Pros +
- Beautiful Hotel located on a corner of a easy to locate street. The decor was French style with glam. Nice big rooms and clean bathrooms. The best caramels in the lobby!
- The room and hotel in general was very nice. The room was comfy and the attached restaurant was popular with the locals which is always a good sign. As for location, it is perfect for anyone wanting to visit D-Day sites. It's very close to St. Mere Eglise and Utah beach and about a half hour drive to Omaha beach, not to mention Carentan itself.
- The room was spacious and very clean . Lovely shower and bathroom .
Cons -
- Staff did not want to speak or try to understand our English language and did not engage any extra interaction with us (Check in & out). Poor Wifi connection.
- The only issue the group encountered was the drains in the shower/bath were very slow.
- Maintenance, WiFi, noiciness, facilities

Worst hotel ever
Incompetent staffDirty eg black mould around shower door, dirty shower head, generally everything very poor and scruffy
Really needs modernised. Drapes did not cover window and people walking past room could see through gap. Good location, friendly staff.
The hostel in Carentan is quite close (up to 50 km) to many of the relevant D-Day sights (Sainte-Mère-Église, Utah-Beach and also Arromanches-les-Bain, Omaha-Beach, Bayeux etc.). This was one of the main reasons for us to book here. Furthermore we loved the restaurant in the patio where we had lunch two times during our stay . This is highly recommendable. Furthermore the hostel has a free parking lot across the street.
The room was a bit too small from our perspective and what we missed was an air conditioner. As we visited in July our room was really warm - even during night time so that it was hard to get some sleep, although the beds were fine. I guess that in the future even the hotels and hostels in the north of France will need to rethink air conditioning during the summer months. As we checked out we also had three times breakfast on the bill although we had none - so we would recommend to check the final invoice when checking out.
The en-suite Room was Unique i.e never seen the like
The unhelpful staff and the very poor breakfast
An evening meal which was really very good with attentive waiter and good value for money
The reception and staff who were slow and were not interested e.g. the WiFi was not functioning but we were told that was the only one available when I discovered that there was a separate, working, "extension" Link available I was told that it "Didn't work". It didThe Breakfast was very poor: even the staff had difficulty with the Coffee machine and we had no drink. Very poor choice of food and no-one to help or to refill baskets. We pointed out to the Staff one morning that there was fresh dog poo at the entrance which at least one pedestrian had trodden in; nothing was done and it remained there when we departed,
Pleasant
Broken shower door, stained carpet, bed sheet with an iron burn on it.
The staff were pleasant and helpful and the evening meal was good value.
The room was on a split level with the bathroom and toilet up a very steep staircase. Some would find this difficult.
Fawlty towers, actually quite funny in hindsight. Booked and paid for 5 rooms , the manager decided to provide 2 rooms with 4 beds for 5 separate people in my group. Was offered a used room (with dirty towels) in another hotel. Managed polite chap but in his words "this is not my problem" .Fawlty towers enjoyed the comedy of it all.
Sleeping on the floor that is not normal.in a hotel
Nice location, pleasant Court yard, friendly and helpfull staff who were happy to store my bike in a side room.
The shower door didnt function as the fixings and wheels were corroded and i had to re-line them.Quite a few ants were in the room.
Good breakfast with plenty of choice Helpful staff
Our friends had tea and coffee making facilities in their room but we did not. There was no bath plug
Location good. Food good.
Staff no english and we little french.
Great location
15 Euros for 2x 3/4 pints of lager from from a blade beer machine ?
Bed was very comfortable. Room was cold, but there was a heater, which heated room quickly.
Reception did not speak English, even though Booking.com stated, that they do. I also didn't get an invoice or receipt. Room could be cleaner.
The room was a delight, with the bath (big) in the corner!! It had a double aspect and, while it could be a littlenoisy at busy times, at night it was quiet and well ventilated - which we like. The courtyard, restuarant etc. were delightful and the food was to die for!!!! We sincerely hope that we'll be coming back to this cosy hotel and charming town!
On arrival (having been travelling all day) it has to be said that the welcome was just a bit too 'business like', for our liking. Just a bit frosty! However as the 48 hours of our stay progressed we settled in and the staff showed how friendly they could be.
Hotel restaurant on the edge of the town, a short walk to the quay. We had room 1, which had disabled access directly onto the courtyard amongst the diners. We had booked very late, and for the price it was perfectly acceptable, other than the wifi didn’t reach. Breakfast was good and we elected to eat dinners on the quay but the restaurant did look tempting.
Staff were nice, very helpful.
Very tired looking. Really grubby skirting boards, carpets etc.
