Grand Hotel Royal E Golf

Staff was absolutely great everywhere. Reception, bar, restaurant... Super kind, attentive with us and out 2 years old.Food was incredible. Both bar and restaurant had extremely good food for lunch and dinner and the breakfast had a very wide choice of tasty options.The position is perfect, right in the middle of the main street, but still easy to move around.

I've read in other reviews and I can confirm that, while the rooms are kind of soundproof between themselves, you can totally hear the noise of the water flowing in the walls when someone in an upper floor makes the shower or uses the sink. Maybe it's a specific of the room I had but it's there.Also the rooms would benefit from a refreshing in term of style.

Location, location, location. Prestigious building and glamorous entrance, reception but above all the lounge bar, bistro and dining room with great views of the mountains. The staff were the epitome of why we love Italy - it’s people.

Just a few things that support a good 4 star but not a 5 star

Breakfast was exceptional. Porter so helpful and the navette super fast. We had dinner at the restaurant one night. Food was great and we ordered a great Nebbiolo from Langhe Vietti at 70 euros!! Bar is cosy and staff very friendly. Beds are great. Room had little balcony. And used the spa on Sunday. Very nice!

It is a bit pricy, but for us two it was a good deal!

Location

Needs modernisation- card keys, decor, plug sockets, spa Expected support with ski passes as other 4* hotels in the area do. Paid extra for a smaller room only to be told reason it was deluxe was the view of Mont Blanc Bar prices ridiculously expensive compared to other hotels in resort.

Central Location, beautiful lounge and exceptional breakfast! The outdoors pool for a winter swim was an extra luxury.

The fact that their shuttle service is only to one ski lift. We were at a different ski lift which is only minutes away and they refused to pick us up. We explained to them that we only use that lift and they insisted on not picking us up although we had seen all the other hotel shuttles pick up from the same place. So we had to arrange our own transportation which made no sense. On a single instance we had asked the hotel to prebook us a taxi and when the time came - they couldn't book it and said "just this time we will make an exception to drop you" felt so awkward like they were doing us a favor. That said, the gentleman who drove us and was always by the reception seemed to be the best trained at customer service. He was attentive and always had a smile and ready to help. I would not say the same about most of the other reception staff who would not make eye contact, or while on the phone put up a finger signalling us to wait to pick up our keys. At one instance the older gentleman who drove us saw us standing there and felt he had to intervene and went in to call another receptionist. I must add the bar/lounge Argentinian staff were all amazing and made our every visit to the bar a joy!

While the location was great and the rooms were nice there were a ton of bugs in the room.

The hotel room was very warm. Staff stated that opening a window would cool things down but there were then a ton of bugs that came into the room. Staff were unresponsive in helping get rid of the bugs. There were also barking dogs that were very loud.

The shower screen in 115 was a very poor fit and leaks all over the bathroom floor.

Great location, lovely old style.

The gym wasn’t very good, no cleaning stuff for before or after using the equipment (only hand anti bac). The outdoor pool was lovely! Annoyingly my adapter would only work in one plus socket in the bathroom, which charged incredibly slowly. The other plug sockets are the very old style and non of my adapters work with the old sockets. That was irritating. The night manager who greeted me was lovely, really friendly and helpful. I found the staff behind the front desk during the day not as friendly - it was very quiet and whenever I walked past, they didn’t usually look up and say hello which I found a bit uncomfortable, especially as I was on my own. Excellent breakfast, very good - I did feel a little like I was being chased out as it shut at 10.30 so I ate between 10-10.30 the only one there at that time and I felt (maybe understandably) that they wanted me gone asap, no checking for more tea, etc.

The BREAKFAST was truly surprisingly superb.

The spa experience was not what we were hoping for. Lots of paperwork and an odd configuration.

Overpriced fancy hotel with no air conditioning. Not even in the tiny gym. Breakfast is ok for 3 stars hotel. The spa is minimal.

central location, very comfortable bed, nice staff (albeit sometimes too many staff around and it felt awkward sometimes being stared at).

Breakfast was nice but could be a little clearer on the options that are available as well as the buffet. ie getting scrambled eggs.

Excellent service, great food, great bar. Luxurious space in public space and room. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Nice pool in garden setting. Full spa facilities

Luxury comes at a cost

Wonderful hotel with great facilities. The breakfast was fantastic, the location right in the old part of the town was great. We loved the bar and also the outdoor pool.
