    • Would look for other options in the area
    • Beautiful room, extremely spacious bathroom! Loved the outdoor area. Peaceful and quiet, and if you want to hike through the National Park down to the various callanques (swim coves) as I did, this is a pretty great spot. I would also recommend walking to town one morning. It's about an hour walk, but really picturesque. Back up is harder ;)
    • Loved the outdoor terrace and that it backed onto the National Park

    Cons -

    • Super small room, doesn’t look like it shows on site. Lobby works 8am to 6pm. No refrigerator- neither in the room or any other facility. Very strange hotel
    • Location away from town meant driving to town that has very limited parking facilities, or walking down and having to get a taxi back from town each day
    • Very very Thin walls. Couldn’t sleep past 8/830 because by then it was too loud with doors opening and shutting and lots of talking. Also could hear that same noise at night. Sadly one night at midnight heard a lot of rowdy sex from the next room and was traveling with my 13 year old so that was terribly awkward and bad because you can’t mute that. Also can’t get room cleaned up if you don’t leave by 12 noon

Nice folks, they make their own yogurt! Beware of the check-in time. We almost missed it & I think we would have be

Beautiful location. Nicely decorated inside. Cassis area is gorgeous. It feels like a magical place. Highly recommend the terrace area

    It included parking.

Bathroom was tiny, no closets or even luggage rack to put your things.

Special place in a national park, convenient to calenques, helpful and informative staff, beautiful surroundings almost like "glamping." Proximity of rooms and casual, family-friendly environment made it impossible not to visit with neighbors and we had a great, spontaneous night laughing and drinking wine (later realized "parties" were against the rules, oops).

The place seemed fussy about rules and there were many -- bit of a walking on eggshells feeling. Mateu was friendly and helpful but the other host was grumpy and intimidating, stereotypically "French" lol (this may not be fair as we don't speak French so our communication was limited). Bathrooms could use an upgrade.

Les Volets Rouges is wonderful quiet hotel situated just 5 minutes away from the turmoil of Cassis. The rooms are very comfortable and spotless. The managers Sébastien and Matthieu are a delight, amazing hosts, very sociable and attentive to their guests needs. It was wonderful chatting with both of them! Breakfast was delicious, (especially the homemade yogurt) although some more proteins would have been nice, but that’s just a detail. We highly recommend Les Volets Rouges! And again a big thank you to Sébastien and Matthieu!

The hotel is beautifully and tastefully designed. The room was comfortable and cozy with a small outdoor area that compensated for its small size. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived super hungry, and the dinner offered at the hotel restaurant was delicious. They use locally sourced products. I can definitely recommend adding breakfast to your stay; it was worth it. The location is very good for people who want to hike in the national park.

If you don't arrive by car, Cassis is quite far on foot, and there is no public transportation to the hotel, which is located next to a highway. We didn't hear the road at night, so the soundproofing seems fine. Walking to Cassis takes about 2 hours via the national park.

    Rooms are very clean.

The rooms are too small and the host isn't very friendly.I asked if i could get a larger room and was willing to pay extra. But the answer was:'this is what you booked'.So it cut short the conversation ... The owner didn't try to look for some other options.

Lovely location. Ideal for a quiet stay and local walks. Informal, friendly atmosphere. Pleasant outdoor areas.

The room was small, not big enough for a longer stay. It's a little too far out of Cassis to walk into the centre.

Very clean with contemporary touches. Very well located if you will be hiking in Les Calanques.

The “small room” that we rented was not small, it was minuscule. There were no windows so the only air was from the air conditioner or from leaving the front door open. There was no space in the room for baggage (we had two small carry-on bags that we had a hard time to find space for. One had to be put in the tiny bathroom) or even for chairs to sit on when it was raining (we had a table and chairs outside). The shower was so small that we had to open the stall door to bend over to get the soap or shampoo that had to be kept outside of the shower as there was no space for it inside. I own a small camper van and find it more comfortable than the layout of this tiny room.

Nicely decorated bedrooms and the walk down the beach was great.

The room was tiny and for the cost per night and per pets it was not value for money. Especially with travelling around and going to different accommodations, where an apartment was cheaper than a really small room. Breakfast was also over priced

    7AdrianaPosted on: 9-16-2024

Location is unbeatable, right in the Calanque National Park, you can start alot of hikes directly from the back yard. Plenty of parking at the hotel.

The walls are paper thin, you can hear conversations from all other rooms around you. Rooms are also incredibly tiny, barely 10-12m2 incl the bathroom.

    9JuanPosted on: 8-31-2024

Super nice, calm location, fresh evening, but close enough to Cassis (8 minute drive). By the way you can walk to the Calanque d’En Vau from the gate, following an alternative path

No fridge in room, we wanted to keep some things cold for the walk the day after and that was a challenge

    8PenelopePosted on: 8-27-2024

Very beautiful surroundings, the hotel has been decorated in a modern and very comfortable way. The outside areas and dining terrace are beautiful. As it’s on a main road you may feel it could be noisy, but it’s not. The rooms are fully soundproofed, it’s quite quiet at night and it doesn’t seem loud in the outdoor areas at all. Lovely breakfast. Beds very comfortable.

Front desk at times a little bit more service friendly.

We liked the location on top of the moutnain in a peacefull area with good nature around.

The staff were very rude. I believe it was because we were not native french people. For example, when we asked if there was anything to do or see around the hotel, the reception simply said "no". Upon checking out on our last day, we noticed there is a hiking trail from the hotel leading to some very nice areas, reception did not bother interacting with us. On another occassion we asked if we can have napkins while having breakfast. Again the reception said "no" while I saw him give another french person napkins. Also wifi is basically non-existent.

    Location was great!

Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel in Cassis was not what we had hoped for. Despite the beautiful location, we were not warmly welcomed. At check-in, we were rudely dismissed for not having reserved dinner or breakfast, and we received no explanation about the facilities or the garden with access to the calanques. When we left and experienced car trouble, the staff offered no assistance or even a simple inquiry if they could help. The lack of hospitality and attentiveness made us feel very unwelcome. For future guests: the location is beautiful, but be prepared for less than welcoming service.

    8JuanPosted on: 8-6-2024

The location is amazing if you want to visit the calanques

The front desk is not 24 hours, and it is fine. However, if they want to close, they should have dispensing machines for drinks and snacks.

    Leaving

Over priced motel. Pictures not representative of the rooms we had. The entire property was old and tired. The rooms were also extremely noisy - situated right by a busy road. The staff took things out of our room whilst we were out. The bathroom door jammed shut so it could not be used all night. There was not even a word of apology for this.Hotel charged additional €52 fee over and above the booking.com fee saying we had to pay it because we came with our children.
