Hotel Restaurant Waldhaus

We LOVED our stay at Waldhaus Leukerbad. I was looking for a place to give visiting friends a taste of charming Swiss chalet / alpine atmosphere, and this hotel was perfect. What an idyllic spot. The hotel is situated right at the top of the village, nestled up against the forest, with spectacular views, many walks (and in winter, skiing) beckoning right out the front door. We signed up for the multicourse pension dinner, and loved every course! All at an incredibly reasonable price. The hotel gives special attention to the marvelous wines of the Valais (this region of Switzerland). We ordered wines by the glass in order to taste a variety - including a lovely white house assemblage of Chardonnay and Heida. The staff are so kind and attentive. Our friends also enjoyed the extensive collection of Grappa! Last but not least, our little chihuahua was thrilled with the special attention, bowls and blanket laid out for him, and even a bag of treats that our picky eater actually loved! What a delight all around.

Not a "dislike" but just a warning for those driving that the road to Leukerbad is long and dramatic with many sharp switchbacks. It's very well maintained, and part of the total experience, but something to be aware of. Your reward for the effort awaits you at the top.

Nice room-old Swiss style. Nice shower, tremendous restaurant and knowledgable staff, excellent front desk staff. Very clean room lobby and restaurant. Games and things to do in the lobby. Also lots of information about things to do in the area.

Sheep with bells on an adjoining farm at 2 am! Room was warm so we opened the windows & hear the sheep bells constantly.

Everything was awesome. Sandra at the front desk was amazing. The partner of the owner's son was super nice and helpful to my wife. The room was great. The view was spectacular and we had the six course dinner and were very pleased. This is a great property and you can tell the people that work there are very happy and proud of the place.

The beds are great, but ask for an additional pillow. One soft pillow per person was not enough for us

Brilliant service, we really felt welcome at the hotel. It so nice to stay in a place that is so friendly. Lots of great advice about where to go hiking. Food was delicious. The hotel is perfectly located for hiking.

Our experience at the Waldhaus in Leukerbad was amazing. The hotel is situated on a beautiful street, yet very very close to the center and the thermal spas. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special, surprising us with an upgrade to a beautiful balcony room. The breakfast was delightful, and we highly recommend having dinner and lunch at their restaurant - the food was amazing and the service so kind and familiar. We are already looking forward to our next visit and cannot recommend the Waldhaus enough to others.

My husband and I had a greatest time and experience at the Hotel Restaurant Waldhaus. It is a cozy, family owned hotel in Luekerbad with a warm feel to the place. Joshua, the concierge, was kind in answering all the questions I had anticipating our stay with them. The staff was friendly and helpful in providing for all our needs. The ski lift, rental stores, and thermal baths were all within a 10 minute walk and great deals were provided by the hotel. There’s a ski trail that takes you straight back to the hotel! So awesome after snowboarding all day and not wanting to walk back. The restaurant was fantastic and the food was delicious. The owners greeted us during meals and were very friendly. It was a great experience, hosted by the kindest family, and we will definitely stay again.

Breakfast was fabulous! Great selection of yogurts, breads, fruits, meats and cheeses. And all so fresh!

Mrs Evelyne and the staff at the hotel were beyond amazing. My girlfriend lost her suitcase on the way there and the owner of the hotel offered to let her borrow some of her own clothes so that my girlfriend would have something nice to wear for dinner. Also, the staff at the restaurant were very kind and helpful specially seeing as my girlfriend is vegan; instead of the usual sighs of disappointment when she said she is a vegan, they were happy to adapt the menu, and on the second and third nights they had even prepared dishes specially for her. This was by far the best customer experience I've ever had in a hotel. I highly recommend staying here.

We had a wonderful experience during our stay, the beauty of places was completed by the warmth and friendliness of hosts.All offerings included in the booking came at their best quality (ex: breakfast, room, tourist information, free sky pass and cable car etc.)

Leukerbad was a little down because of Covid, but still the owner and staff did everything they could to make our stay pleasant. Their dedication to wellbeing of the guests is quite exceptional. The hotel dinner is very high quality. Views are awesome. Leukerbad is famous for the millions of liters of 51 degree C springwater per day that feed numerous spa's and pools. they are all in walking distance as is the ski lift to main ski area.

Not a real negative but please realize that there is no pool or Spa or Gym at the hotel itself, The tickets included with the roomrate are for the Walliser Therme and the Torrent Skilift which are both about 200m from the hotel (not 50m like is suggested by some). So the Hotel is very central to both but it is a small walk.
