Hotel Sternen

Friendly and helpful proprietor found and held a lost belonging for us. Good chicken at the restaurant downstairs, and a nice greenhouse for breakfast.

Considerable traffic noise from the road out front. It quieted down overnight but we were awakened at 5 am by a parade of cows using the road to cross the river.

Very nice and helpful stuff. Basic, but cozy and clean room. Free parking. 2 steps from the lake. Perfect for a night rest.

Great location, comfy beds, clean bathroom.

No staff on site (were not aware of this at time of booking - made aware a week before). Was like booking a self serviced apartment, but with a hotel price tag

As a cycle tourist, I look for calm and quiet places and often use the facilities only to have dinner, sleep and leave early the next day.The facility has a good location, I only used it as a refreshment point and to sleep one night.The room was clean, but soap and shower gel were missing.I ate fried chicken directly in the hotel restaurant and it was good, but the dining room smelled like fried.Also in the evening, a very strong smell of fried food comes out of the kitchen which is located right under the stairs that lead to the rooms. I had a room on the second floor and I slept with the window wide open, but the smell did not go away.Unfortunately, they do not have a place to store bikes, the owner was very kind and let me store the bike on a service terrace, sadly that night there was a sudden very strong storm and part of the bike-packing got wet.

I am very sorry, but I think that the hotel is lacking in terms of comfort. The room was clean and the food was quite good, but the fact that the extractor hood doesn't work is unacceptable for a hotel with a kitchen inside.Also, 10ml of shower gel in the bathroom does not cost much, they could leave it in the bathroom.

Staying 4 people in an apartment on the top floor, with 3 separate bedrooms, 7 beds and with magnificent view to lake Lucern. Responsible family of the hotel was very much appreciated.

Completely unacceptable

We had a one-night booking for two persons in the Hotel Sternen, in Sisikon Switzerland. We were already in the area on bicycles. In the previous day, continues red alerts were issued, a huge storm flooded all the villages in the area, the bridges collapsed, the road were closed, the trains stopped, people died or lost their homes, the Swiss army was out to help. We were trapped with our bicycles amidst this disaster and we could not reach Sisikon in no way.We informed the hotel Sternen by phone and message, and asked for a refund of or booking fee but they replied negatively. Since our non-show was not our fault, but an official national red alert, we regard it as mandatory that we receive back our money, or at least a part of it. It is really unacceptable to treat visitors like that!We are waiting for your actions.Best regardsIrene Efremidis

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and water pressure in the shower was good. The breakfast is good and plentiful. No hot food, but a good variety of croissants, breads, cheese, ham, orange juice and coffee. Also, the family that owns this hotel is very warm and friendly. I think they are doing their best. And Sisikon is a good place for doing the hike to the William Tell Chapel.

The hotel is located right on the main road through town, and traffic is non-stop, so the noise is pretty bad. Also, I was there in late July, and so it is very hot. The hotel does not have AC and there are no fans in the room. Leaving the windows open cools the room down quickly at night, but then the noise from the traffic is pretty loud. Also, no mini-fridge or coffee-making equipment in the room. Please also be aware that although the view of the lake and the mountains from the Sisikon lakeshore is spectacular, there is one restaurant (apart from the restaurants attached to the 2 hotels), 0 stores, 0 pharmacies, 0 cafes, and 0 bars. The one restaurant (pizza and Greek food) is great, though. And Brunnen, which has everything, is literally a 5-minute train ride away.

No interaction with staff, saw them only at check in. No aircon room on second floor si v warm. Traffic noise from 04:00 with window open. No breakfast or staff in the morning.

The family that operate the hotel were very warm and welcoming. The room was attractive and comfortable. The attached restaurant was quite good. The village is in a stunning location…very small and peaceful. Nice hikes across the street. A modest and inviting place.

The proximity to the road made for some road noise. Breakfast was very good, but a little late for our preferred schedule.

It's a wonderful family hotel. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They helped us with everything we asked. The room was not big for two people, but still old-fashionably pleasant and mostly clean.

Easy to find but parking unclear, ended up having to move the car after checking in. Not enough car park spaces once restaurant is open. Room was OK with comfortable bed and lovely smelling bedding. No bedside tables due to location of bed, positioned between two walls. Shower on the small side but plenty of hot water and towels.Cannot comment on breakfast as at 15CHF each we decided to find a cheaper option and eat elsewhere.

The smell of hot oil and fried chicken was very strong once the restaurant was open, however, our room on the top floor did not smell. Overall, compared to the other ten hotels we stayed at this visit, this was very expensive, considering it's just a room, no food. Sadly we would not stay here again.

It is right on a busy road, so if you're a light sleeper, take some ear plugs.

Hotel is very basic. No A/C or fan, very hot room.Bathroom very small, hard to sit on toilet as basin in way.Lock on door very hard to lock. Outside door didnt work at night, fortunately restuarant still open.Appreciate hotel is cheap (for Switzerland) but the sort of place you'd expect to pay £30 in a uk coastal resort.

See above. I tried to book somewhere else but the wifi was crap too.Very noisy road made sleeping difficult with open window. Room clearly been used by smokers such was the odour.
