Location, lovely ski lodge vibe, delicious food (dinner and extensive breakfast buffet).
Location, play room and tennis table
Value for the money.Room not ready at check in hour. No elevator.
My daughter needed to borrow a plug adapter because the “universal” adapter that she purchased did not work. The front desk staff said that the hotel’s adapter was not at the desk. When we explained that we had an urgent need due to a student visa issue. She called the hotel down the street and made arrangements for us to use their plug adapter and wi-fi. We greatly appreciated her extra efforts to help my daughter.
The breakfast was okay but not as good as some of the other hotel breakfasts we have had here in Norway
Comfortable room, friendly staff, nice restaurant
Our room was at the end of the hall so the WiFi was very spotty
We booked a couple of rooms to sleep in. We got exactly that. But the place is far from pretty or clean. The restaurant was good.
The hallways were absolutely filthy. I could see what looked like multiple generations of spills and stains on the ancient carpets. The rooms were a tiny bit cleaner, but still, there were dust bunnies and wrappers under the extended couch. The couch, by the way, was extremely uncomfortable. The beds were better, so you'd probably be fine if there's only two people per room. The sound proofing is barely there. We were woken up by noisy guests at midnight, then again (I hope a different group) at 4am. Doors slamming as if they were in our own room, shoes trampling as if they were invading us.The staff were bored to death and made that so obvious. It really doesn't take much to smile or at least use a tone that doesn't scream "I was doing nothing and you rudely interrupted me."
The location was close to the center.
- Not enough parking space in front of the hotel.- No fans available, incase you need one and the place gets a bit warm during the day in July.- I asked for tea and was told they have none and few minutes later another member of staff was topping up tea bags in the jar.- average breakfast spread.- overall very average service.
The breakfast buffet was a disaster area.So I only went once. Not enough parking spaces.
Just that we had a place to sleep for the night toilets were clean.
It was dark. The carpets were dirty. Made you wonder if the sheets were clean. The staff there was extremely rude. I had interactions with two staff at the reception. Both were rude and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. As an Indian it felt like they did not want me there. It started with me asking them if we had access to cafe latte during the breakfast and I got short responses “we don’t offer that here”. We booked two rooms. My parents room didn’t have a shower cubicle. We were too tired after a long journey to address it that evening. My dad showered in my room. We informed them about it the day of checkout. And the response we got was “Oh we are know there’s no cubicle there”. I was extremely annoyed. Will definitely NOT visit again and would NOT recommend
The hotel was welcoming and the receptionist offered us an upgrade with a view for $15 more. It was a nice view. Room was comfortable, clean and a good size. The hotel was within walking distance of restaurants and shops. Breakfast was included and was quite good. It was a nice stay for one night.
No elevator, which we could manage but taking luggage up stairs isn't fun.
Historic well maintained hotel surrounded by beautiful nature. We had a very enjoyable stay at Geilo Hotel. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the train station. Check-in and check-out were smooth and hassle free. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were warm and welcoming. A special mention to Maria in the reception, who treated us exceptionally well. she was truly lovely and made our stay even more pleasant. I especially appreciated the cozy atmosphere and the delicious breakfast each morning. I would definitely come back again!
Goof hotel with parking across the road. Polite and helpful reception staff. The room was very comfortable.
Kitchen closed quite early in the evening, so felt rushed. Got fed, but felt a bit of a nuisance.
Lovely location for scenic walks and conveniently very close to Geilo stasjon. Spacious, comfortable room ensuite with a sofa and a mountain view as requested. Quiet. Sockets for charging. Excellent breakfast was much appreciated. Friendly, helpful staff. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.
Set three course menu for the evening meal on the Sunday, instead of à la carte. [Although understand the reason for this].
The property was very convenient to walk to from the train station. It had a nice old-timey vibe and was cozy.
it didn't bother us, but there was no elevator at this hotel.
Free car park in front of the hotel. Good size of the room. Nice breakfast.
Heating was off in the bedroom (but ok in the bathroom). Curtains not dark enough.
Very comfy beds, great location and restaurant was excellent. Three types of smoked salmon excellent. Huge pizza too and moose burger. Great views of ski slopes lit up at night and still running in April.
No lifts hard when you have heavy cases to carry to fourth floor. No tea or coffee facilities in the rooms; basic tv only.
Quaint hotel but lacking atmosphere. Good location with ski bus stopping right outside. Staff not very friendly/helpful. Feels a bit tired!
Nice location as it's very close to the train station & the city centre. In addition, we were able to walk back to the hotel when we missed the last free shuttle bus from Vestlia ski slope. Surprisingly, the view was breathtaking as we walked by the terrain and river before entering the city. It was worth the walk.
Having coffee & tea, including kettle in the hotel room would be a great help.
