Pros +
- Great view and silance.
- Good communication from the owners after I made the booking. We both loved the tranquility of the place. As a sponsor of one of the rescued bears they arranged for us to help put the food out for our sponsor bear Max and then watch as he searched for his food.
- Nice invironment clean rooms and good shower. Very helpful and good English speaking cartaker. Thank you, Harry.
Cons -
- No air conditioning in the room, it was a bit hot. And the dirty windows in the kitchen didn't allow to enjoy the great view.
- The last 7 km to the lodge are not the best road quality wise, I would recommend hiring a jeep style vehicle as they sit higher from the road than a car. We hired a 4x4 but we never needed to engage the 4 wheel drive.
- There was no swimming pool as told on booking .com. The road to the hotel is extremely bad, almost impossible to on a rental car. The ranger's are extremely lazy, and they were not willing to guide us around. We are going there for hiking, and without them, it isn't allowed. So it was a very disappointing trip. Even at the bears no-one wanted to give as a tour. To make it short, stay away. it's not worth the trip going there.

The view around the EcoLodge is fantastic. The lodge premises are all clean especially the bathroom. Beds are comfortable. Very accommodating and friedly staff.
The lodge is located in somehow remote area but it is safe overall.
the place of peace and tranquillity. beautiful nature around and a lot of stars at night. It’s a perfect place if you want to get away from the city and people and rest in the middle of nowhere! I was very surprised when I found out that it is a bear rescue centre! Also the jeep tour to the mountains is a must do! amazing staff, I didn’t have a car but they were so kind to take me to the town to the grocery store.
stunning location, comfortable beds, incredibly good food. and a true noble cause. they use the proceeds from tourisme for their WildLife Refuge. for the kids the swimming pool was a big plus. do go on a hike with a ranger.
Loved the place, definitely worth visiting. We found it by accident and never regretted. If you love being in the wilderness far away from civilization, but don't want to sacrifice comfort, this would be a great option. Besides the location itself, hospitable staff and managers, nice food from local products, you will be surprised by the rescued animals (bears and birds) they foster there and the mission of the place. Keep it up, guys! Good luck in all you're doing for the nature!
Perfect location, quiet, good facilities.Able to see the bears in the adjacent rehabilitation centre from the veranda, Lammergeier passed overhead.
The location
The room we booked online was not the room we get (this one was already sold to someone else). When we complaint on arrival, they even tried to negociate a hire price (for a lower category room) saying that booking.com was offering a wrong price.Terrible management in general, and the meals we requested and pre-booked were not delivered (we had to do the groceries ourselves as the price they wanted to charge was insane + we requested vegetarian and had no option for them, until we complaint and discussed for hours + quantity of food for the extremely high price they requested.
How lucky to be able to witness this truly dedicated group, harvesting seed endemic to the area, propagating and re-planting, rescuing bears and where possible, releasing them into their natural habitats. generally improving / saving the environment whilst sharing this journey with visitors & volunteers. The this is great; they buy produce locally, employ local people and pay them very fairly. There is accomodation to suit all budgets and desires, from bunks, to private bedroom with en-suite, to your own luxurious house / lodge, or yurt. The location was amazing, I felt at one with Armenia. I went horse riding into the mountains with Mount Ararat in the back ground in its awesome surroundings, I felt so privileged to be guided in this very special place and to see such plants & wildlife. The staff were really friendly and helpful The food was soooo good, authentic Armenian, freshly made by local, lovely ladies, using local ingredients.
There could have been information online and on-site to highlight the amazing job they are doing and how one can contribute, not only as a paying guest but as a volunteer too. I didn't know about the bear sanctuary until arriving, all be it an fabulous surprise! I think I would have had a longer stay if I realised how much there was to explore.
Nature, dogs, horses, bears..
The accommodation is guarded by park rangers, and is located on a beautiful plateau overlooking the river valley. View is just stunning, and the interior of the dacha is modern, with 4 separate rooms and a spacious kitchen and dining area.
Bring your own food-there is none provided at the accommodation. However, if you're staying there for long, it totally makes sense to cook in the kitchen - it's got all the utensils you may need.
A quiet, beautiful location in the mountains where they rehabilitate bears and birds of prey. A nice, bright common room where you can meet other people.
Both the website and Booking clearly state that you can order 3 meals a day. When we got there we were told that they never cook for guests. Which isn't good news when the nearest shop is 7 kms back on a very bad road. The roof was leaking badly, so 1/3 of the common room was wetIt's not very clean. They don't accept credit cards, contrary to what is stated on Booking.com.
The scenery is beautiful, and the dogs are lovely
the road on the way in is the worse road in the world, and everything a the lodge was very unorganized at the time. And the rooms were so basic, with no shower.
Superb location, lodge with airco, hot shower, washing machine and dryer and so much nature! By staying here you help the wildlife recover
Gate was closed upon arrival, as it was off season no breakfast was possible. Helpful Armenian staff who called the manager who could speak English
Loved everything about the stay here and especially learning about the amazing work the foundation is doing to protect Armenian wildlife. It’s an apt location for a getaway and the facilities for travellers are super convenient. Our amazing host showed us around and also shed light on the work that goes into protecting the indigenous animals. It’s a silent retreat in the mountains and a must for anyone looking for serenity.
difficult to express in words. I could spend weeks there. Great Nature, Great Staff. many many thanks for everything
