AR Roca Esmeralda & Spa Hotel

Great location! Two minutes walk to the beach ⛱️ Extremely large balcony with partially see view. Great choice of meals! If you can - take a "full board" option. You won't be disappointed. Very friendly and helpful staff on reception.

Quite outdated furniture in the rooms. No electric kettle or coffee maker. Terrible coffee in the mess hall during breakfast. No iron. However, you probably not gonna need it, since most of the time will be spent on the beach or in pubs ?

Reception staff were simply inept. One evening I asked about arranging a coach transfer to Alicante Airport the next day to meet family and was told to see reception the next morning; the next morning I was given contact details for Benniconnect, who confirmed that if I had called the night before they could have helped, but that I was too late.When asking for a taxi to tram, I was told that the tram was not running. This was incorrect, and cost me an hour.The food is poor. I simply don’t know where to start with how bad it is.The decor of the rooms was less than basic, the middle section of the headboard on the bed was missing and the bed was not comfortable.On my final morning in the room I discovered a silverfish in the bedroom: not a great indicator of the condition of the building.

1. Competent staff2. Start again with your whole food provision, from menu through to ingredients and staff.3. Completely re-decorate the rooms.

Room basically O.K. but many criticisms ----Breakfast, and Dinner good --location good

T.V. in lounge section of room, so extremely disappointed that we could not watch t.v. in bed before going to sleep, as we have enjoyed in every other hotel. Toilet seat, and lid in white, on a beige pan, beige bath, and basin. Why not install all white as normal, --looked stupid. Grout around floor drain in bathroom, looked as if thrown from doorway, not smoothed round as would be done by a tradesman. No information given whatsoever, had to ask for wi-fi code,--meal times,--payment for drinks at dinner. -- Lots of tables reserved, WHAT A JOKE, queue of people waiting to come into restaurant, half the tables standing empty, and reserved, did and will continue to cause problems with people expected to wait.

The location next to the beach and famous landmark was great. The breakfast was plentiful and varied.

The beds were a little hard, perhaps it is a time to update to IKEA. Absence of glass glasses was unfortunate. I understand that it is die to sustainability concepts but it feels misguided.

The breakfast was pretty good very noisy.

The room was very dated and dinghy. Every where we walk was dark and dinghy. The bathroom was not fit for purpose and dangerous.

Furniture/room basic and a bit tired…strange the sink section was locked away. Dinners could be hit or miss, but lots of choice.

It was clean staff helpful at Reception. Bedroom on a lower floor due to parent having a Disability.

The Restaurant no spoons to eat breakfast had to look all over for them ended up using a teaspoon, no servettes one on each table very poor quality. One male worker was rude due to pushing his dirty cutlery trolly. He called to me to move out of his way whilst he was behind me, I was carrying my breakfast, should have waited for me to get to my table. The juices in the morning not cold from the machine. They need to have tea/coffee making in the bedrooms.

The location was absolutely terrific. Right near beautiful beach promonade. Grocery store very close. Very nice patio, room was spacious. AC worked very well. Breakfast was very good. Great views. No need to park at hotel there was street parking everywhere. Free. Numerous restaurants right on beach. Very high energy location, bus stops, trolley stops.

The bed were very uncomfortable. Room and common areas inside hotel were old.

Bedrooms are large with good sized balconies and sea views. The lift system is very efficient. Breakfast is good and varied, something for everyone. 24 hour reception. Swimming pool area. Location. One minute from the wonderful sandy beach and calm Mediterranean Sea.

The manual window shutters may be too heavy for some people to pull up and down. Mine got stuck but upon my notifying reception, was fixed very quickly.

The room was very clean and spacious the food is varied and lots of it location is very good lots of shops and the staff are fantastic

The room & balcony were spacious.The location is fantastic, just a very short walk to the beach, bars & restaurants.

The toilet was broken upon arrival. Maintenance man fixed it fairly quickly though.The breakfast was disappointing (only scrambled eggs one morning, 1 of 2 coffee machines broken, very limited food variety). Staff at reception said it was possible to have dinner at the sister hotel across the road (4 star, while this one was 3 star) for an uplift of €3 (if you were booked on HB, like my friend was). When we got there, they said it was €6. Also, I had assumed that if the dinner uplift was €6, then having breakfast at the Diamante across the road instead of at the Esmeralda would maybe cost €3-€5 more, but no, I had to pay €9.50. And although the breakfast at Diamante was considerably better, it still wasn't worth €9.50 let alone an UPLIFT of €9.50.I had dinner at Esmeralda one night and paid €19.50 (as I was only booked on B&B) and I can safely say that I will never eat there again because for that money you could go on the beachfront and have a lovely meal, while theirs was very dry, overcooked, and lacking variety. There was a clear disconnect between the staff of both hotels. Info was totally different depending on who you asked, even within the same hotel. The kitchenette was blocked by a massive metal roller blind (locked), only accessible to 'proprietors' (?), so I asked for a kettle at reception. When I plugged it in, it tripped the electrics, so I had to get the maintenance man out (again) because none of the switches in the fuse box had switched off.The swimming pool, as well as most of the 'sun' beds, are in the shade for most of the day and is not heated. The sea was warmer than the pool.
