Cons -
- The amenities in the room are zero. No coffee or tea In the room. Old TV. The snooker room is depressing. Don't even have chalk. Poor, but expensive breakfast.
- The staff was not welcoming or helpful with the town amenities. The apartments were dark and plain. Stay in a hotel room if you can.
- It's really only a stop over between Lisbon and the Douro Valley, which is fine, but not a lot of other things to see in the area.

History, architecture large rooms abd attentive staff
Clean, friendly staff, hugely historic, a great place to stay and unwind, highly recommend.
It's a really beautiful hotel converted from a 17th century manor house. The gardens are wonderful and the restaurant was very good.
It's really only a stop over between Lisbon and the Douro Valley, which is fine, but not a lot of other things to see in the area.
Beautiful old historic building restored to full glory while maintaining history ,yet including all modern amenities
Spring mattrass on a rather small narrow bedAccess signage along the roads could be improved
This is a stunning house which has been really tastefully converted into a fantastic hotel. It’s comfortable, interesting, inviting and relaxing, all at once. The experience is very like staying in your own (very grand) country house, with beautiful grounds and a wealth of history to explore, complete with attentive staff (especially the wonderful Diogo, who looked after us fantastically), and a brilliant chef. The food was excellent and the wines (produced on the estate) were delicious. We recommend!
Nothing to dislike.
Staff were so helpful, food excellent and plenty of history in the building
A very large hotel with spacious grounds and friendly staff
The food was not as good as on previous visits.
We loved everything about this place. It's a historic building, lots of charm, but still the rooms are very clean and modern. There's a museum on site and beautiful gardens. The restaurant was also SO good! The service was impeccable and the food fantastic. If you stay for dinner you have to try the cheese and jams they make on site. The 2017 red we ordered was also one of the best wines I've ever had.
Great location, immersed in the countryside. Besides the hotel in a lovely historic building, there is also a fantastic museum about the family that owned the property.
There is nothing that I would change about the hotel. I believe it will be a surplus if the recovery of lakes and property trails keep being done.
Very good breakfast. Lovely room. Check in staff excellent. Hotel grounds fabulous.
Nothing much although local town lacked restaurants.
A wonderful old house that had opened to the public. Great restaurant serving local food and wine from the vineyard in the hotel property. Friendly staff.

Superb breakfast. Beautiful property with lovely garden. Room was generous size, comfortable and with high standard fittings suitable for the age and character of the property. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The house was very beautiful, and the restaurant was delicious.
O did not like the fact that we are in Portugal and all information is written in Spanish. I was told they use the same stationary as the hotels in Spain , but if you are in Portugal I shouldn’t be reading information in Spanish.
Breakfast was good enough.Hotel location excellent.
Shops closed.
Almost everything! The grounds are incredible and their local wine is great.
The evening meal service was great, but food was only OK. Note....i don't eat seafood, so the rest of the menu could have been great. I just can't provide an opinion on it.
Everything was OK, place fantastic, good dinner and breakfast. Rooms a bit old but kept in very good state.
The setting and the history of the property.
There is confusion on booking.com pricing and pressure to change rooms that were not meant to accommodate our group. Will take the matter with booking.com
