Pros +

  • Amazing family run homestay. Unique building and great restaurant
  • Nice owner, relaxing and incredible views, spacious room, hammock & rocking chair on terrace
  • Beautiful view of sunset and lake, very quiet

Cons -

  • Location is far away but the sunset makes up for it.
  • VERY remote, as a solo traveller found this quite daunting (last 2km min on dirt road). Barely saw anyone else around so not much vibe and no one to interact with (fine if that what youre after but I thought the restaurant would be a bit more buzzy). Checked in after 6hrs travel around 6pm and told must order dinner now as restaurant was closing, hadnt even put bag down then went up room, came back for food around 7pm and a new table was there ordering dinner, felt a bit put out by that. Discovered I was not confident enough on a scooter / motorbike (esp in the dirt roads) by myself which made me feel even more isolated (booked a car + driver for a day instead as didnt want to risk it. My problem, but just alerting any other potential solo travellers who may end up in sane position. Waited almost an hour for breakfast of fresh fruit and yoghurt only (when there was no one else in the restaurant). Given one towel for stay, no hand towel, (bare minimum) or face cloth (understandable as not everyone does). Cold shower (fine but was not that warm at night if showering at end of long day). No shelf or anywhere to put toiletries in bathroom. Had to put on floor - could be a very easy fix/ Rubbish bin in bathroom (filled with used toilet paper) not emptied once during 4 night stay-gross. No lights most of the way between restaurant & room (had to use phone torch). No bedside lamp, turned main room light off and slammed my leg into wooden post at end of bed resulting in big bruise (yes could have / should have used phone torch, lesson learnt for the other nights, but also an easy fix by hotel?!) Finally, not necessarily a negative thing, more an fyi for future travellers, the restaurant doesnt sell any alcohol, after a 6hr transfer I was keen for a refreshing Toa but not possible (and I was too chicken to go out in the dark down the steep jungly driveway to go buy one elsewhere on my first night!), just something to note
