    Pros +

    • The location, the breathtaking view of the mountains ,the hospitality, and the breakfast
    • Very Clean, bus stop at the property, amazing view from restaurant ,excellent breakfast , friendly owners.
    • Breakfast was great. They had good options and prices for dinner too. There is a bus stop that takes you down to the center of Ortisei right outside Albergo Somont. However, it's good to be aware that the last bus is around 7 pm during the week and earlier on the weekend. Without the bus or a car, it would be a bit of a walk, especially in winter weather. The room was clean and my balcony had an incredible view of the mountains and was a great place to watch the sunrise and sunset.

    Cons -

    • It is worth to speak German or Italian for English you may need translator.
    • My pillow wasn't the most comfortable.
    • Not a whole lot to critique here. The only negative would be the size of the rooms and the pillows are very very flat.

We genuinely can't decide what we loved the most about this hotel—the stunning location, the warm and welcoming staff, the charming interior, the breathtaking views from our room, or the incredible homemade dinners. Everything was simply perfect! Every day, we felt grateful to be staying here, as it truly has it all. The first bus stop to the city is conveniently located right in the hotel parking lot, making transportation effortless. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Despite the language barrier—we don’t speak a word of German or Italian, and their English isn’t fluent—communication was never an issue. Their kindness and willingness to help made all the difference. Our room had everything we needed: ample storage, a comfortable table and chair, and a spacious terrace with breathtaking mountain views—sure to be even more enjoyable in warmer weather. After a long, freezing day on the slopes, stepping into a scorching hot shower was absolute bliss. If you're considering dining elsewhere, don’t! The in-house meals were hands down the most delicious we had during our stay. Every bite was a testament to the love and care put into the cooking. The hotel also offers ski storage with boot warmers. All in all, this place exceeded our expectations in every way. We can’t wait to return!

The views are breathe taking. I'd argue some of the best in town. The value was incredible for how wonderful our stay was. The family that runs the hotel is so very friendly and helpful. They made us feel like we were right at home. The fact that we also got breakfast was very nice. Highly recommend ?

Great place to stay, quiet and few hike paths next to the hotel. Good breakfast and welcoming owner. Came in october, it was a bit chilly outside, but the room was nice and warm.

Mattress could be softer. Seemed a bit firm.

Awesome local cuisine. Rich breakfast, excellent view. Free public transport is incredible advantage. Even the English is not a preferred language here, we were able to manage everything :)

Excellent location with fantastic views. The hosts were very hospitable and pleasant people. Food options were limited but everything was home made in their kitchen and considering the location it was fantastic. There are some other restaurants within walking distance that had more options if one wanted something more fancy. Close to the city (5 min drive) from where all the cable car lifts start. Don’t miss the walk behind this house, up to the St Jakob church - beautiful views.

A little cramped room if you were carrying big suitcases but we had mostly small backpacks and carry on size bags.

    - Really silent and peaceful location 2km from Ortisei city center, still only a 30min walk to every cable car/funicular station in Ortisei and St. Jakob hiking routes goes right by the guest house- Amazing views to every direction: to the valley, mountain Sassolungo and even to a small waterwall!! Cute animals outside- There was a restaurant where we ate delicious traditional food with a good price and the breakfast was good (suitable for a vegetarian also)- The host was really friendly and helpful even though we didn’t have a common language

    - Prepare to pay the tourist tax in cash- You get a free bus card after check-in and the bus stop is at the hotel’s front yard but notice that the guest house is 2km uphill from Ortisei city center so if the bus doesn’t work or if you miss the last bus it’s going to be a sweaty walk up or taxi (there was a road work during our stay and we had to walk up every day)

The property offers spectacular view. The room is clean and comfortable. I have tried both the breakfast buffet and the dinner there and they were all delicious. The owner is super friendly and has given me many useful tips to explore the region. Staying at this place also comes with the complementary mobility card, with which you can travel the entire Sud Tyrol for maximum seven days.

