Pros +
- Location and staff were lovely. Very easy to get to. Charming historical building and garden right on the Liore. Brand new spacious bathroom. Room was spacious with 14 foot high ceilings with a peekaboo view of the river and a view of the garden from the bathroom. Restaurant on site was good but short staffed.

Cons -
- Accessibility is limited due to no elevator. Bed was a double not a queen even though the room was very spacious so a bit tight for two people. Room was cold. At least extra blankets were provided. Walls were bare (no wall art in the room) so it felt cavernous not cozy.
- we could not check in to the hotel as there was no staff available. The building smelt urine and was dirty. We had to leave and find another hotel. I left the note for the missing staff -- but received no reaction. I think Booking.com should charge back the money and return it to me -- and totally blacklist so called "hotel".
- The room was terrible. It was dated and the bed was two singles put together with no zip so the bed moved apart.Bathroom dated and shower not great.

This could hardly be classified as a hotel, more ‘rooms to let’. You have to use a key code to gain entrance to the ‘hotel’ (not ideal when it is pouring with rain). There was supposed to be someone on reception between 4 and 6pm, we arrived at 5pm, there was absolutely no-one around and we were expected to use an interactive screen in the porch to fill in our details, order breakfast and pay for it by card before the room keys were dropped into a slot. Then we had to traipse around the garden (in the rain in our case) looking for the entrance to our room. This turned out to be up a rather rickety staircase on the second floor. As my husband is elderly I had to make three trips up and down the narrow staircase with our few bits of luggage as there was no-one to help.Dinner was in a restaurant in the cellars (cave) of the same building but presumably under separate management as we had to pay for our meal before leaving
A superb position looking over the Loire. Large rooms comfortable beds lovely restaurant.
The reception was not open on arrival. There was an efficient code system but it was a shame not to have a welcoming face on arrival.
Room was nice and spacious with a desk and sofa and two beds. Excellent view of the river which was an unexpected bonus.
Check in screen did not work to start with but the staff were very helpful and fixed this remotely - overall excellent service
The location of this hotel is excellent. Views of the river & easy walks to all the bar’s & restaurants. The room was clean & the bed was very comfy
Common areas are in bad repair. The shower was a drizzle & the only member of staff we came across, the woman who took our key from us in the morning, was probably the rudest, unfriendliest person I’ve ever come across. She snatched the key & could barely say goodbye. This isn’t a joke. This was exactly what happened.
We had a beautiful big room on the ground floor and although we appeared to be the only guests we were given excellent service. The dinner was good as was the breakfast, served on the terrace overlooking the Loire.
No complaints.
It was nobody in the reception...for oud person was very difficult with machine check in...
beautiful located castle along the Loire river. I was mid january so off season hence nobody except two other guest. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed this time of the year. The place is wonderful, and the breakfast was very good. Nice and friendly staff in the morning. Make sure you read your confirmation mail as it contains entrance code for the door and a reservation code you need to get your key from a machine if reception is unstaffed. Room 102 is spatious, original with wonderful beams, fireplace and windows, yet brand new bathroom facilities.
nothing negative, really
Very unusual hotel but interesting building. Very French oldy worldy. A bit spooky as there was no one there. The meal was excellent but very expensive.
It looked closed up, no lights or anything on. No one there when we arrived. We had to work our way through the entrance gate, then a machine for the key, and then find our own room.
Great location with nice views of the river. Quiet area along the river but still near the village center. Large room and bathroom with some old beams for charm. Everyrhing was clean and good value for October. Restaurant was very good and nice ambience. 3 course menu was very good for around €35-39pp
Check in was until 21.00 if I remember correctly. Hotel had sent an email after booking but had not read the email while driving. Reception was already unattended at arrival at 19.30 so a bit of confusion until I read the email that said there is a check-in machine to the right of the entrance door. Checked in with the machine and it gives you the room number and then the key also. You will need a card to pay the tourist tax with this same machine also. Except for the restaurant we never saw anyone from the hotel reception.
This hotel, Louis XI, is in need of some serious investment.
No one to greet us on arrival. Machine to 'log in' didn't work, in that our room key hadn't been returned to the machine for my wife and I to retrieve it. Had to wait ages before someone appeared to unlock reception to retrieve said key.Incidentally we arrived at 5:45 pm. So certainly not late. When we eventually got in to our room, it was very cold and the shower was broken. With a lovely location by the Loire it could be a stunning hotel if run properly.
Great location in a lovely setting. Friendly staff and very helpful.
Difficult to check in before 1500hrs despite very long journey.
Beautiful building on the banks of the Loire. Gorgeous courtyard and patio. Spacious room with very comfortable bed. Short walk into the pretty little town.
Nothing, it was lovely.
The site was wonderful waking up alongside the Loire. Having Mosquito nets for the windows was fantastic. Breakfast was wonderful, including a little drink being provided?
It wasn't about not liking it was more about my lack of reading the small print. Restaurant not open the night we arrived on the Thursday. Also, be mindful 2 flights of stairs may be problematic
The view of the Loire was fantastic
Stairs Breakfast very basic.Restaurant was basic
The location, the building, the breakfast, the staff. I liked the fact that there was a shower and not a bath, or a bath with a shower over.
That the room was on the second floor. At the age of 87 and 79 it was not easy to climb the stairs or going down. It has taught me to be more careful when choosing a hotel or ask the right questions.
wonderful setting on the Loire. Breakfast simple but good.easy parking right outside the hotel. Cannot rate the restaurant as we did not eat there.
The location on the banks of the Loire was excellent with incredible views. We are breakfast and dinner outside overlooking the river. We will return.
