This family-run hotel and cafe is housed in a beautiful half-timbered building on Brilon’s historic market square, at the start of the Rothaarsteig hiking trail. WiFi is free in all areas of Hotel Café Starke. Built in 1907, Hotel Starke Brilon provides rooms with a TV and a private bathroom with shower. Some rooms also offer a balcony. All rooms are unique. A rich breakfast buffet is served at the hotel or on the outside terrace. Guests can enjoy house specialties such as herbal liqueurs as well as home-baked cakes and tarts. The surrounding Sauerland countryside is ideal for hiking and cycling, and Brilon Golf Club is 1.6 mi away. Guests are also welcome to relax in the bar or in the traditional wine cellar of the Hanseatic town of Brilon, where wine and whiskey tastings are held, also with an accompanying menu on request. A private car park is available at Hotel Starke, and free public parking spaces can be found nearby. It takes 40 minutes to drive to Paderborn, and Dortmund is only a 1-hour drive away.

- The breakfast was lovely, and the location was convenient and peaceful. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the comfort of our room, and a friendly staff member, a lady, was very accommodating and made us feel welcome.
- It was a very comfortable room, clean and roomy. The rooms were quite warm, but you can easily adjust the temperature to your liking or open a window. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful, with attentive staff in case you needed anything. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

- My brother’s room felt dated, and the bathroom was extremely small, making it uncomfortable for a larger person. Additionally, one of the staff members, a middle-aged maintenance man, was incredibly rude and dismissive about the dog situation, which negatively impacted our experience.
- Reception not staffed on a friday at 7:30pm. Phone call needed to be lead to a backalley safe with keys. Staff overbearingly knocks on door at 10am to check or timely leave before 11am.
- The room was not cleaned from the first to second day and the room had smell of dust and caused allergy and bronchitis due to lack of cleanness and air flow.

The hotel is very central to everything in Brilon.The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The kitchen was shut due to Covid, so no evening meals but plenty of excellent restaurants within walking distance.
Very nicely located at the central square, with the classical German look from the outside. Very friendly staff!!
The room was decent, but a bit outdated perhaps. Also, there was parking but some neighbor lady started arguing about the hotel supposedly giving out more places than it had.
