    Pros +

    • Right on the Duoro River, beautiful grounds, away from noise, yet still short drive to city activities. It was a perfect retreat with plenty of opportunities to sit and enjoy just being here, looking out at the river. The spa was an added element of relaxation!
    • Nice location away from Porto craziness.
    • The beautiful setting!!! Understated elegant. Great restraunts. The fabulous boat ride up the Douro river.

    Cons -

    • Our bathroom (shower) was a little old. Tiles were broken. Please change.
    • Lack of light in the bathroom. Need better lighting, brighter. Lounge chairs by pool are tired. The landscape by pond near pool needs attention. Wait staff great. Spa staff a little stiff.
    • For a 5-star hotel- I felt like the service was lackluster. We informed them it was our honeymoon, and nothing was done to make it special. Other properties we stayed at during our trip did something small but special- a note, a glass of wine, even an upgrade. The breakfast was also mediocre. My wife wanted hot scrambled eggs and was told they don’t do that because it’s on the buffet- the buffet eggs were cold and runny.

The property itself is nice. It was very quiet, which I enjoyed. The service from Paola was great.

The grounds, view, interior of hotel, our room

Hard to get to- location. Limited menu in the evening. Inconsistent morning coffee ( staff training )

    1st class in every way

The same songs on a loop for 4 days is crazy. Breakfast, pool time, bar, dinner and all over the property the same set of songs over and over again.

Everything was wonderful! Exceptional rooms, comfortable bed, high quality amenities, beautiful view, amazing food, great spa. Personnel was exceptionally attentive and professional

I booked four massages, and in my personal taste and experiences, those were not the best treatments I’ve received in terms of the technique performed, so I received two, and then I cancelled two. Though I believe this point can be very subjective.

This was a spectacularly beautiful hotel and property. We feel very lucky to have found this place and to stay away from the busyness of Porto. Just a relaxing haven to come back to. Rooms were spacious and well appointed. We were in the historic house with river view.... and the gorgeous garden. The staff was exceptional! The food at breakfast and for dinner was delicious with loads of choices. I will recommend to anyone i know who is coming to Porto/Gaia area! THanks so so much for an excellent stay!

    Nothing! Perfect stay!

I absolutely loved everything about my stay—from the cleanliness of the room to the attention to detail, the delicious food, the friendly and attentive staff, and the excellent facilities. I originally booked the Petit Room, but they kindly upgraded me to a better one, and it was perfect! The view was stunning, and the bed was incredibly spacious and comfortable. The spa was also fantastic, offering a truly relaxing experience. Plus, the hotel provides free parking, which was a great bonus. Highly recommend!

    Nothing to add

    Location

Liliana, the receptionist totally lacked customer service and understanding for the fact that we had no interest in stayin in this hotel whilst the wild fires was burning around porto and the fact we could not be outside nor in our room which stank of hazadous smoke. Initially she refused to talk about compensation and only untill i pushed her she would talk to the management who eventually gave us a voucher for one night. However I will question the five stars this hotel has as when unforeseen tragic events happens there is absolutely no service untill you as a customer push hard and do not except the initial rejection. Pleaae remember vinha hotel no business is better than the weakest link in the organisation and you certainly need to change your customer service attitude - and company culture!

Beautiful riverside hotel, with great ammenities and very attentious staff. Pool area with river views is perfect to soak up the sun, if the weather is not helping you can always enjoy a nice complementary spa with pool, sauna and jacuzzi. The river taxi to the city is a great complement that gives you a unique way to get into the city.

The property has a lovely view,Nice grounds. Well kept. Pool is very nice. Restaurants very good,Although only one was open for our stay.

Getting to the property is confusing and you really don’t want to leave the grounds. They offer a shuttle, via boat, to Porto, but you have to get back on your own.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Always willing to seek solutions to any issues raised. The hotel grounds were nice, and the walking paths were nice.

The food variety could be improved. The rooms seemed not to cool once all room lights were switched off. The bath was difficult to get into (too high), and the handheld shower was awkwardly placed. Would have liked an iron in the room.

Everything... it was a wonderful experience and very exclusiveThe water taxi was a special treat

Getting back from Porto... none of the taxis knew the hotel

Reception was a bit cramped and intimidating with so many staff The complimentary room water was a little inadequate only two bottles per day Hotel is popular for weddings so can get busy with celebrations
