- There is no comparison, this is a completely different kind of hotel stay, you are in a renovated medieval building on a medieval street with cobbles. It was far and away the coolest place we stayed in our 2 week trip

- Review for a Magical Hotel in PérougesI recently had the most remarkable experience at this hotel in Pérouges, and I cannot recommend it highly enough! From the moment I arrived, I was enchanted by the authenticity and charm of the medieval village. Walking through the cobbled streets felt like stepping back in time, immersing me in an atmosphere that is truly unique and magical.Inside the hotel, the elegance of the décor perfectly matches the historical surroundings. Every detail has been meticulously chosen to reflect the traditional medieval style, creating an ambiance that is both cozy and luxurious. The warm lighting, wooden beams, and beautifully crafted furnishings make the interiors a pure perfection. The culinary experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The food served at the hotel’s restaurant was, without a doubt, the best I have ever had in my life. Each dish was not only a feast for the eyes but also a delightful journey for the palate. The chefs truly showcase the flavors of the region, using fresh, local ingredients that elevate each meal to a masterpiece.Beyond the stunning accommodations and food, the staff provided exceptional service. They were friendly, attentive, and genuinely invested in making my stay memorable. Their knowledge about the local area and their suggestions for activities made exploring Pérouges even more enjoyable. In addition to the breathtaking setting, I appreciated the peaceful atmosphere that surrounded the hotel. It was the perfect place to unwind, yet also conveniently located for exploring charming shops and historical sites within the village.Overall, this hotel in Pérouges exceeded all my expectations. It’s a hidden gem that offers an outstanding experience in an enchanting medieval setting. I can’t wait to return!
Cons -
- The parking is very confusing, there’sa lot of signs indicating that you can’t drive up there, but you can if you’rea guest which they could make clearer in the email they send. Also there’s no AC so if you go when it’s hot, you will be very hot.
- The toilet was across the opposite side of bedroom from the bathroom. Concrete spiral stairs to the 3rd floor bedroom.
- The musty smell and dampness also we had not been advised the restaurant would be closed, they told us on check in.

The food and ambiance of restaurant was great.
The toilet was across the opposite side of bedroom from the bathroom. Concrete spiral stairs to the 3rd floor bedroom.
The location of Pérouges medieval city is amazing so quaint and beautiful. We expected a fairly basic stay, the room was large the bed very basic a sheet blanket and bedspread one pillow each. The bathroom was spacious and the water hot. However the room was very musty and damp.
The musty smell and dampness also we had not been advised the restaurant would be closed, they told us on check in.
Really cool room in a beautiful little village. Good food locally and it was great to explore once the majority of the tourists left.
The bathroom was a little dated, but it functional and clean
What fabulous room - huge and so full of character. Excellent breakfast and good restaurant.
Getting my large car into the car park was a challenge but it’s a medieval town so only to be expected.
Wonderful medieval village beautifully restored
No tea/coffee facilities in the room and poor lighting in the room. Restaurant prices on the high side
Perouges is a must see village , takes you back in times at every corner ! So beautiful ! Thé hostellerie is a gem , its staff very courteous, and the dinner we had incredible
It was just perfect
The location in the center of a medieval village was just incredible, felt safe and other-worldly. The nearby restaurant was excellent and offered local dishes. The period furniture felt authentic. The garden outback overlooked the countryside and was dreamy at dusk.
There were a couple visible cleanliness issues. We were only staying one night so we didn't mention anything. The staff was very kind and I am sure these were oversights.
Historical value and location
I had the bed with the baldacain curtains. Historically interesting and beautiful but build for shorter generations. 185cm would be the maximum height to sleep comfortably. Other rooms beds were modern sized
Amazingly renovated, they managed to keep the old charm with the quality of modern materials and comfortable amenities!
We had a meal of regional specialities in their antique filled dining room in the historic building and village. Thank goodness for the owners of the hotel to have preserved this special hilltop village and the building!
The town and the artisans and shopkeepers are proud to be located in Pérouges. Their pride in the medieval village is palpable.
Amazing Atmosphere! Amazing Staff! Amazing Room! Amazing View! Amazing Dinner! Amazing Village! What more can I say! Oh, my breakfast was just fine, but not amazing! Thanks again! Had fun climbing the stone spiral stairway to my room! ????
right in the middle of this small medieval village. like stepping back in time. very large comfortable room. Great restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Room: the room is spacious and the bed is comfortable. The room and the hotel in general are extremely clean.Facilities: The Manoir has a nice terasse at the back which one shouldn't forget to enjoy. The parking is as close as a parking could be in a protected village like this one.Location: The hotel is inside the village which is very nice. Difficult to beat.
Room : The room is outdated. Some elements of decoration are meant to give off a medieval atmosphere but are just not that great looking put together. The bathroom is fairly old as well and the bathtub is not equiped with curtains. Small detail but the curtains of the canopy bed could not be open.Personel: The personel was not extremely pleasant. The lady who welcomed us introduced us the hotel at lightspeed.Other: The check-in is way too early. We came from far away and almost didn't make it because of traffic.
Amazing heritage property right in the Centre of town. Lovely medieval experience.
The room did not have air conditioning, although the walls were very thick in the room was an acceptable temperature. Probably nothing to be done about this because it’s a heritage property.
Village
The day we traveled all Restaurants were closed. Needs a walk to Meximieux.
It was clean
Luggage had to be carried up 2 flights of spiral stairs. The location was difficult for a car to access.
Cosy
No heating In the room which also was very dark
