-2025

Room availability even though very short notice (we booked at 7.00pm for same day)Professionally run

The hotel is in process of renovation which is good and needed. Unfortunately our room was still not touched, meaning the furniture was quite old, bathroom not really modern etc but it gave us good comfort.

    10LenusPosted on: 4-21-2025

Very clean, comfortable hotel. We had a party of 6 and the 2 triple rooms were perfect and spacious. Very comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast and the food was outstanding.

    10JamesPosted on: 4-21-2025

The staff were all very courteous and checking in was so easy. The hotel is very elegant and clean. I love the decor. We love the comfortable room and the shelf to place the suitcases on. We were blessed with an amazing snow capped mountains view and even got to view the magnificent Northern Lights. The dinner at the restaurant was very delicious and the staff were wonderful!
