Aparthotel Barracuda

The hotel is located on a beach where each morning you can observe surfers from your private balcony. It was quiet and well kept. You could experience both sunrise and sunset since the balcony faces to the south. Continental Breakfast was great!

The shampoo and soap for the bathroom was not replenished after the first day.

It was located right next to the beach front. Complementary breakfast was included and staff were very helpful and friendly!

The air conditioning system could have been a little stronger.

There was an odor in the hotel, although not in our room.

Location was perfect, beachfront hotel, very clean, no frills though for people who want a luxury beachfront resort this isn’t that.

Air conditioning only worked the last of our 5 day stay

Good location, right on the beach with direct access from the hotel. However, you’ll need a car to reach Ponta Delgada. The rooms are spacious, with a large terrace facing the ocean, and they are cleaned daily to a decent standard

On the downside, there is no air conditioning. A fan can be requested, but only if available (in our case, we got one just for the last few days). The property is very outdated, with many things falling apart—even something as basic as the toilet brush.Breakfast is extremely poor. After two days, we gave up and just went for coffee, which itself seemed to be instant rather than freshly brewed. You have to request almost everything—soap, a fan, sometimes even toilet paper. Staff do provide it, but only after requests.Parking is public and always overcrowded, so expect to leave your car far from the hotel. There are no grocery stores within walking distance, and the only nearby restaurant is not particularly good.

The Staff, The sound of the Ocean. So wonderful after a long travel day. The breakfast room. Nice Heater / Air conditioner. The restaurants right nearby and the big sandy beach.

The view was amazing! Breakfast was awesome! The room had everything we needed and more.

The beds could be softer but this was our third Azores bed and they seem to like them hard.

This place is absolute beachfront. Great surfing beach. About 5km to Ponta Delgada. Has kitchenette and fridge …so save money by buying at local supermarket.

Would have preferred a queen bed… had two singles side by side.

Amazing view! The room has a private balcony right on the crashing waves of the ocean! The breakfast is good; eggs, meats, a few pastries, and bread. The room is clean and it has convenient free parking.

The mattresses are a little hard. The room is also dark.

Well-equipped apartment with a small kitchen, balcony and ocean views. The apartments and hotel is well maintained but they don't invest much in new equipment anymore. However, everything in absolutely sufficient quality.

I can just sit on my balcony all day, listening to the Ocean waves; watching the Ocean changes his mood...It is a beautiful location.This is not a luxury hotel, but you have all you need. Every staff is friendly. I had very early flight, they open the breakfast room for me at 3:30am. I really just need a cup of coffee to wake up. ?

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the hotel over Christmas. The quiet atmosphere, with only a few other guests, may have added to our enjoyable experience. The hotel is situated right on the beach, and all the spacious balconies face the ocean, which is simply fantastic. While it’s not in the city center, this suited us perfectly. The room was large and included a separate kitchenette, which was very convenient. The staff was very friendly.

The kitchenette lacked a kettle, so we had to use the electric stove to boil water, which took forever:(The breakfasts were quite bland and remained the same throughout the week.

We traveled in the low season -- end of November. The rooms are nice. The hotel is on the beach, so you can access the beach and the sea from the backside of the hotel. The water was 24 degrees Celsius, so we went swimming every day. A bit of bad luck: thousands of small jellyfish were at the beach the last two days, so there was no swimming. Great, standard breakfast. A unique part of the hotel is that the sea is so close that you fall asleep with the sounds of the waves in your ears. The staff is very friendly, as almost everybody on the island. A taxi or a tour guide is just a telephone call away, so we made some nice trips on the island. A beautiful 40-minute walk along the sea takes you to the edge of the old city and 10 minutes more takes you to the old part. YOu get great value for money.

There is a small price to pay for being to close to the ocean: a bit of humidity. For instance, the bathing suits do not dry well, but luckily there is a hair dryer available.

Minimalistic. The person working there wasn’t very friendly or outgoing…

Food selection, quality…the egos were dry and overcooked.

Easy parking. Location on beach was nice especially if you surfed. must have a car not much within walking distance.

Breakfast was included, started off ok but less was offered as week went by. Definitely could use a change.

Exceptionally beautiful. We were on the 3rd floor overlooking the black sand beach and wonderful surf. We kept the patio doors open day and night so we could enjoy the sound of the pounding surf as we slept.The breakfasts were outstanding with a variety of food and drink to choose from. We sat in a section overlooking the beach.The hotel is centrally located and made it easy to drive to all the sights on the Island.The staff was very friendly. The hotel provided towels for the beach or if we went to the volcanic pools for us to use.

Parking was a challenge during different times of the day since the beach is very popular with surfers, hikers and sunbathers. there are 3 small restaurants that also use the same parking lot but we were always able to find a spot.