Wonderful accomodation just outside of Ortisei. The view was absolutely amazing and everyone working there was very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was really good and there were a lot of options available. I also ate dinner at the hotel quite a few times and the food was very tasty and reasonably priced. The room was clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay again if I'm in Ortisei.

Honestly I liked everything, which is why I've rated it a 10. If there was one thing I'd improve it would be to put a small refrigerator in the room. This would have allowed me to prep some sandwiches for lunch when I was out hiking. However, I never expected there to be a refrigerator, so this would just be a bonus!

I loved the view and the hospitality. The host was very generous and always willing to help where possible. The food was delicious.

Location!! Excellent view from room and balcony. Rest of everything was just adequate; comparable to budget motel standards of USA. Hosts (family run establishment) were short on conversation (seemed reticent by nature; posible due to English language proficiency) but warm hospitable otherwise (aside from the check in experience). Room (especially bathroom) was small but we spent hardly any time in there for it to bother us; so much to see in the area. Water pressure in shower was remarkably delightful! Breakfast (mostly cold cut meats and cheese and bread) had homely touch and adequate spread to load up for the day.

The check-in experience was ugly. We had to argue for almost an hour (google translate by our assistance) to get the (mountain view) room that booking.com had described it to be. They just kept on shaking head and saying "not possible"; even seemed like using tactics trying to get us to aquiesce into a wrong side facing room. It would have been a hell of a difference in experience had we been meek and conceded (to theory that mountain view was available from lobby or front porch). Not entirely sure whether it was booking.com misinformation on their website or booking.com communication to the hosts or they were just acting up, but aside from this one bad experience, rest was good. One request to hosts - please add some bathroom toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, moisturizers; these are reasonable to expect at any stay these days; just providing hand soap seems a bit lacking. Also the towels could use an upgrade both in count and quality.

    location, view and food

our room was small with a slope ceiling

    10Dalei L.Posted on: 4-2-2024

The place was full and the gracious host offered us a free upgrade to stay in a beautiful and spacious apartment next door. What we loved the most was the piece of haven that was tucked away on the hill side overlooking a beautiful valley down into the town of Ortisei and with the majestic sassolungo mountain looming large on the left. There are plenty of hiking options around or you can simply sit on the lounge chairs soaking in the beautiful surrounding. The place was so quiet, the rooms were so clean and comfortable and the food in the restaurant was so good that we felt the four days we stayed there was just a blink. Although the drive on the map may seem a little far from the town, but it was quite surprisingly easy and quick to get in and out and on top of that the city bus stops right on the property's parking lot. Just take the bus to the seceda cable station saving you the hassle of finding parking.

The family that runs this hotel is really hospitable. My room was very clean and comfortable with a small balcony and incredible view. The strong shower pressure with steaming water is much appreciated after a long day in the snow. Breakfast is included and delicious. The hotel is also pet-friendly :)

    Everything was great!

Great location. Owners are super friendly, helpful people. View through the window is magnificent. Bus stop is just next door. Loved this place.

Could be a little cleaner and the pillow was not too comfy.

Quiet, comfortable Gasthaus, with home cooked traditional food (great Schnitzel).Beautiful location with amazing view of the Dolomite mountain Sassolungo.Bus service into Ortisei, near to the cablecar (frequent in the morning and evening) make it a convenient quiet location to stay for a ski trip.

Limited menu, though traditional food and well cooked. Staff have limited English, though are happy to try, and are welcoming. Last bus before 6pm, so not a location for those who want to try alternative venues, restaurants etc in the town.

Amazing location and very peaceful. not for a city lovers, but bus running often and convienent. If choose walking to town might be challengign?Breath taking views. Family run place.

    10kaleahPosted on: 10-8-2023

The views of the mountain in every direction!

The only way to commute is the bus or paying for taxi! So take a picture of the timetable. it’s a steep hill if you were to walk back to the b&b or down to the main square. But other than that, I very much loved my stay and would come here again!!
