About
In the seaside Poulithra Village, just 558 feet from a shingle beach, lies the traditional Byzantinon Hotel. It offers accommodations with Myrtoan Sea views. Free Wi-Fi in all areas and free private parking are provided. The traditional mansion, built in the local architectural style, retains an old-time glamor. Its guest rooms are carefully furnished with Coco-mat mattresses and flat-screen TVs. Some have traditional iron beds. Guests can start their day with a traditional breakfast including homemade pies and jams, fresh eggs and freshly squeezed juices. The picturesque village of Poulithra spreads amphitheatrically from the verdant foot of Mount Parnon to the crystal-clear, placid waters of the Myrtoan Sea. It is 5 mi southeast of Leonidio. Guests will find taverns and cafés within a short walk. Please be informed that we do not have the elevator on the property

Pros +
- Chris and George run a hotel that exceeds all expectations. You can tell from the moment you arrive that there are decades of hospitality experience behind how this place is managed and maintained. Greece is such a wonderful country and for anyone lucky enough to be in the area and experience time at the Byzantinon will know what true hospitality feels like!
- The hotel is solidly built and overall very beautiful. The owner communicates well and is highly interested in the well being of his guests. The hotel is close to a beach and also close to several restaurants. A buffet like breakfast is served every morning. Our room came with a balcony (sea view) and a kitchen, which is clearly a plus for people staying longer who want an alternative to the local restaurants. The Elona Monastery in the mountains is nearby, west of Leonidio.
- A cozy, relatively new, boutique hotel in the charming hamlet of Poulithra Leonidion. Located just three blocks from the beach, this cozy hotel was delightful. Clean, spacious rooms, ours overlooking the sea was romantic and comfortable. An excellent breakfast buffet with a nice assortment of eggs, meats, cheeses and other items from which to choose. We only spent one night here but would definitely return for a longer stay. As a bonus, the restaurant closest to the hotel on the beach was excellent. They have an extensive menu and everything we had there was fantastic.
Cons -
- No issues.
- The location of the Byzantinon is great, distant enough from the town of Leonidio, but also close enough for shopping etc. It is also close to the beach (east walking distance). Its tucked away nature also means that it is not easily accessible by car, i.e., the drive from Nafplio takes ca. 90 minutes via a winding coastal road. The road through the mountains to Sparta is not recommended. Most hotels in Europe serve cappucino and espresso as an option. This was not available at Byzantinon.
- There's little to complain about at the hotel but if I had to say something negative it would be that our room had a bathtub/shower combination. While many would like the fact that there's a tub, I found it constraining while taking a shower.

Everything! Location, room, staff
Friendly, clean, welcoming and close to the beach. A family owned hotel.
Great Host and awesome place with a perfect view. Christos is a very great host. He was always available and gave us a very warm welcome. Sharing some travel stories and recommendations about hiking, exploring the area and the best restaurant in the village. Also the apartment was perfect! Very comfi, clean and enough space. Sitting on the terrace and enjoying our lives:). We definitely are coming back!
Everything was perfect
Incredibly friendly people, great view, five minutes to the beach, really quiet
Very friendly staff. Exceptional breakfast. Very clean.
Outstanding. Super clean, stunning view, amazing cheese pie and lovely hospitality.enjoyed every single moment
Rooms were cozy and comfortable. Staff was extremely helpful with any questions we might have had. Breakfast was delicious. Location was excellent for us as we wanted a peaceful stay.
Nothing to dislike here. Everything worked for us beyond expectations.
We feel fortunate to have discovered this gem of a hotel. It's been a perfect week with my mother in law, who has limited mobility. She had a ground floor room with level access shower and a fabulous balcony with sea views, surrounded by olive groves, so was very happy. The rooms are so comfortable, spacious and perfectly equipped with everything you could need. We often bought fresh, local food and ate it on the balcony, although there are also wonderful tavernas within easy reach. The beach is also walkable within a few minutes. The family are incredibly helpful and kind, with impeccable English, and nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is immaculately clean, breakfast is generous and tasty. Parking is very convenient. We could not have wished for a more enjoyable holiday.
Everything was perfect.
We loved the pleasant efficient staff, the delicious healthy homemade breakfast, the relaxing music at breakfast, the spotless units, the tasteful decor, the exceptionally comfortable beds, the beautiful white crisp sheets, the short walk to the beach, excellent free wifi connection, the owner was knowledge about excellent places to eat and visit… we haven’t enough accolades for Christo’s, his family and staff.
There was nothing we didn’t like.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They showed us around the hotel and the room and helped us find climbing opportunities in the area. There was a restaurant within walking distance with delicious and fresh food. The area is super quiet and chill.
This hotel and its staff were exceptional! From the moment we arrived to our last day, Chris and his family made us feel completely at home and were helpful in every single way to ensure our stay was perfect, which it was! The rooms were spacious and well appointed, and the view from our balcony was phenomenal!
The location, the friendly management and staff, great room, plenty of views & very good breakfast.
We didn’t book long enough.
Nice, clean
Too many stairs for luggage and no one to help with it
Wonderful stay. The hotel is very pretty, well appointed and clean. It’s clear they put a lot of heart and soul into the place. The family that owns the place are very pleasant and shared many stories about their family, life experience and local tips about the region including a delicious restaurant. Felt like I was speaking to old friends. The town is also wonderful, very peaceful and pretty
My single dislike was that I didn’t stay longer
We were all delighted with our stay at this charming hotel. We were made to feel very welcome and special by the lovely hosts and staff. The location is excellent, close to the beach with a great restaurant within 5 minute walking distance. The rooms were spacious, immaculately clean and with stunning views. Breakfast was a treat. The hotel gets 6 stars from us! We look forward to returning.
We liked everything.
The owner's hospitality. The location is great. The apartment is spacious and clean.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The apartment was clean, comfortable and well equipped with a nice view of the water. The beach and local restaurant is a short walk away.
