Matsumoto Marunouchi Hotel

Loved Matsumoto and this hotel. The staff were kind and accommodating. The location is a few blocks from Matsumoto Castle. My first day, I got there just in time for sunset at the castle. Pretty special. On my last day, there was a vintage market over by Frog Street, the shopping street, which is also close by. The city history museum, a block away, was fantastic as was the city art museum. The breakfast service was the best I had on my trip.

The hotel was clean and comfortable with a very nice breakfast. The staff was so friendly and helpful.

It did not have a common area to hang out.

Convenient location. Friendly and helpful staff. One in our group left a cosmetic pouch in her room. The hotel contacted and offered to mail it to us in Tokyo. We were surprised and appreciative. That’s going the extra mile!!!

Rooms are on the small side.

Very nice room in modernized building. Location is excellent in central part of the city near restaurants and sites. Breakfast was excellent.

Location is minutes from many attractions and restaurants. Large room/space, very clean, and comfortable beds. Delicious breakfast buffet.

Nice room with a wonderful location and view. And the staff were extremely helpful. The beds were comfortable and we slept well.

The hotel was quite a bit more expensive than the other hotels we stayed in on our trip, and the rooms and facilities were similar.

Very close to the castle (like 5 minutes walk) and to the city centre (2 minutes to the river bridgeand the frog street). Friendly staff. Very clean room. Comfortable bed! Very high water pressure shower. Limited parking on site but possibility to park nearby (3 minutes walk max) via the hotel. We had a spacious room. Lots of restaurants nearby. Overall, it is a very good choice for a mini break in matsumoto!

When comparing with hotels of the same category booked during our trip across Japan, we felt that the room furniture is quite basic (same for the bathroom) and looks tired. Also, the maximum light setting at night does not give you much light (already mentioned in other reviews)....

Excellent location. Easy walk to the castle and other sites. Loads of great restaurants nearby. Rooms were clean. No family rooms so we had to book two separate rooms to accomodate four.

Breakfast a bit basic

3 mins walk to castle to view the cherry trees. Good breakfast buffet. Allowed us to check in at 2 plus. Nice tea provided at the lobby.

Centrally located hotel, near the Matsumoto Castle. There is free parking (with reservation). There are good restaurants, bakery and cafes nearby. The staff are friendly and polite.

Comfortable Western style hotel.

The Wifi was almost unusable (and I was only trying to look up some websites to plan the next day). Minor but I’m not keen on having the double bed with one side against the wall as was the case here. I know it’s quite common in Japan.

Cosy, close to main attractions. Has a parking spot. Rooms are spacious and nicely arranged. We were very much content with the staff that tracked us down to let us know we left jackets in the room, and shipped it to our next hotel. Many thanks for that.

Perfect location between Masumoto Castle and the town centre tourist streets. 15 minute easy walk from/to the train station. Great breakfast venue in adjacent banquet room !

Nothing to dislike.

Very nice hotel in a great location. Room was larger than I expected and very comfortable. I only booked one night but would have been happy to stay longer!

A very centrally located hotel, very near the castle. Breakfast in the ballroom was a treat. It was lovely and quiet in the room.

Unfortunately our double room was much smaller than the twin rooms I saw and there was hardly any room for our suitcases. When we eventually found the safe it didn't work and there was an annoying flashing light on the air-conditioning unit all night. I reported both things but they didn't get fixed.

Great location close to the castle. Very comfortable beds. Big bath. Very cosy place.
