    Pros +

    • I loved this place and all the history of it. I loved that a hot springs was right down the hill. They also made good food here. My room was small but very clean, and I liked it. Staff were friendly.
    • Location. Historical Charm. Free Parking. Setting on Lake.
    • Great stay friendly staff!

    Cons -

    • Can be a little loud. Breakfast was average.
    • Very few amenities, shared bathrooms were lacking in supplies, very outdated, bad odor in the room that they attempted to mask with air freshener but it didn't work, poor selections for food and the food did not taste that good
    • Got bag lunch to go. Was definitely more food than we needed. Wishing we would have just ordered 1 lunch and could have saved money. Threw half of both lunches away.

Convenient location for us, very nice looking from the outside, comfortable.

The room felt a bit tight and the shades, once you rolled them down, could have been cleaned better.

We loved the apartment. The layout was great and it felt really homey

Disappointed that the local spa was closed for renovations as we had looked forward to that.

Great location, gorgeous building, AMAZING staff. I loved how it had its own restaurant downstairs. Very cozy environment.

Wifi would barely work from inside the room (outside the room was fine). The single room I stayed had no hangers, so my jackets were lying around.

    Location and history.

You can hear everything through the walls and the doors slam.

Staff were so accommodating and welcoming. Lovely setting. A great hike right across the street!

The location of this accommodation is quite ideal if you plan on visiting the Golden Circle or cross the country on route 35 like we did. It is a quiet area and you can even enjoy seeing horses at breakfast. The breakfast was quite good, altough a bit more on the pricy side, compared to other accommodations we stayed at. We also really enjoyed the pizza the night we arrived. We also liked the lounge area, that was vibrant and nice to sit.Everyone in the staff was quite helpful.

We felt like there isn't enough toilets and showers for the size of the accommodation and the showers were not too tempting.

The building is beautiful both inside and out, with a unique charm thanks to its history as an old school. The atmosphere has a very cool, distinctive vibe. Our room was on the smaller side, but it was comfortable and cozy. The shared bathrooms were decent and served their purpose. We also opted for breakfast, which featured a wide variety of options—and everything we tried was delicious.

Good accomodation. Restaurant food was delicious. Breakfast too. Good location

The 3 horses galloping outside in the morning. Beautiful sunrise. Nice historic property.

    7CamillePosted on: 9-5-2025

The hotel is beautifully decorated, the staff friendly and everything is very clean.

The room was in a part of the building not isolated at all from the noises, and very small (for the price) ...

    8KathleenPosted on: 9-4-2025

The location was very convenient as a stop along the golden circle route. It is very picturesque and the room was clean.

The hallways/common areas were sort of a mess with towels and knickknacks lying around.

Great location, walk 3 min to La Fontana spa and hot springs bathing! Food somewhat limited choices but great pizza! Good room with private bath, did have construction at the time so a bit noisy but stopped at 8 pm.

    Noise from construction repairs…

    9BryanPosted on: 8-10-2025

The place was a tidy with a nice breakfast.

    Would have enjoyed better pillows.

    10HeatherPosted on: 7-25-2025

Really enjoyed the historic value of the guesthouse. The staff were so welcoming. Breakfast was a treat! Great location to geysir and waterfalls. Enjoyed the Fontana spa next door. Thanks for the discount!

Odd art on the walls like embroidery of a child crying in the hallway.
