Right inside the city walls, drive inside, walk to the castle ramparts, room was immaculate, terrace looked directly at the city walls, both were very friendly, easy walk to everywhere, nice but not the best breakfast we've had in Portugal.

Unable to find using GPS, we had to park and walk into the walled town, find the hotel, get their map, then drive up.

No slippers or robes in the room and temperature was a little difficult to operate in the rooms

Staff is excellent. They took care of the details. It was our anniversary, and special attention was received.

Restaurant options were very American. Only one Portuguese option. Breakfast was great, tho. And the staff at the breakfast was awesome.

The property was absolutely wonderful. It has a great breakfast. There was a restaurant on site with happy hour. The staff were amazing. We had trouble getting a taxi to the train station so one of the employees drove us.

Might not be easy for some people to get to with their luggage if mobility is at all an issue. No problem for us though.

On the positive side, the location is great — right inside the medieval walls — and I had a lovely view from my window. The hotel does send an email explaining how to get there (important since cars can’t enter the walls), and while that part is a bit stressful, it’s also part of the charm of staying in such a magical old town.

The hotel itself is fine, but I want to highlight something important for future travelers. If you’re placed in the adjacent building, please know it’s not the same quality as the main hotel — and I agree with many other reviewers who feel this shouldn’t be rated as four stars.The adjacent building feels more like a converted hostel or dormitory. You receive only a door code (no staff or attendant), and the hallway and stairwell were dark, echoey, and not very clean. My room wasn’t soundproof at all. Inside, it was clear the space had been converted — there were two old shower stalls and a tiny toilet cubicle incorporated into the room layout.I feel the listing is misleading. The main hotel might well be four-star, but the adjacent building is not. When booking, I recommend asking specifically to be placed in the main building to avoid disappointment. I’m not a high-maintenance traveler, but this felt like a bit of a bait-and-switch experience.

Filipa was a wonderful and accommodating host. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. We welcome and at home. The room was comfortable and clean, nicely appointed. The location was perfect. I suggest packing lightly, as rolling luggage over cobblestone streets is tricky. Obrigada Filipa and staff for helping us with our bags.

We were warmly welcomed with complimentary Ginjinha, and the staff went above and beyond to celebrate our special occasion with a complimentary bottle of champagne — such a thoughtful gesture! The breakfast was delicious, and our room was spacious and comfortable with a charming outdoor sitting area. Every member of the staff was exceptionally kind and attentive.

While the bed itself was comfortable, the pillows were so thick and dense that I woke up with a stiff neck. I would also have appreciated having more packets for in-room coffee. And some tea bags. But I’m also sure that if I had asked, the staff would have gotten me some!

The breakfast room is hosted on a craft beer room which does not share the look and feel of the rest of the hotel - plus the food avaulable often ran out and what was avaiable was limited

The rooms are comfortable; size is good, balcony or patio nice, good bed and lighting. The breakfast buffet is excellent with variety for everyone and high quality food. The servers are super friendly and accommodating. Front desk staff nice and helpful.

The only thing we didn’t care for was the access to our shower: the glass partition doesn’t move and the tub has a steep end for relaxing baths which makes it a little challenging to get in and out. Someone with limited mobility would find this very difficult. Also the placement of the brass knob doorstop on the floor: stepping on it is very painful and almost likely because it’s in the small space left to step onto the foot from the shower.
