- Why is there one switch that controls all the lamps and outlets? We tried the other ones and ended up having to just unplug all the lamps to charge our phones.I have stayed at castle properties before and was a little underwhelmed with the decor!
- -pillow was less confortable for me, sorted it second night by better positioning
- Only one available electrical outlet in my room, and not convenient to either the bathroom or near the bed.

Astounding views high above the Rhine River. Lovely grounds, convenient parking. Food in the restaurant was excellent and staff was attentive. Furnishings were comfortable but being a very old building there was a lack of convenient electrical outlets at least in mine.

Exceptional location, on a rock high above the river, with amazing views (also from our room) over the valley. We had reasonably quiet nights, thanks to the excellent insulation - you cannot sleep with windows open as there is 24/7 continuous road, water and rail traffic right below the Schloss. Very comfortable and large room (we had junior suite).
it is a long and steep climb on foot from the town to the hotel! There was no AC, the days were warm, and the room warmed up, so we had to balance during the night between open (noisy) and closed (warm) windows.
clean, comfortable room, great breakfast, great restaurant for dinner, nice informal diner for happy hour with a great terrace and view. Very friendly staff
The only taxi service in town has shut down so to get a taxi from the train station, as recommended, they have to come from a neighbouring town. Which of course adds to the fare. So it becomes quite expensive to get yourself and your luggage about 1km up a very steep hill.
Overall good. Location is amazing.
1. They provided a fan only after asking. I feel, given the heat, fans should be provisioned for in each room. 2. Breakfast can have a few more vegan options
The spa and sauna facilities were awesome. Great hotel! Nice bathroom. Loved that they had a bathtub and wash clothes
It was a hot day. The attendant said they had ac in the rooms. Not so much. It was an awful night of trying to sleep because our room was a sauna
Breakfast was fabulous, although we all wished for cooked/fried bacon and sausage. I suppose that's an American thing, though. The eggs looked like the powdered kind, not freshly scrambled from individually broken eggs.... Cheaper hotels do that and they don't taste as good.
We arrived on June 14th, probably the hottest day of the year. Our rooms were soooo hot, and none of us slept at all - just laid there and sweated. And the second night was only a little better. I would highly suggest putting fans in the closet since there's no air conditioning in the hotel. There was also a VERY LOUD party on Saturday and that also interrupted probably everyone's sleep. I would have expected the hotel staff to ask them to be respectful of everyone's sleep. They were yelling until 2am!
It’s a well maintained beautiful hotel. It’s so quiet you can only hear the birds. Staff were helpful, food was great. We would love to visit and stay here again.
The heating was a little to high, so the only way to keep the room cool was with the window opened, but that made the train noise able to be heard…
The lady at the Wellness centre was really sweet , the location is great and definitely great massages that give you the much needed relief
The stay was nice but there was one elderly lady at the reception who welcomed us who was very off putting . When we asked her if there was a room with a balcony available she made all the excuses to not allow us to move to another villa which was actually larger and more spacious. We asked the cost details for the balcony room but she continuously made statements persuading us to stay in this room like “this room would actually suit you because it is in the schloss , we would need to clean this room again if you enter” , “this room would be more suitable for you” , she had this racist vibe which was really not welcoming . Other than her the hospitality at this hotel is also not great for foreigners because they tend to treat them differently. But the lady at the massage or wellness centre was really sweet and she treated everyone with the same vibe I would say . I would NOT return to this hotel because I would give a minus on the hospitality section .
Beautiful scenery, nice place!
Too expensive for what you get, especially considering the prices on the website were much cheaper just a few days before. The sauna is underwhelming.
The view at breakfast over the Rhine was spectacular as was the breakfast itself.
St Goar was disappointing as was the castle where there is a lot of renovation going on.
This is one of the most unfriendly hotels for families I have ever visited.
Don’t come here when you have children and like to use the facilities of the hotel as a family. Children are allowed in the swimming pool untill 16:00 (this is not advertised). Various staff members told me in an unfriendly way that children should be quiet and aren’t allowed to play. This hotel is really not for families.
The location, the restaurant stunning view, breakfast and dinner amazing experience
Would be great if there is a lobby with access to the wonderful view, to have coffee or just relax
Excellently located along the Rhine with magnificent view on boats passing below. Nice wellness. Parking on site. Great breakfast and dinner.
Special castle with beautiful view and place to have breakfast. Truly worth visiting also for 1 night stay. Lovely sauna/pool.
