I stayed at Athome Boutique Hotel Bintulu on 30 August 2025 (2 rooms – Superior Queen & King Room, including breakfast). Our experience was very disappointing:Check-in: We arrived 30 minutes early and were told to pay RM50 for early check-in, but at 3.00pm (official check-in time) our rooms were still not ready and we were asked to wait another 30 minutes. No discount was given.Rooms:Superior Queen (L2-17): dusty, bathroom looked under renovation, incomplete toiletries, no towels, no icebox.King Room (F1-23): smelled of cigarettes, sandy/dirty floor, no towels, no toiletries at all, fridge not working.Breakfast: My children (aged 7 & 8) were asked to pay, although Booking.com clearly states that children under 12 get free breakfast.Overall, this was a very disappointing experience as the service and facilities did not match what was promised. I hope the hotel/Booking.com will provide an explanation and appropriate compensation.

Poor, location too far

Request for refund but no response from the property.

Room was fine but once enter the room, the window was not closed properly and the window handle was broken. Breakfast was limited choices.But I want to compliment the staffs. The staff really friendly & helpful.

The room is big and the price is cheap,clean bed,clean room, friendly and very polite staff

Press button on level 2 elevator is damaged and maybe can cause electric shock especially to the kid

Spacious room. Can late checkout until 6pm with reasonable price. Staff helpful. Iron provided but outside the room (other boutique hotels also the same). Coway also provided.

They gave me the room which wasn’t ready yet at first.Luckily other room was available but, the towels were not there. The remote control also didn’t work.Had to ask the staff to provide the towel and remote. The food for breakfast could be improved. Since it’s boutique hotel, can’t expect for more. I was there during the heavy rain. My room was also flooded. Windows not properly sealed

The staffs were excellent. Polite and very helpful with smiles. Room is big and clean

The bed is hard, the aircon is put on very low with full blast. Still not that good enough. I book 2 rooms, the other room pillow cover and bed cover are smelly according to my dad.

THE BREAKFAST PROVIDED BY THE HOTEL IS QUITE GOOD

What I mainly didn’t like was that the air conditioning in the room was terrible, and the room was very hot.Additionally, the cleanliness of the room was not ideal. The kettle was covered in dust, and it felt like the room hadn’t been cleaned or tidied before my check-in.I stayed for several consecutive days, but the hotel didn’t proactively replenish essential items like bottled water, bath towels, or tea bags and drinks.

Close to where I needed to go

Management of the hotel used to be better. Better breakfast, better rooms. Feel like it’s slowly declining

Basic breakfast has been prepared. Don't expect more with the room price.

The curtains and the windows are dusty. The rest ok.

Ideal for oil industry workers as is close to industrial area and refinery

Not so good for travellers as one could smell the Petroleum fumes in the air.

The staff at the Lounge was not friendly and always showing a gloomy face. Customer service was bad. I thought that she was just having a bad day, boy was I wrong. Next day, went back with my family (of senior citizens). She was straight up rude, answering with a tone TO THE SENIOR CITIZEN! I was not happy. Their minibar was not working. There was a note, saying to switch on the power. I did but it was still not cold until the next day. I informed the reception and their response was, "Oh, the bar has not been working from pre-covid time, and has been like that eversince." I do not know how to response to that other than OK, but should at least let the guest know that. Maybe it may not seem like a big deal, but it is courtesy to let us know that right?Other than that, location is further out from town so it would be better to just stay at town. We had an occasion near this hotel, which was why we chose this place.

The aircond was very noisy. Can smell the bad air outside from inside the room.
