About

Located in the seaside town of Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer, Les Terrasses du Bailli is an art-deco hotel only 656 feet from the beach. It offers contemporary guest rooms and a outdoor swimming pool, which is heated according to season. Each air-conditioned guest room at Les Terrasses Du Bailli features either a balcony or a terrace. All rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV, a courtesy tray for making tea and coffee. A buffet breakfast is provided every morning and can be served on the terrace beside the swimming pool. A bar is also available on site and meal trays can be prepared upon request. Guests can also enjoy the spa facilities upon reservation at The Domaine du Bailli. With free outdoor parking and underground private parking at an extra cost, the hotel is 16 mi south of Saint Tropez. Toulon-Hyères Airport is 17 mi away. The 3-star hotel brings together a superb villa from the 1930s, dating from the origins of the village of Rayol-Canadel, and a new adjacent building. The establishment is renovated in 2023 by the architect François Champsaur who restores its original character to the Terrasses du Bailli.

    Pros +

    • The local beach was a short walk away and so beautiful; lovely sandy beach and quiet bay. Easy driving distance to Saint Tropez. Great breakfast, parking and swimming pool. Charming room
    • Great location, great staff and nice facilities
    • I have stayed here before, and the rooms are nice and clean and comfortable. Staff is very helpful and one young woman remembered me from last year.I can't remember his name, but the French man that checked us in was extremely helpful.

    Cons -

    • A bit hit and miss about advice of where to eat/options of dinner or lunch in evening. May have been a mismatch between expectations/language barrier.
    • If you're not a light packer, like myself, there are some rooms with good views upstairs, but no elevator. Although, the man that checked us in was a huge help with the luggage. There are also rooms on the ground level that have nice terraces and easy to get to.
    • Only negative which made the facilities unbearable was the air conditioning in room 626 was very poor and couldn’t keep the room cold, so room was always too hot and could not sleep as a result.

Room was laid out with thought usb near bed etc), the view was terrific. Its close to a fantastic restaurant and the beach, cycle lanes etc. loved the nature noise at night.

On check in I was told that there was really not a restaurant on-site (not a ‘proper one’) and suggested I eat elsewhere. There was a great place nearby but maybe not 3 nights in a row. Turns out there is a restaurant on-site after all. Breakfast stuff was pretty much gone by 9.30 so get up early if you want to eat!

The relaxed atmosphere. Wonderful views. Lovely breakfast. Youy

What we didn't like was that we were unable to stay longer.

    9AndrewPosted on: 9-10-2024

Breakfast was very good, the location and views were superb, though walking to the nearest (two super restaurants) involved a short but arduous steep hill.

No flat surface in the room – not even a chair. Plus attention to detail not always great (e.g., liquid soap dispenser was never reinstalled after we asked).

Excellent location close to the beach, amazing sea views, comfortable beds and pillows, breakfast exceeded our expectations, we highly recommend the hotel.

Nothing, extremely happy with our stay.

The location, the breakfast, the pool and the cycleway/footpath adjacent to the hotel.

The utterly inadequate air conditioning which was on a default setting and couldn’t be controlled via the room thermostat. It was absolutely roasting in our room and the staff couldn’t be bothered to fix the issue or even offer us a fan when we asked four times.

Beautiful hotel, low-key and relaxed. Very nice staff and fantastic position overlooking the bay. Take mosquito spray!

    7SophiePosted on: 8-26-2024

The hotel is small but perfectly formed. The pool is gorgeous, although not a pool for doing much actual swimming in due to its size, it is more for cooling off / relaxing. Beautiful views over the bay and just a 10 min walk to the beach. Not suitable getting to the beach with mobility / breathing issues. There’s a lot of steps to go down / go up on return. We didn’t have a car, and we managed absolutely fine: there is a small supermarket, bakery & pharmacy in the village which you can walk to. The sister hotel had two restaurants we used, plus there’s another on the beach, plus the snacking menu did us fine for a picky dinner on the balcony.

Although we could reach the mentioned above places on foot, they were rather expensive with small menus. So, if you have a car you’ll have more choice. Getting taxis was hard! There is a bus in the village but we never used it. The worst part about our whole trip was the wasps. There were so many of them. We ended up eating breakfast inside and even left one of our meals early. Unfortunately staff don’t do anything about them other than bring out burning coffee on your request. We understand they’re part of nature and to be expected, but it would be nice to see the hotels and restaurants trying to put things in place to get rid of them before people come down to eat, rather than waiting for people to ask. We probably wouldn’t return due them being so bad ?. I am sure they’re not all year though, so hopefully we were just unlucky.

It was the worse hotel I have ever stayed in my life! It was totally misrepresented by the hotel's website where they claimed that they did renovations in 2023, it was a total lie- hotel looks like motel, very depressing, run down and not worth the money at all. Stuff is very rude, very defensive when I expressed my concerns, breakfast room is like in the cheap airport lounge. Stuff in the breakfast room was walking with grim faces, slamming the doors, i did not notice even one smile or being polite. Overall just a horrible experience. Unfortunately I paid in full otherwise would have left for another hotel right away. The hotel experience ruined my vacation.

The accommodation and communal areas (like the pool) were lovely and the staff were very friendly.

The price was quite high, but reflective of the are.

View from room was Spectacular. We had room with "large" terasse on 1st floor. Breakfast considering size of hotel was OK for me.

At nigt it gets a little too boaring (Some people enjoy it). If you want to got to paid beach (walking distance) you may have trouble securing Sunbeds especially on weekends.

Breakfast delicious. Loved the fresh yogurt/fruit/cheese/salami, wonderful local honey with lavender. Lady in charge of breakfast very friendly and told me about the honey farm. All staff very friendly and helpful. Room fantastic and great view. I think would be helpful to make a little clearer what amenities are available in the larger hotel, ie can reserve sunbeds on private part of beach but there is a charge. A wonderful hotel and about a 3 min walk to lovely beach where you can snorkel and see fish. Great swimming beach and well maintained.

Nothing but would recommend car to get around local area.

    Nothing. Everything was excellent

Breakfast was fantastic, the staff were very friendly and the overall area was very tranquil and relaxing.

There was some loud drilling going on in the garages below our room when we first arrived. I imagine it was scheduled when they expected most visitors to be away from the hotel, it just happened to be when we were taking an afternoon nap!

    9MctiguePosted on: 6-24-2024

Great location with a view of the sea from our room, a short walk up to a boulangerie & small marche and a short walk down to the beach. As the “little sister” to Le Bailli du Suffren you also get cheaper rates for beds down at the beach (albeit there is a public beach there too).Bed was comfortable, room was a good size & the pool was nice for a dip / to lay by. Parking is relatively easy & the rooms were nice enough (not luxury but all appear to have a great outdoor space).

The little fridge in our room didn’t work but they were nice enough to hold stuff for us in the kitchen fridge.

    9MartinPosted on: 6-2-2024

lovely room, great terrace to sit on and snack. The staff were excellent and friendly. A lovely hotel.

The fridge didn’t keep things cool.
