Pros +
- It’s very clean and hotel is maintained beautifully. Breakfast was good, not exceptional with speciality coffees at additional price. The beds were comfortable and rooms generally were well designed and pretty. Views are beautiful from hotel. Whale watching was great and lots were seen. The staff were very friendly and tried their hardest but be aware that it’s Caribbean style service. After dinner the atmosphere was non existent, had to find a bar tender to find a drink.
- The resort is beautiful and the facilities are excellent. All of the staff were unfailingly lovely (especially Laura on reception)
- The hotel met all expectations. The property is gorgeous and the room was extremely spacious and comfortable. I really loved the double rain showers and bathtub, as well as the modern elements. Had a restful night's rest and didn't want to leave bed. Breakfast was included and also another highlight of our stay. Staff were also super friendly and helpful.
Cons -
- We found that the food needs to be rethought breakfast was very good but lunch and dinner for a 5 star hotel was not up to par .
- We booked superior room with ocean view and to preface, the resort had less than 50 guests in it (150 rooms), yet we were given a room (1141) with hardly any natural light and a view of plants (with about an inch of seaview). We asked to see another room and chose to upgrade to grand suite with ocean view. Since the occupancy was so low, it came as a big surprise that the room we viewed at arrival wasn’t available and actually no ocean view suites were available to move into that first night. For a 5* very new resort with the IHG name, it came as a great surprise that no complimentary upgrade, no complimentary cocktail, no gift or discount on anything was offered. The only option of wine in entire resort was Lindemans, which is the cheapest wine you can buy in England for about £3 per bottle and here they charged over £10 for a glass. We would have bought champagne if we could have. Didn’t clear empty room service until the following morning so it got ravaged by something. Twice, room service took 30+ minutes to contact and then 60+ mins to get for two simple main meals whilst restaurant had less than 10 people in it.Essentially it was beautiful but a little disappointing.
- The overall experience falls well short of 5* luxury. It is common to wait very long times for basic things, e.g. a wine list or some bread. When asking for something, there is approximately a 50:50 chance that it will be received. Often facilities are closed during their advertised opening times. The problem appears to be with systems at the resort rather than people. After we ordered room service, the plates were still outside our room four days later. On a separate note, the communications from the hotel to the guests are very poor- it was very difficult to find out information about excursions, which facilities are available etc.

Wish it was all inclusive so we could enjoy more without worry of the bill afterwards. There wasn't much to do on the property after certain times. It was also pretty quiet so more for relaxtion.
Beautiful location, well looked after. Staff really good and helpful.
Because it was “off season”, some things like food service were modified and not available, ie no buffet at breakfast, room service not always responsive.
Excellent setting in luscious greenery with beautiful modern building designs
F&B needs improvement
pretty isolated, pretty much stayed at the resort. Was not that impressed with the food.
food, always out of a lot of menu items, sometimes what you ordered was not as described.
The property itself is absolutely beautiful. The staff were very friendly and professional and helpful. They would go above and beyond to ensure you were happy with your stay. The rooms are large and comfortable, as well as the balcony. The bedding was the best of our 3 stays on the island, what you would expect from a high end hotel, slept very comfortably. Please be aware that there is not much in the surrounding area for grocery shopping or shopping in general, and very limited with surrounding restaurants. The staff recommended Madiba our second night (closed on Mondays), and it was our favorite place to eat. Very hidden, after Purple Turtle Beach.
We had dinner at the restaurant the first night, and my husbands prawn pasta dish was an absolute joke, especially considering the cost. An 8 year old could have cooked something up more appetizing. I ordered pizza for myself and twin toddlers, and it was perfectly fine -hard to mess up pizza. It was just very disappointing, and I am glad I did not try to order anything more expensive or fancy. There are not many options nearby, but I do advise eating anywhere else.
We loved the spectacular location, which offered easy access to hiking and snorkeling. The gardens on the property are beautiful , and there are incredible sunset views over the Caribbean from the pool. It is a totally relaxing atmosphere. The hotel staff are friendly and attentive. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed,as well as immaculately clean. The food is delicious. We especially loved the local specialties in the menu and enjoyed the selection of bush rums.
We loved everything about the property.
Absolutely stunning hotel by the sea and mountains. Staff were very warm and attentive. Housekeeping was excellent.
Every corner of this hotel had a picture perfect view of the island. It was absolutely stunning. The views, the scenery, the grounds were incredible. The beautiful landscape with the gardens and pools! Breathtaking
I stayed during the week for 3 nights. I would’ve loved if there was some sort of entertainment at night. The place was quiet everywhere. The food- In my honest opinion the food really needs to improve. It’s nice, but it’s not anything special especially for the price you pay.
It was the best hotel in Dominica. Really clean and nice and the staff were great. So friendly and helpful. Suresh the chef went out of his way to cook a special Indian food for us for a couple of nice which we appreciated a lot.
They had the same menu for the lunch and dinner everyday which was disappointing for such a nice hotel. If they can put variety in their menu would be excellent.
Exceptional property
Service was disappointing. Room service took an extraordinary long time and food often arrived cold. We were disturbed on mornings despite placing no disturb sign. We arrived at 9pm and had to wait to fill out a firm with taxi, then again written forms to fill out at front desk. We were told restaurant closed at 10 and sent downstairs to be told at 9:35 that the kitchen was closed and we needed to have in-room dining. At 9:45 we called in-room dining and were told we could not be served until after 10pm. Food arrived after 11pm.
The bathroom privacy is inadequate. You are still visible between the wooden door and glass.
It was very clean. The layout is nice.
Really beautiful, amazing rooms, lovely spa facilities, gorgeous sunsets, great cocktails.
The food was really not good, which was a shame, because everything else about this hotel is great. If I stayed there again I’d try to mostly eat off property.
The grounds and the setting/location are beautiful. Several pools available with varying depths.Nice fitness centre and amazing spa.
The staff are not very attentive especially in the restaurants.
The property is extremely clean, well maintained, the food was good and the staff is quite polite and welcoming.
There should be a choice of local food on the menu which guess can experience.
I was back to Portsmouth after 35 years! We loved our stay! The food and drinks amazing. Your staff all great people
Can’t think of anything
The room was amazing and the infinity pool was the icing on the cake!! The staff were very accommodating and made sure all our needs were met.
overpriced hotel
i arrived at the hotel at 18.00 and the room was ready at 21.00. for the money they charge that’s unacceptable. they have the coffe machines in the room, but no capsules because they run out. not acceptable for a 651 euro/ night
