    Pros +

    • We stayed in a very large room, and it was surprising to find four more beds in separate small rooms. However, the bathroom and especially the toilet, were quite small and a bit worn out
    • Lovely quiet setting
    • Cool vintage lodging. Great food and clean comfy beds

    Cons -

    • The breakfast buffet was a bit meagre. Not much choice.
    • Not walking distance to any sites or shopping
    • Tired rooms, poor state of decorative order. Bathroom horrible, shower broken, grotty carpet, broken plug sockets, dirty coffee machine, lumpy pillows and a mirror covered in white paint! This was a superior room. We had a family emergency and had to leave before the second night, the hotel refused to compensate. To be honest it was a relief to have an excuse to leave. Shame on you, Logis Hotels, invest some money in to this lovely building.

The location set within mature trees was very lovely and the outside space is also very welcoming, with options for sitting in the shade or sun. The hotel has a certain charm. We chose this because it was en-route to Orange. We made the most of the local scenic roads to the south-west and took a mini tour to Mount Brouilly and various cols to the west for the panoramic views. The pool was available for our stay, because of the good weather, which was a nice surprise, even though we didn't have time to use it.

The dinner was a little disappointing for the price. Choice of wines excellent. My entrecôte was tough even though I asked for it to be 'a point' but the veloute was really lovely - a mixed success.

We had an overnight stay Chateau de La Barge on route to the Alpes. It was close to the motorway, so an excellent location in that respect. The staff were very friendly, our rooms were very comfortable, the evening meal very tasty and the wine was fantastic, so much so that we bought a selection to take home with us!

Conveniently situated close to the motorway. Characterful building

Decor could do with cheering up

The bathroom was not really clean

It was fairly outdated. The breakfast was poor.

Evening meal in the restaurant was exceptional, food quality excellent, comfortable room, very comfortable bed

Lighting in the restaurant could be more atmospheric

    10IrenePosted on: 2-20-2025

Clean, lovely decor, comfortable, helpful staff, ample parking

Restaurant was closed as it was sunday, however the receptionist recommended an excellent place 5 mins away

Great hotel - lovely old building and a fun place to stay. Restaurant was very good and a treat at the end of a day travelling. Great value for money.

    All was good.

Close to the motorway, beautiful building. The food in the restaurant was delicious.

The staff were not very welcoming. They were a bit disinterested in general.

    8JudithPosted on: 12-6-2024

Everything was lovely. Comfy bed. Nice spacious room. Lovely dining area and very good food. All in all it was a very nice stop over for one night. Outside Macon but it suited us.

A stunning property. This place is something special. It’s very well presented with quirky decor, big rooms, lovely gardens and overall an old and interesting property. The beds were huge with wonderful sheets and lovely big soft towels. We ate in the restaurant where the food was excellent and very well priced. A great wine list too! Very convenient to the motorway and parking right outside. The staff were very welcoming and friendly.

    It was perfect!

The staff were very nice, the restaurant was wonderful and they accommodated us with ice buckets to enjoy our own wine on the patio. The grounds are expansive and pleasant for walking.

    8JoPosted on: 10-21-2024

The staff were pleasant and helpful, although we felt that more were needed during the evening, when there were arrivals and dinner service.Dinner was excellent and fairly priced, and breakfast was good.

The long wait in the dining room at dinner.Nobody knew where to find the buffet breakfast. The lift wasn’t working properly, although staff were happy to carry our luggage.Finishing work on the hotel would be a better idea than having all the art work displayed, and which seemed to jar with the elegance of the hotel.

    9MyraPosted on: 9-30-2024

We needed a comfy break from a long journey. The Chateau was just few minutes from the highway. We got a suite for the small family with pet dog. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast served.

The staff could be a bit friendlier.

    9RobertPosted on: 9-27-2024

Ontbijt was prima, het dinner was ook perfect

We misten een steun in de douche ,

    7GuillaumePosted on: 9-14-2024

Spacious room and good food at diner.

Room not clean with a lot of spider nests… same across the hotel. Staff not very professional and outdated deco.
