    Pros +

    • Beautiful grounds, pool and it’s cozy breakfast room.
    • Beautiful hotel, amazing staff excellent breakfast. Beautiful view of Protea.
    • The staff were professional, friendly, and made us feel so welcome. Plenty of parking, beautiful beach room vibe, and the property itself is gorgeous. The free breakfast was fantastic—fresh, beautifully presented, with both indoor and outdoor seating and the sweetest team serving it. Highly recommend!

    Cons -

    • We had a car so we were easily able to drive for 5 min and park for free at the city center. The hotel is not walkable to the city center for those with no car.
    • We liked everything just have a few suggestions: since there is a lot walking a golf cart will be very helpful. The opening of the gate requests getting out of the car, not a very nice experience when it’s pouring.
    • While we enjoyed our stay overall, there are a few areas that could use improvement. The property is advertised as a 5-star resort, but the amenities and services felt more limited. There’s no valet, bellhop, concierge, or 24-hour reception, and the only bar is by the pool—which wasn’t open during our stay due to weather. Breakfast was wonderful, but there are no other on-site dining options, and outside food or drinks aren’t permitted in the rooms. It would also be helpful if the shuttle schedule and fees were communicated more clearly, as it stops mid-day for siesta and ends quite early. The rooms could use a bit of extra care and a deep clean—there was some mildew in the bathroom and minor maintenance issues like a loose ceiling lamp.

Modern, well kept, food quality and its location .

The bathroom in our room suffers from very poor design and access!

The property is absolutely beautiful and clean. The landscaping is gorgeous.

It’s a very beautiful and calm a boutique hotel that has a cozy feeling the staff is very helpful and very kind. The breakfast is spectacular, pastries, and fruit. The frittata are all freshly made.

Il Borghetto was a perfect choice for visiting Tropea. Only a few kilometers out of Tropea town (and a hotel shuttle can drop you in town and pick you up for a nominal charge, saving the need for a taxi - which are a rarity in Tropea) the hotel had beautiful grounds and a wonderful pool that was large and ultra clean. A small bar beside the pool could provide snacks and drinks, and there are plenty of umbrellas available to sit under. One of the best things about Il Borghetto is the staff, with Eleanore, Frederika, Manuel, Massimo and so many others making you really feel like part of the family. The hotel picked us up from the train station and dropped us off again when our stay was over. The fresh breakfast in the morning was something you looked forward to the day before . Tasty and homemade food was a delight. I would stay again without hesitation. We even arranged a massage at the hotel for my wife and I and Vera. the masseuse was an expert at her job! All in all a wonderful Tropean stay.

If I had to try and think of something I didn't like (which would be hard) it would be that the bathroom towels could do with being a higher quality.

We chose this hotel knowing it was a few minutes outside town but we liked the large rooms, nice pool and views, and easy parking. The pool was a big bonus after long hot days. The breakfast was also very good and the staff very friendly.

No laundry service was available which, for a resort at this level, is a big miss. There is also no on site restaurant, bar or room service. Fortunately, there is another hotel, a few minutes away, with a very nice restaurant, if one does not feel like driving into town.

We had the most amazing stay at Il Borghetto Resort & Spa this week and absolutely loved every moment of it! The property is truly stunning—beautifully maintained grounds that feel like a peaceful oasis. Our room was spacious, extremely comfortable, and tastefully designed for relaxation. The pool area is absolutely fascinating, complete with a great bar where we could unwind and enjoy the surroundings. And the breakfast? Simply the best we’ve had on our trip—fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented.Every detail at Il Borghetto made our stay memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort, beauty, and a touch of luxury. We can’t wait to come back!

Quality of food (breakfast), room design and cleanness, staff, location,

The fact that the hotel is run by the family owners, giver an extra touch of kindness and attention, specially at the kitchen

The breakfast spread was incredible, fresh fruit picked right from the property, homemade everything! The pool and snack bar during the day were wonderful. I really can’t recommend this little gem enough!

The rooms were small but they were extremely comfortable and thoughtfully prepared. I loved the bed and bedding. Especially after sleeping on many hard beds during my time in Italy. Also, a golf cart to get you and your luggage from reception to the rooms would be amazing!

Love the service from the minute we arrived. Love that it's a family owned resort. Manuel and the rest of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast area was so cute and everything was freshly made. I would definitely recommend this resort.

From the moment you enter the gates you are treated with impeccably well manicured gardens. With plenty of parking if traveling by car. Walk into reception and you are greeted by the most welcoming host, Manuel who is very eager to explain things about the hotel and things to do around Tropea. Our room was very clean, nicely furnished and had a balcony overlooking the immaculate kept pool area. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to swim in the pool. The relaxed outdoor area in the shaded garden is a perfect way to eat an excellent delicious buffet breakfast with a large selection of home made savory food, sweets and espresso coffee, Thank you to the friendly ladies who always served breakfast with a lovely smile on their face. Thank you Manuel and team, for the best experience in Calabria.See you again soon.

Unfortunately we had to leave this oasis.

Breakfast was great and staff was great.

I didnt like lots of staires, and also the room was to small. I had to carry my luggage up to staires, no elevator at all.

We had an amazing stay at Il Borghetto. The property is peaceful, beautiful and very well maintained. We had a room with a large balcony and sea view. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was AMAZING! There was an excellent variety of homemade bakery items as well sauteed and cured vegetables (my husband's absolute favorite). The hotel is an easy 5 minute drive into the historic center. We hope to go back to Tropea and stay at Il Borghetto. We would highly recommend this hotel.

    Absolutely nothing. Everything was wonderful!

    10AndrewPosted on: 10-29-2024

Unobtrusive staff, but attentive when needed. Breakfast outside with excellent range of food. Lovely grounds and pool.

Long walk to Tropea centre, but no footpaths beside roads. No onsite restaurant, but sister restaurant in Tropea was excellent.

    9JamellePosted on: 10-13-2024

    Beautiful view and grounds

Peculiar bath setup with shower in corner of bedroom and sink/toilette on opposite side of room.

    8KenPosted on: 10-9-2024

Breakfast very good. Homemade foods made fresh. The mix of foods was good albeit unusual for American tastes. Very Modern facility with beautiful grounds and pool. View is pretty good but far from the beach. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Went out of their way to make us comfortable.

Too much walking to get to the room. Too many steps and hills for elderly people or people with back pain or other orthopedic issues. No coffee service in the room. Minimal furnishings in the room.

The hotel area is beautifully designed, it's a joy to walk around it. We really enjoyed relaxing in the pool, the bar is a nice addition to it. I should also mention the breakfast — it's fresh and delicious! The staff is very kind and helpful. The location is good and close to Tropea, but I would highly recommend you to rent a scooter if you don't have a car.

One thing that bothered us is the lack of noise isolation. The neighbors didn't care that it was past 10, so we had to step up with earplugs.
