About
In the heart of the Wicklow Mountains National Park, the Glendalough Hotel has views of the ruined Glendalough Cathedral. The hotel offers rooms with private bathrooms, a restaurant and pub. As the Glendalough is located in a valley, most of the rooms have charming countryside and mountain views. All rooms have a work desk, hairdryer and iron. The Glendassan River Restaurant serves local and international cuisine created using fresh, local ingredients. The Glendalough Tavern aims to create a friendly, Irish pub atmosphere and serves bar food. There is also a lounge with an open fire in winter. The National Park is known for its walking trails and climbing routes and there are 6 golf courses within 9 miles of the hotel. The Glendalough Hotel is just 28 miles from Waterford and a 35-minute drive from the seashore.

Pros +
- It was very cold in the hot. The food was cold and presented very poorly on the plate. Some of our food never even came out. The breakfast was less than basic. No fruit, bread was stale, milk was not fresh.
- Location was incredible, friendly staff, great vibe, excellent food, great value for money
- The rooms were lovely and warm and the food was good
Cons -
- Staff were very friendly and chatty. Management needs to be seriously looked at. Hotel would be closed down along time ago only for its location.
- The breakfast was very basic
- The room was a bit drafty, and there was no shampoo or conditioner. But the beautiful location outweighed the little inconveniences.

The location was absolutely perfect. Great for those who want to spend some time hiking and enjoying nature. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help and make my stay comfortable. The restaurant on site was also wonderful.

Location for hiking was perfect
The bar was very disappointing and the restaurant was average at best.
View was lovely, rooms were toasty warm in the middle of winter
Room wasn't very clean, bunch of black hairs on floor and in sink from previous customers
The location and scenery was beautiful
It was very quiet, not open until 12.30 no Irish staff and it should be thriving for where it it is.
The friendliness of the staff and the place. I was made very welcome. Lovely hotel recently renovated (still being renovated). Food was lovely and room was lovely and clean.
The owner walking around checking everything. Even though this is good it’s a bit too much!
Parking included in price (although price/service is way too much for what you get); kettle and tea/coffee in the room. Shower (over head only) was nice and warm (at least that, thankfully). The staff are lovely and accommodating - I could bring my dinner to the room and eat in peace (with a jacket on - the room was cold).
The hotel is old and smells - the old smell is one thing, but the smell in the room (cleaning agent? Air freshener?) was sickening. The rooms are freezing cold and not well cleaned. The heating seemed to be working only on the corridors - both the room and the breakfast area were freezing so I spent my evening in bed and ate breakfast in my winter jacket. Bonus - you do not need the fridge - my banana froze on the windowsill at night. The breakfast itself is very poor - with the bacon looking like it was steamed rather than fried… I was not at all impressed considering the price I paid. There was no view and the hotel is not directly at the lake either.
Location in glenadalough is beautiful

We were given a breakfast time of 9.45am. When we went down to breakfast there was none!!!
Waited 7 mins at an empty reception desk to be checked in. Had to go looking for a staff member twice to check us in. Staff drinking at the bar
Location
Heating, few staff not speaking great English
The staff where fantastic and very accommodating too. Even organised a lift to and from Laragh for us. We felt very safe and lots of fun
Great location
Our room was not that clean and the general feel of the hotel was tired and in need of a refresh
We had an excellent virw of the mountain and river; Bed very comfortable and a great power shower. Casey"s bar is very homely. Food choice while limited but what we has was good. A good stay for a 3 star and right in Glendalough national park. Will be back again.
No shower/body wash in the shower, only hand wash. Other than that, everything as expected for a 3 star.
We loved everything about our stay, room was lovely & warm & came with a bath. It was a most welcome way to relax after a day walking in the mountains. We had a most enjoyable meal accompanied by a great bottle of malbec recommended by Fabio ! He was exceptional ,a lovely warm pleasant & efficient waiter who made our stay really memorable & enjoyable
Really happy with everything.
Wonderful location
Since we came with my husband , we didn't like the bed which was made of two connected single beds . It caused a lot of discomfort for a couple
Fantastic place, in the middle of Wicklow mountains. Perfect start point for hikes, walks, cycling!
Breakfast was great. Location great too.
I asked for the room to be romanticised and I was told it would be at no extra cost. When I arrived I was expecting my woman to be amazed only to see the experience didnt materialise. The room was plain Jane.
