    Pros +

    • We stayed in apartments outside the castle but on castle grounds. We did not go to the castle restaurant. Enjoyed the beautiful countryside and a walk around inside the awesome castle. Would try to book the castle itself much earlier if we were to visit again.

    • Beautiful rooms, friendly staff, stunning grounds, and quiet

    Cons -

    • The bed was not very comfortable, but the room was very sufficient and quiet. There were 9 people in our party, so we needed 2 apartments, which unfortunately were not located next to each other, so that was not very convenient.
    • I loved everything
    • No A/C. Wifi not working in many rooms. View from window poor. Very isolated with almost no local transportation.

Staff, breakfast, location, all very good

Someone to carry luggage up stairs to room, no welcome or offer of umbrella from doorman.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Comfortable bed and good room. Excellent breakfast..

Stayed here 12 years ago and it was a great experience. Feel it's gotten too big and impersonal now.

My preference would be a buffet breakfast. As we were both just having fruit,.it was limited and and did not feel we could ask for.more.

Location, walks, gardens beautiful. Staff lovely. Very nice atmosphere.

Everything was amazing, from the minute we walked into the Castle, we were met with such a friendly atmosphere. We had lunch, dinner and breakfast the next morning in the hotel and even the toast was amazing!! Our room was very comfy, spacious and warm! I would highly recommend this hotel for all occasions! All staff were absolutely amazing, so friendly and helpful and all up for a chat!

There was nothing I didn’t like

Excellent location. Really peaceful. Lovely bedroom with very comfortable 4-poster. Good tea facilities. Bar menu is great and good value for money. The drawing room and bar are lovely spaces... Walled garden is a must-see - almost didn't....

The main restaurant menu doesn't really work value-wise for a vegetarian. The bar food is great but I ran out of choices on a 3-night stay. Some staff were extraordinarily helpful, others weren't really interested. Lights left on outside all night is a shame - dark skies are such a joy....

Castle Food and grounds were beautiful ?

Stayed in one of the houses on the estate. Not the same luxury as available in the castle. Also asked for an extra bed so we wouldn't have to share but this came at an additional charge of 50 euro!! Also breakfast was extra.

Efficient service, warm and welcoming staff. The reception staff were very chatty and engaging. The staff welcomed both members of the party to the accommodation. I was shown to the room by one of the receptionist. The staff throughout the establishment are an asset. We both had dinner on the night, high quality, excellent staff and great quality food. I will definitely be a return visitor.

Excellent breakfast and breakfast is my favourite meal of the day

Nothing - just to admire the staffs patience when dealing with some of the guests - we really could not believe how some of the guests who were so entitled and dismissive of staff and they still remained cheerful and polite - well done

The location is very special and scenic. The food is outstanding! We had some staff members go above and beyond. My only issue was our room had a very strong odor. It was a clean room but it was as if gas was leaking g from a pipe in the bathroom & the smell permeated the room even with the door closed. I asked them about it and the housekeeper sprayed air freshener, it made it smell worse. They did eventually move us and the room didn’t smell but we shouldn’t have been placed in the room to start with, it was a pain to repack. Everything else was outstanding!

The first room had a foul smell that was terrible.

Beautiful and luxuriously cosy. Really enjoyed the breakfast and the walk around the grounds. A fabulous retreat to get away from the aftermath of storm Eowyn.

Breakfast was beautiful & I did like the table service.

I was dissatisfied with my evening meal and We did feel that the service was quite poor.

Old world charm. 5 course dinner was excellent and great value. Room was spacious

At one point at pm 5 people were waiting to get a drink in the bar which was unattended . The room was advertised on booking.com as over 500 sq feet. It isnt

Overall good service, nice grounds and location for a chill night away with walks and a walled garden on grounds, nice breakfast serviced to order. Towels were lovely and fluffy. One of the bar staff was excellent, the rest were ok. The live piano music in the drawing room was lovely, good atmosphere.

We booked a deluxe king room. In the pictures on booking and on the hotels own website the room featured was quite a lavishly decorated room with a four poster bed. The room we were given was nice cosy room with a lake view, but was not as pictured which was a little disappointing - should have been explained or noted with other pics that some rooms don’t have that style. The hotel could probably do with some extra casual seating space. The bar and drawing room were totally full on the busy (valentines weekend) evening so if there was more space it would have been a little more comfortable.

The staff was welcoming and accommodating. The premises were enchanting. The walk around the grounds took you back in time. It was truly a relaxing experience. The food was exceptional.

This was a minor thing. The only low mark would be for the lumpy bed. The room was gorgeous, spacious and accommodating.

The originality in the decorations around the castle is exquisite, a great service and friendly staff, with stunning lands and gardens around the castle ending in the very shore of the lake.

Air conditioner/heating machine fan was loud, room was slightly cold but the room was big as well.
