Hotel Terrazzo Sul Mare

Exceptional property. Location superb, quiet at night. Comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean. Room overlooking the sea with breathtaking views. Steps down to the beach. Breakfast was great; good variety of food to choose from. Breakfast on the terrace each morning was fantastic; calm and relaxing. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was serviced daily.

The location right on the sea and the size of the room

The breakfast was extremely poor with not much choice and questionable quality. The staff didn't look well prepared.

A steep walk downstairs to get to the beach. Pay €10 for two chairs under an umbrella. Beach was OK little hard to walk on and be careful. The little blue fish bite. breakfast was good. Room was older, but the views were good. If you go onto the balcony, your neighbours are right next to you with a low partition. So not very private.

The room was spacious, with 2 queen beds, two night stands, an armoire and a television. The view from the room terrace was breathtaking. The hotel also supplied a stand on the terrace to hang wet clothes and beach towels. The included breakfast had a great variety of foods to select from: pastries, lunch meat, eggs, breads/rolls, cheeses, fruit, yogurt, cereal, milk, coffee, tea, juices, and water. The dining terrace was abundantly large and provided a beach view while enjoying breakfast. The location relative to the beach was fantastic. The beach was within walking distance of the hotel, but be prepared to go down 180 stairs to reach street level from the hotel. The staff cleaned the rooms daily and were very flexible in working around our schedule. If we were still in the room when they came to clean, they just asked us when we would be leaving and came back at that time.When it was time to leave, our train departure was a few hours after the check out time, so we asked if we could check out a couple hours later and the staff was very accommodating to our request.

The air conditioning unit drain was on the room terrace and emptied into a little plastic bowl that very quickly filled with the discharged water from the unit and then overflowed onto the terrace floor. One evening the wind blew my beach towel onto the terrace floor and the overflowing water bowl drenched the towel during the night. Also, when the bowl became full the tube would sit in the water and cause an exhaust smell in the hotel room.Breakfast was from 7:30 until 10:30 am, and although the choices for breakfast were abundant, if you arrived at 9:00 am , the staff stopped restocking the things that had been totally consumed by previous guests. If you wanted something that had not been restocked you would have to find a staff member and request the item, and then wait for it to be brought out. If breakfast goes until 10:30, it should be fully stocked until at least 10:15 am.The bathroom was large in comparison to other hotels that I have stayed in Italy, however there was only a very flimsy towel stand that was not large enough for anything bigger than a couple of hand towels and tipped over when you placed your hand towel on it. There were three of us sharing the bathroom and there was nowhere to hang the bath towel while taking a shower and then there was no place to hang the wet towel after drying off.There was only one key to the room and the room door could not be locked from the inside without the key. One night I was not feeling well so I did not go out to town with my husband and son. In order to not wake me when they came back, they had to lock me in the room. If something had happened that required that I leave the room, I would not have been able to do so.There are reading lights right above each bed and right below the light is an outlet. The problem was that you had to keep the light on for the outlet to work. We ended up having to unscrew the bulb so we could sleep without a light while charging our phones overnight.

Towels looked and felt old and scratchy. Breakfast served on buffet tables very dated. Selection ok but limited.

hotel has a really great location with amazing views of the sea and sunsents, everything is in walking distance - beach and city center, nice staffwe were in this hotel for the third time and we will definitely come again

it has a private beach access (i believe one of the few if not the only in the region) the staff was very friendly and helpfulexcellent view of the beach from the room, and restaurantthe dinner was great, the fish was excellentbreakfast has everything you need to start the day

breakfast is a little basic, could be improvedthe worst part of our stay was that in the middle of the night the power in the whole building shuts off.the power outages seem random and the staff told us that is was because of the rain ( it happened when it didnt rain aswell)the worst part when the power is off is that an emergency light turns on in your room! (as seen in the picture below)normally this light turns off when the power is back on, the main problem is that in the middle of the night the reception staff is sleeping, so i have to go downstairs, wake them up and then they go and turn the power back on.during our 5 nights stay, on 4 nights this happened, even multiple times a night.i urge the staff and owners to fix this problem asap. or at least figure a way to not wake up guests and have them come down in the middle of the night.

We spent nice days at the hotel. Amazing view and very clean, well-maintained room. Spectecular sunset from the room balcony. The breakfast is not very varied, but fresh and suitable for starting the day. The location is excellent, calm environment and the city center is a 10-minute walk away. Private, direct stairs to the beach. Good or even the best choice in Tropea.

There was air conditioning in the room. The bedrooms had a nice view over the sea. He room was refreshed correctly.

Where to start? No internet in the room. We had to go down to reception to get internet. Even there it didn’t always work. But they don’t care. They have WiFi but no internet! (The technician is coming!) The reading light by the bed was broken.The breakfast is a joke! We were there 3 nights. The first morning we at least had fruit juice ( terrible) in plastic glasses. Nothing to eat except yogurt.They ran out of ham and cheese.The next 2 mornings there was no fruit juice and no ham or cheese. The final day there was no bread, no ham and cheese and no fruit juice. There was no fresh fruit every day. Awful.We avoided dinner because of the breakfast. You must order your dinner at breakfast. Maybe the chef is good?No fridge in the room. We had a superior double at 140 per night. No glasses to drink water in the room until we asked for them- No hand towel rails in the bathroom. Hang them somewhere, over the toilet?Nobody cares! The staff argue amongst themselves. There is no management.Do avoid this awful hotel.
