About

Hotel Penelope is a family-run hotel, located on the south-east coast of Corfu, in the small fishing village of Boukari, only 197 feet away from the sea. Corfu Town is 14 mi away and Achilleion Palace is at 7.5 mi. Located in an olive grove, the recently renovated Hotel Penelope welcomes guests in rooms with brand new bathrooms, satellite TV, fridge and furnished balcony. Some have a flat-screen TV. Continental breakfast can be enjoyed daily at the veranda next to the citrus-tree garden. Besides the hotel’s tavern and bar facilities, Penelope’s guests enjoy free internet connection and parking. The nearby sandy beach is only a leisurely walk from the hotel, where guests may find the property's fish tavern. Nearby Blue-Flag beaches include Agios Georgios, Issos, Santa Barbara, Vitalades and Moraitika all within 10 minutes. Hotel Penelope's staff can arrange boat trips to Paxos, Blue Lagoon or Albania daily.

    Pros +

    • It was pure pleasure to be there! A wonderful owner who was very helpful and hospitable. You can feel like at home. As for the hotel, clean, well-kept and well-equipped. A plus was the swimming pool, which was open until 9 p.m. Very good breakfast, everyone will find something for themselves. A big advantage is that the facility is very close to the sea. The only thing that was bothersome was the lack of public transport. We will definitely come back to this place.
    • The host was really accommodating and friendly. It's a lovely quiet neighbourhood with everything to hand. A local shop. Excellent taverna owned by the hotel owner was delicious ? and a short walk away. The room is spacious and was very clean. Short drive the local town with more shops and tavernas. Overall we loved it.
    • Cute little hotel near the sea. Breakfast was lovely

    Cons -

    • The swimming pool was cold but we did go in October.
    • Our room didn’t look like the one I had booked online
    • - A lot of mosquitoes inside (even with a net in the window) and wasps outside.- While showering, water would easily go to the rest of the bathroom’s floor and sometimes the water in the toilet wouldn’t stop running after flushing.

It was lovely and quiet, the pool area was great, peaceful and very clean. The breakfast was wonderful every morning with a real variety for all. Our room was cleaned every day and we felt very well looked after. The family who run the hotel and taverna were always incredibly polite and helpful. You can really tell it a lovely family run business. We will be sure to be back with our own family. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

Breakfast was very good- pancakes; eggs and omelettes were plentiful. Room was sizeable

Bathroom drains did smell rather unpleasant in the hotel roomBar was self service which was good but needs to specify that it’s cash only at the end of the stayThe owner is not always present as he also works his local Taverna. This isn’t that much of an issue as if you need to see him, his daughter calls him and he attends in up to 10 mins.

If you are looking for a quiet place to relax (out of the crowd city), is the best place to stay.

The staff should give more attention on the room cleaning, not only the public areas. For example the stainless steel surfaces (ie bath accessories, lights next to the bed) should be shined. A renovation to modern style would be an ideal.

Plus:The building well built - All rooms have sea / pool view.We had a nice room and also bigger than the rest. It had balconyWell equipped for kitchen - even of we didn't cook :)A lot of space in closetsPool clean, warm water, showerAlso I've appreciated the trust they have in their customers - at the pool-bar it's self-service. You consume and write what you consumed, you'll pay at the end of holiday. You can't be a moron!!!!

Minus: water pressure on bathroom sink1 big towel has been changed after 5 days, when I have let it on the floor. The other ones not.We didn't like the breakfast- it was exactly the same each day but everywhere in Greece is the same. I'd suggest one say to serve salami, in the next one prosciuto and so on. It looks varied this way :)

Owner is wonderful including the staff! Comfortable and cleanliness was 10/10

Friendly and helpful staff. 3min walk to the sea. Collection of local tavernas to choose from. Good breakfast. Small number of rooms made for a more personal experience

    9RobertPosted on: 8-2-2024

Nice sea view from the balcony. Super friendly staff. Pool and selfservice bar.

Sometimes you could smell waste pipes in the bathroom but nothing crazy.

Kostas was a great host! Wonderful hotel in a wonderful location, liked the self service bar set up, and having the pool to ourselves on our first day. Also, the shower had a door! First time in Greece I've seen this (as opposed to nothing and floods the bathroom!) We added on breakfast two out of 4 days and was pleasantly surprised - pancakes and spanikopita on one day and loukmades on the other! Yum!

The beds weren't very comfortable, unfortunately. Very hard and annoying it was two beds pushed together for a double (standard in Greece). Coffee wasn't great.

I loved that it was so close to the sea and that it’s away from the touristy hustle and bustle! This is an ideal spot for those that want a break from it all and close enough to some amazing restaurants! The pool was lovely and for the first few days I pretty much had it to myself! Bliss! Rooms are lovely and clean - plenty big enough to be comfortable and has aircon! Kostas and family really do pride themselves on ensuring you have an amazing stay! If you don’t rent a car and come when the temperatures are hot, take them up on the offer for a lift to Boukari Beach restaurant! OMG the food is delicious and you can get tables right on the sea front! “Cash is king” in Boukari - especially for the mini markets/ taxis

This family hotel ticked all the box’s for us. Kostas kindly organised our transfer when we arrived. The family do their best to make you feel at home. Breakfast to me was lovely fresh fruit, homemade cakes, preserves, fresh bread. The hotel was spotless, our room was modern, comfortable beds. The area is great a short walk to the beach and 4 local restaurants, 1 being the owners restaurant which was excellent. The pool area and bar was great which was self service.I would recommend a car/scooter to see other parts of corfu. On departure our transfer was organised and a room to shower and change ( room was offered to us)

I loved the pool area no one put towels down all week until the last day I would hate this culture to escalate as it is one of my main annoyances.

The location of the hotel to the beach

Breakfast selection was very Greek. Some European food

Location, the friendly staff, wonderful pool, great price.

You get what you pay for - it’s an excellent budget hotel and you’re unlikely to get better in this price bracket.

A memorable stay from start to finish - welcoming and always willing to help. The breakfast buffet was fresh and offered a great choice of warm & cold options. The pool was a cool oasis in the afternoon sun, and long enough for a few "fitness lengths" too :-)

No issues or problems - all good!

If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful holiday, this hotel is a good choice. The room was small, but we didn't spend much time in it, we didn't mind it. The welcome was nice, the owner was polite and even during our stay he often smiled at us. There is a large swimming pool, which was clean and there were many sunbeds. There is a shop and a couple of restaurants nearby. If you want to go to a bigger and sandy beach, you definitely need to rent a car. There is a lot of parking space in the hotel.

The room didn't look like on the photo and the concept of deep cleaning probably hasn't been heard in this hotel before. They cleaned the rooms every day, but if you looked under the bed or behind the curtains, there was a pile of dust. There were cups in the room, but they were dirty. Safe did not work. According to the description of the room we should have had soap and schampoo in the bathroom, but we got it only on request. The first evening we showered in cold water, as we were not informed that the boiler was not on and there was no one at the reception to help us with it. Toilet paper was replenished every day, but the towels were not changed even once. There is no laundry dryer anywhere, there is nowhere to hang up wet swimsuits and it happened to us that they didn't dry until the morning. The mattress on the bed is very hard, which I evaluate neutrally, everyone likes it differently, but my back was hurting the second day. The lamp was missing a light bulb.Breakfast is rich, but the quality of food is poor and every day there is the same choice, coffee without taste, in eggs we found shells 3 times, and I saw how in the kitchen they load pancakes with their hands. There are an awful lot of mosquitoes and wasps, which make your stay incredibly unpleasant, and at breakfast the wasps literally crawl into your plate and food.
