Cons -
- Overall, the hotel has a lot of character, but it could use some updating. In our room, several basic amenities weren’t working properly—our AC, ceiling fan, fridge, and safe. The hairdryer was the old wall-mounted kind, and unfortunately not very effective. The high-speed setting caused it to shut off after about 10 seconds, the medium setting was very weak, and you had to continuously hold down the button while using it. It was a noticeable downgrade, especially compared to other hotels we’ve stayed at that offer modern appliances like Dyson dryers. The bathroom setup was also a bit awkward for us. It had a bathtub with a hand-held shower head and no curtain or partition. While this might be more common in Europe, it wasn’t something we were used to—sitting in a tub to shower felt inconvenient. There were also a few other small things that added up. For a hotel with nearly 100 rooms, having only 12 -15 double lounge chairs by the pool felt insufficient—especially since there’s plenty of space for more. The landscaping also looked a bit neglected, with weeds in several areas, which was surprising given the overall thoughtful design of the hotel. That said, despite these issues, the hotel offered a memorable and unique experience. The charm and setting still made it worth the stay, and I wouldn't rule out returning in the future.
- I wish they had more art classes available when I wanted to take them.
- Room was little dusty and few mosquitoes were there, in the room. Also when my husband opened the window, there were rat drops on the window sash, so we kept closing the window.

This review is written from the heart, because this place was simply amazing — and words cannot do it justice.Staying here felt like stepping into a vivid dream: full of colors, beauty, and peace. The photos are stunning, the reviews are glowing, and while they are all true, they cannot capture the experience of being here. This is much more than a hotel — it is a living center of Sardinian history and culture. Giovanna and her husband have done an exceptional job transforming what was once a humble family restaurant into an extraordinary universe for both locals and visitors.Time seems to stop inside. The property is larger than expected, with quite a few stairs (something to be aware of), and everywhere you look there are thoughtful details. The rooms are charming and comfortable, with beds designed for rest and interiors that feel like home rather than a typical hotel. The corridors are lined with art, traditional costumes, and books — a living tribute to Sardinia’s heritage. Take the time to explore it all; it’s worth it.From the garden with homegrown herbs and chickens, to the different bars, to the quiet corners filled with color and character — every space inspires wonder. Breakfast was lovely, with quality ingredients and plenty of choice, and during the day there were other dining options available. We also took part in one of their experiences — the centenary tradition — and it left us speechless. I won’t spoil it, because it is something you must discover for yourself, but it moved me deeply, and even now I feel emotional just recalling it. The combination of setting, food, storytelling, and history made it one of the most special experiences I have ever had. This is not just a place to stay — it is an immersive journey that makes you feel warm, cared for, and connected to something bigger.Thank you to Giovanna, her husband, and the whole team. We will absolutely be back, because once you’ve lived this, there is no other option. ♥
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The location is absolutely stunning—nestled right in the middle of the mountains, it felt peaceful and remote in the best way. The hotel itself has a rustic, artistic charm that we really loved. It’s low-key and relaxed, but still has a cool, stylish vibe. Our room was cozy and comfortable, and the balcony offered an amazing view. We also dined at the on-site restaurant two nights in a row, and both meals were fantastic.

Delicious restaurant for dinner, great breakfast as well. Very nice staff. I love how it is in the perfect location to experience both the best beaches on the island AND the mountain region.
I wish they had more art classes available when I wanted to take them.
Dining dinner was great. Great restaurant.

