Starting with the positive aspects: the location is great, it is literally right next to the venetian city wall. The host was also very nice, he gave us extra towels. Although the block is a little bit scrappy, it's definitely not the elite part of the city. The stairway is also quite old and there was a shady and smelly kitchen at the end of the hallway (the hostel has some permanent tenants I guess, possibly from the thirld world). The room was spacious enough and the balcony was also really nice, however the bathroom is as tight as it can be, plus hot water was not available late at night.
