Pros +
- Great service, compared with smaller , more remote hotels in Otaru (like one in Asarigawa onsen)whose staff quickly claim that she cannot speak English over the phone. The vibe is good, where a long table in the in-house cafe is there for socializing. The food is decent (slightly more expensive than local Izakayas)…and generic. The soups are the most delicious and comforting among the dishes.
- The location is lovely, right next to the canal and close to several restaurants. The rooms were larger than expected. The breakfast was great. We had requested parking and this was very close to the hotel.
- Location, friendly staff, breakfast buffet, and wonderful onsen
Cons -
- The AC is hot during the winter nite.
- No complaints.
- It is not allowed to drop bags or send people down in front of the hotel because the hotel allows tourist tour buses to park in the way. There is no place to drop the hotel. You have to drag the luggage from the parking lot to the hotel. In case of snow or black ice, it makes it easy to slip and fall. It is recommended that the bus should not be parked in front of the hotel for a long time. If you walk for a long time, you should go to the bus again. For the convenience of other customers, not just Group tour

Location, friendly staff, breakfast buffet, and wonderful onsen
The access was easy. The staff was polite, helpful and spoke both Japanese and English well. The room was quite comfortable and clean. Breakfast buffer was good but would be better if there were bit more variety of desserts.
Bed was comfortable and great location. View from room was beautiful.
I like the convenience of accommodation, staff, location to travel to various tourist attractions, convenient and fast.

Location was ideal for shopping and eating. Breakfast was satisfactory. I guess whenever I visit Otaru I expect more seafood and better quality seafood.
The room I was in needed to be repainted. There were lots of marks on the walls near the bed. The bathroom was satisfactory but showed a lot of wear.
The location was great, walkable to JR Otaru station. Nice restaurants nearby. Great breakfast spread and dinner options in the same restaurant. The hotel also has a cafe with superb coffee!
The building is a bit old so the rooms might have a slight outdated feeling but it’s not critically bad.
Great location !
Room bathroom facility needs renovation. Dated. Does not match rest of hotel
Conveniently located to many shops and restaurants. I have a view of the canal, which was nice.
The bathroom a decent size, but needs to be updated. The room furniture was old with many scratches and not closing properly.
The location is goodThe staff is nice and helpfull
The room is small, the bed not comfortable, the pillow also very small
Great location, great facilities and excellent spa.
Central location, beautiful sunrise views from canal facing room balcony, car park for 1200 Yen per day
AC cannot be set to heat or cool by guest, it was May but rather warm so we had to settle for heating mode or just air circulation. We slept with window open and let AC circulate the air.
I liked the location, hotel's interiors look relatively modern and the supplies (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotions, are of high quality.
I stayed on 9th floor, there seemed to be some cleaning happening when I arrived and I smelled something dead or rotten. The unpleasant smell did not linger through to my room but it stayed outside my room. As soon as I stepped out of the door going to the lift, the smell was quite pungent and disturbing.
The water kettle was a good 1.7litres unlike many hotels in Japan which a much smaller. The loading area of luggage is convenient. Location of hotel is great.
To begin with, i think the hotel is meant for guest who are not taller than 1.5m. The doors quite low. The aircon doesn't function, it either blows hotair or use the fan function. In the end,,we had to open the windows to sleep. The walls in the bedroom was dirty and the access to the toilet and shower needs alot of effort for guests with knee issues to climb that one step.. The shower curtain bar was so low that my hubby got his head knocked on the bar many times while trying to get a shower. The mirror at the basin was installed so low that I got a backache after the shower..bending so often to take caution of not falling or hitting things.
The hotel is well decorated. The aminities in the room are sufficient for our stay. The hotel is well located in the famous spot of Otaru town. It takes around 10 - 15 minutes walk to the train station. There are a lot of shops, restaurants and etc. nearby.
The first staff we met were not quite friendly to us. I think they may feel a little bit bored of the tourists. The parking lot is not free, it costs 1,200 JPY per night. I think the hotel should be more genorous for their guests about this.
My luggage was accidently broke during travel. Ive got a lot of information from hotel staff about leaving it there by buying a big rubbish sticker at convenience store. Very helpful!!!
Poor
1. No bottle water is provided 2. Only 1 small pillow is available (half size of std pillow)3. No coffee facilities is provided
The location is good, the room is great, and we can view the canal.
The furniture is kind of old, and the room is a bit narrow. The room doesn't have enough space for 2 pieces of luggage.
Stayed for the Otaru Canal Light up with roomfacing canal. Lovely hotel and breakfast and facilities. Only annoyance was being phoned in our room to hurry and check out right on 11am, we were ready but have never experienced this push to get out of a hotel before. Would stay again though.
