    Pros +

    • The cleanliness and the people. Outstanding!
    • It was like an oasis in the city. I felt very safe in this location. The police station is right next door. Comfortable beds and sheets. It was easy to get to old town from here, about a 10 minute walk to the metro which takes you directly across the river.
    • The room was big and clean, the swimming pool was great, breakfast was very good.

    Cons -

    • The only negative was that the sauna and hot tub weren¿t working but everything else was amazing!
    • I just felt that charging 18 EUR for the parking was excessive for the type of hotel and room rates one already pays
    • I only wish the outdoor pool had been open during our stay. Otherwise, everything was excellent.

Very good breakfast, with very diverse spread of options. I stayed with my parents and they truly enjoyed it also. Rooms are modern and comfortable. The pool setting is pretty next to the old manor house and a quiet place to relax or read a book. The hotel is just a short drive away from the riverside of Gaia.

Excellent breakfast, wonderful, attentive staff to assist with special orders. Loved the gym, pool and facilities. All the hotel staff were warm, friendly and very helpful.

I only wish the outdoor pool had been open during our stay. Otherwise, everything was excellent.

The Hotel is situated in an old private park in Vila de Gaia, a bit off from the center but accessible within a 20 minute walk from the Douro or by bus. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful, especially when I became sick and needed a bit of help during meals - which were always great, with a high quality buffet or dinner courses. We stayed over New Year's and attended the five course dinner and can really recommend the Bodeiras restaurant. The service was impeccable. The Hotel is very beautiful as well as the rooms, which are well isolated and climatized. The beds are very comfortable. The Spa staff was very kind and professional and the massage i got was great.

The pool and sauna were nice but frequented by many families, so it was very loud and not relaxing at all.

Top location, clean and modern rooms

Portugal is the land of coffeelovers....why serve coffe from the dispencer machines. Prefer real espresso ?

In principle all. Breakfast, Room, Bar, Lobby, Garage ... I had no time to use the WiFi, so I don´t know. I liked very much the garage with the broad parking places and easy entry - something you don´t find always in Hotels.

To mention something .. the barrier on our day of arrival didn´t work well and we had to go back to the Hotel 2 times until we could move the car. Surely a temporary topic.

Facilities are brilliant, staff are brilliant, breakfast is the best I have had in any hotel - highly recommend

Only the food at the bar - very limited and gets tedious after a while. Other than that it’s brilliant

Excellent Service. The complimentary wine tasting and the adega was a pleasant surprise! Having a pool is great.

The walls inside the room are a bit dirty (scratched marks, dirt). The pool area is quite nice but not very very clean.

Breakfast was excellent. Staff was very professional. Because I used Booking.com, I was told I would not earn Hilton points.

With a 10 min walk to metro, it was a bit far from Porto main attractions and restaurants. A taxi to hotel would be 10-12 euros each way. No courtesy shuttle offered.

From arrival staff were exceptionally helpful, professional & friendly. Hotel building and facilities a very high standard.

Everything was good, very nice staff, we had some problems, but was fixed immediately. Very friendly staff

The restaurant area/snack I think could have been more cosy.Minor detail (we need som hooks in the entrence to to room)

Loved the facilities & location !Wonderful breakfast!!!Staff very helpful !!! Port tasting on the grounds!!! You can catch the Hop on hop off tour bus right out the street entrance to the right 1/ 2 block !!!Outdoor pool closed because of smoke, believe the indoor pool was open! Great advantage of staying south of the river from Porto..., so much easier to get around !!!

    Location, aesthetic, entertainment possibilities.

Food (lunch) made in the hotel by its own kitchen/restaurant gave me a horrible food poisoning.

Nice hotel, decent and clean rooms

Checkout.Short notice booking due to an urgent need to return to the UK due to serious family ilness. Booking was room only - we are asked at checkin if we want breakfast the next morning. And here comes the upsell - 20 euros per person now, or 25 euros per person the next day. So we say yes to the 20 Euros now. Next morning, we really are not in the mood for breakfast, but we would like a late checkout due to when we have been able to book our flight.Late checkout - no charge up until midday (2pm would have been ideal for us). Go beyond midday - and it's either 60 or 90 euros (I can't remember which) up until 6pm. Scrap that idea at that price - we'll just check out now.Except now - they want to charge us for the breakfast we have told them much earlier in the day that we had not had - but at no point had anyone said to us (while the restaurant was still open) that if we didn't have breakfast, we would still have to pay for it.The receptionist was insistent that we had to pay - so I asked for the manager - who did eventually agree to waive the charge. My review that the hotel requested after my stay reflected this story - and the management reply was that this was their policy and is what I had agreed to (tho had anyone for one moment told me at the time of agreeing to it, that I was expected to pay regardless of whether we had breakfast or not, I would not have agreed to it - and there is no way I was going to read an A4 page of terms and conditions over something as simple as having breakfast or not) and that it seems that they thought they had been generous by not charging me for something we did not have. The bottom line for us is that this ridiculous exchange ruined the entire experience of the hotel at a time when we really did not need the hassle - and I would never go back as I simply do not trust them.
