    Pros +

    • Cabins are much beter than I expected with plenty of room for my feet (I'm 6'4")
    • The rate for my stay was the best news considering I couldn't find any other cheaper hotels in New York.
    • it's location was ideal. but sadly it failed to meet my expectations. breakfast was very expensive as was the room/bed.

    Cons -

    • A/c barely blew, no towels provided, had to make your own bed, beds were made of plywood and a Vinyl mattress, no tv, no microwave, no coffee, no anything except a bathroom, shower and bed.
    • Cabins have absolutely no natural or ambient light which takes some getting used to but the complete lack of circulation (and no air conditioning) makes them a bit uncomfortable.
    • Yes, the location!!! I really didn't want to leave Manhattan since it's where I do all my business.

I like that it was close to the metro station, friendly staff, and was able to use kitchen space

    Check out was very early

It’s only 4 min by foot to the subway, the pumpkin soup I had at their onsite restaurant was superb.

The hallways are dimmed and dark, I imagine a brothel being like that. The decor of the creepy guys in the bathroom was distasteful. The bathroom shower in the female side of the first floor were all clogged - all of them. I reported them and that evening the hair has been removed but at least the one I used was still clogged, which suggested a deeper plumbing issue. There is at least a sink that floods too. The toilet seats were constantly dirty, with old pee stick to them. I strayed in a cabin, thinking it may be cool, and to enjoy some privacy. I was wrong. I’m not claustrophobic, but if you are, cabins are not for you. The cabin has a wide mattress, like a full size, it’s all black vinyl (like if porn was shoot there). The twin sheet/ twin duvet cannot be hold to the sides and tucked in like in a regular bunk or bed, that means you will most likely end up sleeping on top of the bare vinyl: disgusting. If you have a checked bag (not my case) you will not be able to open it inside the cabin, the hallway will be your option here. The door lock cannot be turn from the outside before closing the door, meaning you have to slam it and that feel extremely uncomfortable for the others near you, because I felt it when others did, but there is no way to avoid it. I do not like the vibe of the hallways, bathrooms, and cabins at all. The common area in the 7th floor has a toaster, 2 fridges (very big, that a plus), kettle and 2 microwave. You cannot cook in here! In the reception there is a sign that says: “you cannot bring food from the outside”…but they have two fridges to store food ?‍♀️ The bar and restaurant are nice.Needless to say that I’m not staying in any other Jo&Joe ever again and I will not recommend it to anyone.

    Organised and clean

Nothing major, but maybe hanger inside lockers ? The lockers are pretty big and we dont have hangers in the entire room so this could be it

When I arrive to the room it looks so comfortable and cozy. The location is very good, just a few walks and there's the train station and there's a bus stop as well. The cleanliness of the room was perfect. And the windows reslly holds the noise from outside which was really nice. And also the programs/ events they have is really fun.

One thing was a bit uncomfortable was the door of the bathroom and toilet.

Few minutes away from a RER tran station (Gentilly). The building is big and new. The reception staff was helpful when needed.

I booked two beds for me and a friend. When we went to the room there was only one bed available, we had to bring all our staff back to reception and then go to another room. Problem solved but a bit annoying after a long day of traveling. Anyways, we could notice that the housekeeping team doesn't do a great job. We had the same trash can full of trash for all the nights that we stayed there (3 nights). I hoped for them to notice and do the job but that didn't happen. It says a lot about how 'well' they do.

Staff is amazing ! Atmosphere is inviting and cabin rooms are a great and privacy sensitive option for hostels. I’m a repeat guest and will be again!

Would be nice to separate gender bathrooms/showers more although privacy is adequate.

Bed, toilet & bath for a small price. Calm & convenient.

    8AnelPosted on: 9-17-2025

the cabin rooms are spacious, clean bedsheets, lockers available before check-in for 4€, the common area is very modern and stylish

the (un)cleanliness of shared bathrooms (especially showers) kinda makes you want to gag, also food is quiet pricey for average quality

Clean hostel. Close to the subway to get anywhere in Paris. Stayed with 2 children and it was good for us in a private 4 bunk with a private bathroom. We only stayed one night. May only be suitable for families for a couple nights. But overall pleasant stay with friendly staff!

    10JCPosted on: 8-16-2025

Very cozy, and every decoration is well-designed.

a bit far from the downtown, although the metro system is quite convenient.

    8Megan-JadePosted on: 7-23-2025

We loved the vibe, it was fun and easily accessible. Nice bar and outside area to hang out and meet people if you're traveling alone. Helpful staff and nice location for anyone wanting to explore Paris.

It was a heat wave and the air-conditioning in our room did not work, but the staff did let use a fan which was nice. Very basic beds and bathrooms, but pretty much what you can expect at a hostel.

The installations are pretty good! The hostel is beautiful and the cabin I stayed was a perfect way of giving privacy still in a hostel environment

The vibe was off. Even though there are social events people were not at all inclined to mingle. A lot of group trips and older people. The hostel promotes no integration and the staff wasn’t even receptive. I felt as if I was staying in a hotel. This may not be a bad thing, but warning the solo travelers that, like me, expect to stay in a hostel to make friends. Also it is very hard to make contact with them, I had to send multiple texts via instagram (which should not be the mean of communication for guests) to be answered when I needed something from them

Varieties of options for entertainment and friendly environment

Reception was not friendly and helpful. Lift was slow and not functioning as we had to carry our checked in Luggage all the way by stairs

    10UgochukwuPosted on: 6-28-2025

The little piracy and the liveliness of the environment

The bathroom was always in a mess plus no mob on sight to keep it clean by oneself

    10DMITRIIPosted on: 6-9-2025

It exactly matches the description. Good value for money. I lost my card that opens the room and it was given to me 2d time without any fees. Also free water at the bar is great.

Nothing particularly. Maybe I’m a bit too tall for the bed

    8JamesPosted on: 5-20-2025

I loved how close the hotel was to the metro station. It was quiet at night because it’s not in the center of Paris. The staff was also friendly!

I think the air conditioning didn’t work that well in the room - I never brought it up to the staff.
