Pros +
- We stayed at Schlosshotel Horneck for one night and arrived relatively late.Check-in was done online, and we received a code for a safe with clear instructions to get the key, which worked smoothly. The staff were friendly and smiling, which added to the positive experience. The hotel is very beautiful from the outside and inside and has a historic feel, and the room was extremely large and very clean. Breakfast was excellent.Since this is a castle, we expected a more immersive historic interior design, but the rooms were mostly white with modern lighting and design, which was a bit disappointing. Parking was also somewhat limited, and the access road is quite narrow.Overall, despite the small disappointments, it is a very good and unique place to stay.
- Easy self check in, large room with high ceilings and fresh air. Nice place to wander around in the evening through the town. Great traditional tavern food nearby.
- overall very nice accomodation with ample room, bicycle storage and a wonderful brreakfast.

The castle sits on the hill with nice views. Very private and quiet. Walking distance to good restaurants. Staff is super attentive. I mentioned that my husband 's birthday would be the following day while checking in. We were pleasantly surprised when we got two improvised birthday cakes with birthday wishes during our breakfast in the morning from another staff member who was not even there at the checking in! Breakfast was very good. They have a couple of coolers with drinks and wine if you get thirsty later. Rooms are super clean. Convenient parking right by the hotel. All together, it was an excellent stay.
Great location, great rooms, lovely breakfast great staff
No problems at all
The property is sophisticated, comfortable, well maintained, and quiet. It is located within and above the local town, but it is also very quiet and secure. It also includes secure parking in the dry castle moat. However, you can drop your bags off at the entrance to the castle which also includes an elevator. The reception and restaurant staff were very courteous and efficient. The room itself was very spacious, clean and included a panoramic view of the surrounding river, valley and hills. The breakfast buffet included an amazing selection of savoury and sweet offerings. This is an exceptional property.
Nothing - all perfect.
Nice breakfast. Confortable room and nice area
Absolutely stunning. Amazing room, lovely views, incredible experience staying in such a unique place. Beautiful room terrace which was enjoyed, and a very good breakfast in the morning.
Room was a little hot at night (no aircon, and couldn’t open windows due to bat season!)There was a fan provided.
The views over the Neckar valley were phenomenal! The castle is high on top of a hill and it was beautiful to watch the sun set over the river and the wildlife (birds and bats) come out at dusk. The room was very spacious with high ceilings (and very large bathroom), and the chairs and bed were very comfortable -- made us feel like kings! Also the breakfast was the best we had in Germany -- fresh fruit smoothies, homemade jam, eggs made to taste, a build your own muesli station and a lot of other choices beyond the usual brötchen and cold cuts.
The location is very beautiful, with proximity to even more stunning views around, small cities to visit or do a hiking straight out of the hotel across the vineyards. The room was clean and freshly re-modelled, with espresso machine and very generous space. The breakfast was hearty, with ample choice and good taste of the food. Parking is super easy near by, and the check-in / check-out procedures were cared with high independence and self-service. I truly enjoyed also a high trust from hotel side to the tourists, by offering cold drinks for fair price by self-service and a lovely terrace around the corner where to sit and enjoy that glass of wine or beer.
I've missed AC in the room, I think for this price range even some mobile AC unit would be great to have. Also, there is no place open to dine in the hotel (albeit they do have physical restaurant) and the nearest restaurants in the village needs to be booked timely. I kind of got confused whenever this about hospitality or room-on-budged type of approach, in the sense that hotel could do and offer much for tourists, yet they seems like optimizing their costs down to a bare minimum, instead of focusing on growing the service offering and earning more..
The location is great as it is near the town center but not too close to have a lot of noise from tourism. The breakfast is good with plenty of choice. The woman who we assume is the owner is very helpful, anything you want to know or need she can help you with or provide. Waking up to the view of the mountain is just as you want it to be; amazing.
Noise from the hallway seeps into the room, such that sleeping in might be difficult if other people start making a lot of noise on the hallways. For us, this was not a big problem but it might be noteworthy.
Prior information, parking, and check-in all smooth. Beautiful quiet location. Large well equipped room with super comfortable large beds. Our room had an amazing view. Everything was spotlessly clean. Wide range of fresh breakfast items. Friendly staff. We loved staying here!
Nothing. It was all great.
This was a stunning castle to stay at, the room was enormous and it overlooked the river, ? recommended..amazing breakfast as well, staff went above & beyond ♥️?????????
Nothing at all, everything I could want in a castle stay ♥️
Very hot. Fan was provided and did the job.
Nice hotel in a historic setting. The hotel tried to keep the old elements while all the modern comfort is present as well. I asked a room adapted to disabled persons and a second room close to the first one and both requests were taken into account. The view from the room was great as well, looking over the vinyards and the Neckar.Really nice breakfast with a large choice in the morning.
Really can't think of anything.
Beautifull location, real castle, perfect breakfest, nice, cosy village; clean, big rooms. Generally - you could feel soul of old times :). Very easy self check in, perfect and reasonable priced bar (also for self use), perfect vews from terrace. Close to catsle munivipal very nice pool, few good reataurants. Everybyear we are going throubEurope to different locations, butvobviously this place will stay innour minds for long time. Hope to visit you again ;)
Generally, everything were ok
- Breakfast was ok. Not too many options but diverse enough and good quality.- Room was very quiet.- Room was clean.- Location is great.- Staff are very friendly.
- The room was a bit too warm on both nights and with no A/C there isn't much you can do about it.- Most staff didn't speak English which made communication a bit hard.- The duvet cover was single for a double bed.- Room wasn't made the second day but it may have been due to a mix up with my stay.
Fantastic location. Recently modernised/rebuilt castle or monastery?. Very good value. An Unusual Experience! (good!)Rooms were updated Monastic cells I imagine. Super high ceilings, well appointed and immaculateGood local restaurants within walking distance...easier on the way down!Fantastic views.
Hard to improve, but parking in the former moat might be a challenge to nervous drivers...
Beautiful hotel! Large rooms - gorgeous bathrooms and very clean. Breakfast was excellent!
So special to stay in such a building at a very reasonable price. Close to the Neckartal Radweg and secure garage for the bikesGreat breakfast Lovely terrace overlooking the valley with a well priced minibar at reception.
Nothing. It was a perfect ubernachtung
