    Pros +

    • A traditional-style Japanese ryokan that gives guests the opportunity to experience Japanese traditional culture. It is also directly across the road from Naritasan Temple, a large compound and park with a number of huge temples.
    • Everything about the experience was very pleasant and exciting. We really did not know what to expect except that it was a Ryokan type hotel. The room was very nice, the breakfast provided was a delightful experience in Japanese dining.
    • Great staff and onsen

    Cons -

    • I was disappointed to be charged appropriately $ 20 per child (I have our 6 and 8 year old daughters) during check in at night (we were to checkout at 6:30 AM to catch a flight),
    • No concerns.
    • Honestly, nothing to not like. You even took us in a little earlier than opening time. Thank you!

Central location, beautiful temple view, spacious room, we loved our stay!

    No concerns.

Everything was good.. especially breakfast was so good.Public beth washed away all my fatigue. I was great to feel traditional Japanese vibe.

    10LaurenPosted on: 1-19-2026

Breakfast was a traditional Japanese breakfast, beautiful and delicious. We checked in at about 8pm and the staff was friendly and hospitable. The onsen was a great experience and very relaxing, we have tattoos so it was a great surprise that they allowed tattoos

No breakfast offered but it certainly would have been nice. I've been to traditional ryukans where all meals were served in the room. That was and could be beyond wonderful. By chance we also arrived during a matsuri. What incredible luck! It was not planned.

Honestly, nothing to not like. You even took us in a little earlier than opening time. Thank you!

The room was clean and well stocked including a welcoming green tea waiting in our room. The location is also very nice. Narita itself is a nice city with an old school vibe and a was a nice place to relax on our last day of our trip.

Before anything, location is amazing. Like walking back in time. And the old temple right in front. The staff very good, and amazing vegetarian breakfast. Yukatas are an excellent idea - get you in the mood!

Great location and wonderful to experience a traditional Ryokan. Not fancy, but the sense of authenticity and the lovely staff made it a great experience.

Right next to the beautiful shrine that incidentally is where many buddhists flock on new years and early January. We were there at that time so daytime was very crowded but we navigated easily. We even took our rolling bags to the train station without incident! It was quiet, comfortable and they served the most beautiful traditional Japanese breakfast in the morning. This was our last day in Japan special treat!

Location, the onsen - they allow tattoos! Comfortable beds and incredible staff! We stored our luggage and they accepted our forwarded bags the day before our stay!

Location across the street from the major tourist site (temple), at one end of the street with all the shops

The meals were good but not exceptional like other Ryokans we have stayed at

The room was very kept and maintained, despite its age. It had all the necessary amenities including the tea pot, hot water dispenser, and a very modern toilet. Tatami floors were very comfortable and the futon also had a nice generous padding that made sleeping on the ground very comfortable. Dinner and breakfast service was all done meticulously and with a lot of care. Bathhouse was small but adequate for the number of guests.

None. If I had to nitpick, maybe the stairways could be a bit nicer, but there is also an elevator available for use.

Exceeded expectations for our first night in Japan. The location is fantastic. I woke up early and walked around the temple before breakfast. The food was incredible, both dinner and breakfast

Has got everything you need. Clean and comfortable. Onsen was great after 13 hours in a plane.

Beautiful, clean, amazing breakfast, super kind staff.

You have to order breakfast in advance otherwise the chef won’t make it for you.

    9MolicaPosted on: 12-12-2025

Everything from the location to the staff to the amenities to the level of service was out outstanding. This ryokan is very special with a beautiful history. I feel lucky to have had a chance to stay in such a well cared for ryokan with an unbelievably well preserved legacy. The only thing that could be improved is thicker padding for the futon. It wasn’t bad! I slept through the night just fine but it could’ve used a little bit more padding.

Everything was great. They play soft relaxing music in the hallways! It’s so inviting.

    10XiufengPosted on: 12-10-2025

Very polite staff. Clean and convenient for temple visits, eating and train stations

    10ZalPosted on: 12-9-2025

I arrived late after a long travel day and they had dinner ready for me right at check in- such a wonderful welcome! The room was clean, spacious, warm, and futon bed and pillow were very comfortable. I enjoyed using the shared bath. The view in the morning out the window was beautiful! I had a great time walking around town and the front desk staff kindly let me store my luggages after check out. They also helped call me a cab to bring my luggages to the train station- much appreciated!

    Staff are friendly and courteous.

We were expecting to get a similar room like the one we had the previous year. However, we got the one at the end of the corridor, which has a less desirable view. The rooms appear to be slightly smallerAlso, this time, meals were not served inside our room. We had to go one floor down to another room designated as a dining room, which had no view. I did not remember the room number of my previous stay. Otherwise, I would have asked for the dame room.

Very friendly, comfortable, accommodation. Delicious breakfast.

We missed deadline for ordering breakfast on our return flight stay as we arrived after 6 pm. Chef was inflexible about this. We were disappointed.