The quietness, the charm and the location
This hotel was a visual delight! The staff were fantastic, going above and beyond to accommodate us when the double room we booked could not be converted into two single beds for our adult children. They generously upgraded them to a higher-priced room while keeping costs reasonable, ensuring our stay was as seamless and enjoyable as possible. The hotel truly felt like the retreat they market to and although we only stayed for one night, we could easily see the value in extending our stay for several days. Please note, however, that there are a significant number of stairs and no apparent lifts, though the staff were always ready and eager to assist. Both breakfast and dinner were exceptional, offering a true feast, and the views were simply stunning. Dinner perhaps would be a little repetitive if you did stay longer as we did not sight an alternate menu to their amazing roasted meat delight!
The upstairs bar was eye candy, both in decor and vista - and a 'must-do' - straight out of a Morrocon movie set, but pricing was exceptionally high, enough for all of us to simply sample the first drink only and leave. And when there is a refurbishment of the rooms, it would be good to change the bed linen : in today's hospitality industry, the use of bedspreads or coverlets, and unwashed blankets in wardrobes, is becoming increasingly outdated. Guests, ourselves included, prefer not to sleep with linen that may have been used by others. Hotels that provide duvets with removable, washable covers, ensuring that guests sleep in freshly laundered bedding without decorative cushions or bed linen used by previous visitors, are setting a higher standard of cleanliness and comfort. The practice of using bedspreads and cushions that have been handled by prior guests is deemed vintage and no longer acceptable. This approach is the way forward in meeting modern guest expectations.
The restaurant was amazing as was the food. We didn’t really get to appreciate the place staying only 1 night.
The decore of the room was pretty but could do with some sprucing up. Grounds looked a little tired. The mattress needs replacing.
Giovana, Christian and staff were outstanding! They welcomed us like it were their own home (It sort of is). They gave us a great Sardo experience.
There wasn't anything to dislike. To many steps, but it was a good workout.
Staff were friendly, professional and helpful. The resort had a nice traditional feel about it, reminiscent of holidays before ill mannered tourists. The restaurants were good although be wary the portions are huge; we learnt to share. The seafood lunch restaurant was a find. There are many areas where you can relax.
I feel I ought to say steps but in all honesty they added to the character. E don’t like we have both put on weight; but the spit roast meats are fantastic
beautiful picturesque stay inland sardinia with an awesome bar and outstanding restaurant - wifi, shower pressure and temp, bath products and vibe were all awesome
bed was uncomfortable but would still stay again
Dreamy location and setting, amazing staff and food!
Slightly dated, room was very damp and bathroom had a mouldy smell
Su Gologone is truly an experience hotel, and one that requires some serious consideration for any traveller. The hotel grounds are a work of art in space, design and aesthetics. This spirit of beauty flows through to everything the hotel does - from its breakfast with stunning views to any of its many excursions on offer. A must visit.
the garden was beautiful, but unfortunately that was the only
this hotel is so dirty and promises things that aren't true at all. it has so much potential but everything needs to be renovated and a completely new concept for the hotel. the breakfast was also a disaster, everything looked stale and totally unloving. Pool was a disaster!!!
The staff was very nice efficient and seemingly intuitive. The property is very nice. Very picturesque but so is the entire region. It’s a bit like a summer camp that has seen its day.
The value is simply not evident in the experience. Perhaps if you are a family of four stuffing yourselves into a room and if you only want to have a hotel create your itinerary amongst other tourists, then this spot is for you. The pool needs to be resurfaced. The food is mediocre. The price for meals is very high for what you receive and for the quality.
Interesting concept, seems to be an old villa that has been refurbished to a hotel. Owners have a solid collection of traditional clothing and utensils.
Staff weren’t very friendly. Too many American tourists paying top dollar and likely complaining constantly has caused staff to be uptight and unfriendly—- didn’t seem like an Italian experience to be honest. For the cost I would expect better service to be honest but they are only game in town so can keep rates high and provide mediocre service.
The art everywhere adds a unique touch and makes the property special. Great food at the restaurants, excellent rooftop cocktails, amazing pool and very good spa. Gabriela took good care of us and she is really competent in understanding guest comfort. The veg garden dinner was outstanding and we really appreciation the packed lunch for our hikes.
The free WiFi wasn't the best. The sockets are the old 3 style plug so we had to unplug other devices to use the adaptor for our usual European plugs. Despite mentioning in the handbook in the room that they will replenish the water daily and keep us hydrated, we had to constantly keep asking for water.
The place had a lot of personal charm. A lot of staff. It was worthwhile to walk the entire property.
It's more of a recommendation: to provide a book of all the general activities offered and some general hiking maps starting from their location.
