- Location is great. Common room was very convenient.Nice shower
- Loved the location, staff, and uniqueness of the room and property. Easy parking was great too!
- This place is great, super close to Old Town, you can basically walk everywhere from there. Eight minutes from Train Station too. The furthest place i had to walk to was the Topler Castle, 30 minutes away, which is still pretty close, and a lovely walk. The room was fine, modern, clean. There is a common kitchen on the ground level with a large dining table, first class. Staff is very nice and polite. When I visit again, I hope to stay here. Highly recommend it.
Cons -
- Shower leaked bad Huge mess
- It’s impossible to do anything in the bath area without disturbing the other person in the room.
- The only recommendation would be an optional curtain that could be pulled for bathroom privacy and some brighter lighting. Tough to do my makeup in the dark space.

The Stairs! I was on the 3rd floor, so 4 sections of stairs to carry 2 pieces of luggage. But not so bad, as you only need to go up with luggage once! This is not a deal breaker for me, just inconvinient.
We loved the location, and after a long drive, being able to access the honor bar was a nice way to relax. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would love to come back for another visit.
We liked everything about our visit (except that we arrived on a Sunday, and many places were closed).
Clean and modern. Great location and parking
No elevator. Bathroom and sink configuration odd and lacks privacy.
Beautiful, modern hotel with excellent service. Our train from Berlin was delayed, thereby making us late to our rental car booking in Bamberg after-hours. We were stranded there until we figured out alternative travel to Rothenburg. We ended up arriving very late to the hotel and the staff were very accommodating. Beautiful, modern furnishings with very comfortable beds. We had 2 rooms next to each other. Our teenage kids weren't crazy about the open, see-through shower door in their room, but ours was enclosed. Location is excellent right outside the town gate.
Nothing, it was great!
The room was very nicely setup. Although the outside of the building is "old" looking, the inside is very modern and functional. The breakfast was very good and primarily the staff was exceptional.
Nothing really
Very clean and modern design. Massive shower was nice. Only steps away from the city wall and the historic part of town. Also enjoyed the complimentary cafe amenities and made myself an espresso in the morning. Would stay here again no question. Staff was pleasant and easy to converse with in English.
Had the air conditioning set at 18 degrees but never felt that cool.
Excellent front desk, great location, plenty parking
No elevator, which isnt great when your an international traveler with large baggage
We did not realize this was a Michelin Star Hotel AND Restaurant! We loved our room at the Alter Ego. There was a common kitchen area with a fun farm table and supplies to make snacks or even a meal if you wanted! We entertained some family for a birthday celebration with appetizers and champagne. The owner [Christian Mittermeiers] and main chef for the restaurant made sure the staff had a bucket with ice for the champagne! Christian also gave us a recommendation for lunch at another Michelin Star restaurant near Fussen which was fantastic. I highly recommend this hotel and order the breakfast as it was spectacular. The location is just outside the walled City perfect to take in all the beauty Rothenburg has to offer. Maria at check in was equally wonderful.
The staff was very friendly, and the location is amazing—right next to the old city, which made it easy to explore.
However, the room was quite small, and having the bathroom and toilet right next to the bed with no doors was definitely a downside. It didn’t feel very private or comfortable because of that.
Nice location. Close to the wall. Comfortable bed. Coffee is good in lobby.
The floor wasn’t vacuumed well prior to our stay. We noticed lots of particles, etc., on the floor. Because of its strange design, it was difficult to wash your hands and face in the sink. The large glass door that is used to close off the shower and toilet is difficult to move. Check in was weird since there’s no hotel personnel at the actual hotel. We had to “talk” to someone on a strange 2-way speaker device by the front door of the hotel building and they told us to walk 2 buildings over to check-in. We didn’t like how the check in clerk glowingly described the room on the walk over to the hotel and referenced the amazing view and how it was his favorite in the whole hotel but when we entered the room it was small, hot and not cleaned well with no closet or chairs and the view was best described as roofs of houses nearby and their backyard. Room was also described as being on the first floor but in actuality was on the second.
Great location just outside the old city walls. The room was clean and modern. Breakfast was very nice with a good variety of food. Parking was ample beside the hotel.
There are a lot of stairs but we managed ?
excellent breakfast with some local products and special dishes. Staff very polite and helpful. Superb location.
Not enough parking space, lighting in room.
The hotel is located 1 min walk from one the main gates to the old town. The room was very modern and stylish, beds were comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Excellent staff and it’s a boutique style hotel which we loved. The breakfast was excellent and had a home prepared vibe! Beautiful property.
Great location, parking, and super modern and clean.
The shower is glass and open to the bedroom. It was fine for us but you need to be very comfortable with who you are traveling with.
First and above all, there is the reception team (Lady Andrea, Lady Itzel, Mr. Denis, Lady Vera, and Lady Anna). Besides the beautiful facility (building and room-wise) and amazing location, this extraordinary professional team was so attentive, welcoming, cheerful with the best positive energy. From the communication before our arrival, throughout our stay and the unfortunately goodbye, the team was there for us. The location of the hotel is 7min beautiful walk from the Christmas Matket (right in the center) with an attached car park. The hotel is very modern and peaceful attached to the first and main Mittermeiers hotel. The hotel Restaurant serves outstanding dinner with an incredible group of individuals that facilitate the Resturant. Its the first time i saw that every dish comes with a brief acknowledgment of a staff member. The Restaurant
There's NOTHING to dislike
An excellent hotel in a great location. Rooms were comfortable with everything you needed for a good stay and the bed and pillows were fantastic. The honour kitchen was great, well stocked and very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the owner even offered to take a group photo at the end of our stay. Location was close to the old town without being in the hustle and bustle of the crowd which made it much easier accessing by car and free on-site parking was very much appreciated. We cannot rate this hotel highly enough, it was excellent!.
Our group of 4 cannot think of anything we didn't like.
