Skyrhusid Guesthouse

Very lovely guesthouse with great surrounding views. The shared kitchen/dining area exceeded our expectations. There?s also a restaurant right across the road if you don?t want to cook. The staff were all very friendly. Highly recommend.

The location was ideal and it was fun to meet other travelers. The owner was very friendly and accommodating to our after-hours arrival time.

Very personable and accommodating. a lot of thought went into designing this guest house and it shows. Plenty of outlets, a sink, owels, glasses in each room. Bathrooms had hand towels. Plus, the simple hospitality of tea and coffee and cakes and yogurt!

The room was clean and beds were comfortable. The kitchen was very basic and cramped but workable. Liked the free coffee, tea and Skyr. Wifi was good. Friendly staff.

The hotel charged me twice by mistake. After contacting them by email, they did indeed verify their mistake and refunded my credit card on arrival.

View and atmosphere were great!!! G-milk and a piece of cake were good.

We had an awesome stay. The only thing I would change would be to stay longer! We will be back for sure.

Very clean – cabin style feel but the rooms had very modern lighting which was super neat! The kitchen was wonderful and the amenitites exceeded expectation. Would love to come again.

Located just 15 minutes from the Glacier Lagoon, this guesthouse sits in a beautifully remote and peaceful area. The staff were very friendly, and the facilities were comfortable and well maintained. One of the team members even shared helpful tips and recommended apps for tracking the northern lights, and thanks to that, we were able to see it.The shared kitchen was a highlight, with guests gathering to cook their own meals and chat. We also loved the homemade “grandmother’s recipe” cake offered to everyone, such a thoughtful touch.There’s a restaurant/guesthouse nearby where we had dinner, and the food was excellent as well. Overall, a wonderful stay.

The shared bathroom/toilet on the same floor is not idea when traveling with kids but we knew it when we booked it.

Great location that worked well for us on our trip and helpful staff who gave some good recommendations when we had to change our plans at the last minute due to road closures heading north east and needed to return back towards Reykjavik.

Some guests were quite loud, but that is expected in shared facilities. Also am not a huge fan of shared bathrooms, but that is also to be expected.

Spacious room that included a sink. Big shared kitchen. Comfortable beds. Good soundproofing in the rooms so it was very quiet despite how many guests there were.

Confusing check-in - the message we received said they would leave the keys at the reception if we arrived late at night. We arrived late afternoon and never saw any staff, so we checked ourselves in. No one the next morning for check-out either.

Amazing place, comfortable kitchen and the employees were really nice. The room is really clean and comfortable.

The water in the shower was not hot

The room is very small, but comfortable! Check-in couldn’t be better, as the key was already available for us in the lobby. Complimentary tea was a bless!!Overall, it was a nice stay!!

Bathroom was dirty, because other guest wouldn’t clean it after showering…

The room was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meal (pots, pans, microwave) there was also tea and coffee. There was cake in the afternoon.

The eating space is a bit small, but people managed

I had the best happy marriage cake in my trip! We were warmly greeted and invited for the complimentary welcome cake cutting. The shared bathroom is clean. The bed mattress could be better.

This was our first time staying at a hostel, so we weren't sure what to expect, but our rooms, the bathrooms, and the kitchen were all very clean and comfortable. Our rooms were also quiet. In the morning, I stepped outside of our room for a moment and realized there was a group of people talking at normal levels just down the hall in the kitchen, but we didn't hear them in our room.

The only thing I was sad about was that I forgot to try the welcome cake the night we arrived and by the next morning it was all gone.
