    Pros +

    • Most of attractive places in Otaru can be reached in walking distance, the room is very clean and cozy. But there're no staff here , the check-in/out process run by Kiosk.
    • The location was great, handy to the shopping arcade. Great value for money if you are alone or a younger couple on a budget and just want somewhere inexpensive to stay. Downstairs communal room good to have another space to go to.
    • No staff simple no fuss hotel. If the weather would have been better we would have used the bikes. Close to a funky little restaurant area.

    Cons -

    • Tiny place with absolutely no room to store bags for 4 people. Tiny bathroom, no personal space. Bunk beds work for children but not for an older senior lady. The ladder to climb up to the bunk beds was chunky and hard to climb up and down. Felt a bit dangerous, you kept hitting your head. Dark and pokey room with window which looked out at a concrete wall. Felt very claustrophobic. Wifi sketchy!
    • The room wall was dirty. Only 1 card for a room( 2 people ). Any person can go up to the elevator. Feel not too safe.
    • No staff, no service, no facilities, no amenities, no food options nearby.

Everything was clean and in good order. The room was nice, location was great, and check-in was easy. Thanks kindly to the staff that answered my question on the phone when I called. I would stay again!

The room size was very large, we were here in the winter and didnt have e-bikes in the entryway which worked very well for us to repack our ski gear before going home. Incredible shower too!

More hanging hooks in the entryway would be nice but no complaints

    5ClarissaPosted on: 1-16-2025

It was a large room for a good price.

There was no staff to help when I lost my keys card. Just a phone number to call that didn't work for my phone. I ended up flagging down another person staying at the hotel who was able to call the number. I was waiting in the lobby for over an hour.

Early check in, one hour beforeNear the canal

No staff onsite but just a machine to check in and out.Entrance /lobby areas look neglected.

    8AnnaPosted on: 11-21-2024

Its spacious and not so expensive

Just a suggestion I prefer to have their microwave ovens clean daily

It’s close enough to the train station.

There are no staff on site and they do not reply to any of my messages on booking.com. I tried calling them using the number provided with the phone next to the coffee machine and received zero response. There is a check in/out machine that accepts only two forms of payment: IC card or cash so an international credit card does not work. They do not offered luggage service on site and I tried going to the sister restaurant that they mentioned in their messages to store my luggage, just to find a closed curry restaurant next to their other location. This place is between a hostel and a business hotel where it does not provide any services at all.

Rooms were well equipped. Location was great.

Self-check in with no staff on the premises. Walls are paoer-thin and the carpet in the room could do with a clean.

    There was no breakfast.

We walked 30 minutes from the ferry to the Green Otaru and were told we had to wlak five blocks away to the famGreen Otaru and there was no onsen bath there, we would have to wlak back five blocks to the mainn greenOtaru hotel to take an onsen bath. It was after 10pm, we had been traveling for two days, we decoded not to walk the five blockis to the main hotel,, a major disappoint, we will not use you again and will say as much to friends.

Provision of free coffee, body sponge

The hotel didn’t reply to my messages sent via booking.com. Lack of English in the signage .

The building was newly renovated and appeared elegant from outside. The view from our room on the 6th floor was beautiful at night ... the lights along the inland sea, stunning. There was a Lawson's right downstairs so it was easy to get refreshments as needed. The TV's location to the bed made for pleasurable watching. Being able to leave our luggage at The Green 3 blocks away was appreciated. A trip to Otaru is worth dining at Darou's Soup Curry, across the street from The Green.

Though newly renovated, the entrance and hallway leading to the elevator were very dirty/stained. When I saw the bedding and cans brought down in the elevator I understood why: the 90 liter bag filled with not-so-empty coffee/beer/or soda cans hadn't beeb knotted which allowed the amalgamated juice to run onto the floor of the hallway and lobby. The woman removing the bag of cans didn't think it her responsibility to mop up the leakage and it looks like this has gone on for quite some time. As for the rooms themselves, only a slab of sheet rock separates them, so you hear everything going on in the abutting rooms. We had a very loud snorer one of our nights. Clothes must be hung on hangers on the wall (no closet) so when the other neighbor got up to dress at 6:00 am, the scrape of the metal hangers on the wall as clothes were retrieved was so loud and close, we feared someone was in our room. The mattresses were hard/ungiving and when the maid shorted us a hand towel, there was no one around to remedy that. The self check-in was lengthy, the stress of which only the owner could resolve ... drawbacks of self check-in.

Big and spacious room that was out of my expectation.

Self check in and check out via machine. There is no staff around the lobby.

    6KaterynaPosted on: 7-8-2024

    Big room. Location.

Walls are very thin. You will hear absolutely everything what's happening in other rooms. I couldn't sleep because my neighbors were talking all night and then snoring. Carpet is very dirty.

After checking out we could leave our bags at their sister hotel nearby for a few hours before our return trip to Sapporo
